9 Day Central Europe Itinerary, incl. Munich and Venice
This 9-day route (ages 10+, 70+ bookings June-Sept) connects Munich, Neuschwanstein Castle, Innsbruck's Goldenes Dachl, Vaduz in Liechtenstein, and Lucerne's Chapel Bridge. You'll ride Europe's highest train to Jungfraujoch, walk through Dolomite National Park, and reach Lake Como before seeing Pisa's tower, Florence, Verona, and Venice's canals by water taxi and gondola.

- Days 1-2
Munich & Neuschwanstein Castle
Start exploring Munich at Marienplatz to catch the Glockenspiel show at 11 AM. "The traditional Bavarian dinner in Munich was a highlight - try the Weisswurst with sweet mustard, but remember to peel the casing first!" Visit Neuschwanstein Castle the next morning. Book the 9 AM tour and arrive 45 minutes early to get your tickets. The walk up takes about 30 minutes. Skip the busy horse carriages and take the shuttle bus to save time.

- Days 3-4
Swiss Alps Adventure
Take a 4-hour drive through Austria and Liechtenstein to reach the Interlaken region. "The Jungfraujoch excursion was worth every penny - even in summer, the snow was pristine and the views incredible." Take the first train up at 7:30 AM to avoid crowds and get better views. Bring warm clothes since it stays below 32°F at the top even in summer. Visit the Chapel Bridge in Lucerne around 8 PM for the best sunset photos.

- Days 5-6
Italian Lakes & Tuscany
The trip from Switzerland to Lake Como takes 3 hours. Stop for lunch in Bellagio but walk up to the higher streets for more authentic restaurants away from tourists. When you get to Florence, "Get to the Duomo by 8:30 AM - lines are shortest before the first tour groups arrive." Skip the leather demonstrations and go to San Lorenzo market for better leather deals.

- Days 7-8
Venice & Return
Take an early train to Venice to make the most of your time. "Skip the overpriced gondolas and take the #1 vaporetto down the Grand Canal at sunset - same views for €7.50 instead of €80." On your way back to Munich through the Dolomites, stop at Lago di Landro in late morning for perfect mountain photos.

- Day 9
Munich Departure
8 Day Alps Cycling Itinerary, incl. Munich and Lake Garda
Munich's English Garden marks the start of this eight-day route through German villages and Italian wine country. The path leads to Garmisch-Partenkirchen's painted houses, medieval Glurns, and Merano's castles, with 3-4* hotel stays and 70-115km daily rides.

- Day 1
Munich, Germany
Begin your Alpine adventure in Bavaria's capital. Get to the bike rental shop early to pick up your gear and take a test ride around the English Garden. This helps ensure your bike fits perfectly before the big mountain challenge. Spend your evening enjoying traditional Bavarian food to fuel up for the journey ahead.

- Day 2
Munich to Murnau (70km)
Your first cycling day leads through Forstenrieder Park to Lake Starnberg. Take the lakeside path to Seeshaupt, then ride through traditional Bavarian villages past Osterseen and Riegsee lakes until you reach Murnau am Staffelsee. The route is mostly flat but leave early to avoid afternoon heat. Bring extra water since villages can be far apart.

- Day 3
Murnau to Leutasch (75km)
Cycle through the stunning Murnauer nature reserve along the Loisach River. You'll pass through Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Mittenwald. Stop to see the traditional Lüftlmalerei paintings in Mittenwald's historic center. End your day riding through the beautiful Leutasch Valley into Austria. Be careful in the Leutaschklamm gorge area if it's wet.

- Day 4
Leutasch to Landeck (70km)
- Day 5
Landeck to Burgeis (70-80km)
This is your most challenging day as you tackle the Reschen Pass. Follow the Inn Cycle Path to Martina, Switzerland before climbing into Italy. The mountain views are incredible but bring warm layers since weather changes quickly at high altitude. A bus transfer option is available if conditions are rough.

- Day 6
Burgeis to Auer (115km)
Start at historic Glurns and descend through Schlanders to Merano. You'll see many castles with views of the Ortler mountains. Continue through Lana and Lake Kaltern to Auer. This is your longest day so start early and take it steady. Find shaded spots for breaks since the valley gets hot.
- Day 7
Auer to Riva del Garda (95km)
Your final ride takes you on the Etsch cycle path to Trento and Rovereto. After Mori climb the short but steep Passo S. Giovanni before descending to Lake Garda. As one cyclist said: "After nearly 500km of riding, that gelato stop in Mori was heaven. The lake views on the final descent make all the climbs worth it."
- Day 8
Departure from Riva del Garda
Take time to rest by Lake Garda before heading home. Consider adding extra days to enjoy the area and let your legs recover.
What people love about 10-day Germany and Italy tours
- Scenic Europe
The Itinerary was wonderful but due to traffic jams which are unpredictable, it left some destinations with too little time to appreciate more than a couple of photos. Florence was one example. Adding one more day may have given us that time. Levi worked very hard to accommodate a very diverse group. His extensive knowledge of history and language added another level to our understanding of the places we saw.
