7 Day France & Germany Itinerary, incl. Marseille and Paris
From French Provence to German Black Forest, this 7-day route reveals Arles' Roman sites, Burgundy's wine regions, and Baden-Baden's elegant spas. Alsace's Germanic towns and Frankfurt's modern cityscape lead to a Paris finale.

- Day 1
Provence to Lyon
Get an early start in Marseille to avoid traffic. Visit the Roman amphitheater and Van Gogh sites in Arles during the morning. Visit Carrières de Lumières in Les Baux before 11 AM when tour buses start arriving. Stop in Avignon for a 2-hour lunch break near the Palais des Papes. Drive to Lyon and take the funicular to Notre-Dame de Fourvière to watch the sunset over the city.

- Day 2
Burgundy Wine Route
- Day 3
Alsace Region
Begin in Besançon at the citadel. Drive 2.5 hours to the colorful town of Colmar. Walk through the Little Venice quarter and try traditional tarte flambée. Stop in medieval Riquewihr for wine tasting. The local Riesling goes perfectly with Alsatian dishes. End your day in Strasbourg. As one visitor said, "The cathedral area is magical at night when all the tourists leave - grab dinner at a winstub in Petite France."

- Day 4
Black Forest
Take a morning boat tour through Strasbourg's canals before crossing into Germany. Visit Freiburg's medieval center and drive the scenic Black Forest roads to Triberg. Plan to see the waterfalls in mid-afternoon when the lighting is best for photos. End your day in Baden-Baden. Bring swimwear if you want to try the thermal baths.

- Day 5
Rhine Valley
- Day 6
Luxembourg to Champagne
- Day 7
Paris Departure
6 Day France & Germany Itinerary, incl. Paris and Black Forest
Wine and wilderness define this 6-day tour from Burgundy to Black Forest. Beaune's medieval hospital, Strasbourg's canals, and Heidelberg Castle feature alongside stays at selected hotels including Holiday Inn Express Baden-Baden.

- Day 1
Paris to Burgundy
Leave Paris early for a 3-hour drive to Burgundy. Visit Noyers-sur-Serein by 10 AM to see its half-timbered houses before the crowds arrive. After lunch, spend 2-3 hours at the Hospices in Beaune (€15 entry) when lines are shorter. Finish your day in Dijon and try the local beef bourguignon. Book accommodation near Place de la Libération for easy access to nightlife and morning markets.

- Day 2
Alsace Wine Route
Begin in Besançon at the hilltop Citadel when it opens at 9 AM for the best morning photos. Plan at least 3 hours to explore Colmar's Old Town. Remember that many restaurants close between lunch and dinner service. Stop in Riquewihr for wine tasting (€15-20) and sample excellent local Riesling and Gewürztraminer. End your day in Strasbourg's Petite France district.

- Day 3
Black Forest Journey
Take Strasbourg's first canal tour at 9:30 AM to avoid crowds (45 minutes). Drive 1.5 hours to the Black Forest. Visit Triberg Falls with sturdy shoes as paths can be slippery. Take the scenic 2-hour route through Gengenbach to Baden-Baden. Stop by the impressive Kurhaus casino in Baden-Baden, even if you don't plan to gamble.

- Day 4
Heidelberg & Frankfurt
- Day 5
Luxembourg & Champagne
Start early from Frankfurt for the 4-hour drive. Spend at least 2 hours exploring Luxembourg City's old town and fortifications. What people love about 7-day France and Germany tours
- Burgundy, Alsace and Black Forest End Paris
Overall, Enjoyed the tour, good experience. Liked the Holiday Inn Express & Crowne Plaza hotels. Especially enjoyed towns in Alsace. Sufficient explanation from guides. But limited time. For ex. there's more to see in Luxembourg. But only had 11-1:30. 1/2 hour to 40 minutes of that is consumed walking to and from where our bus parked.
- Family Club - The Romantic Rhine Valley and the Rock of Lorelei (port-to-port cruise)
The crew on the ship were excellent as was the quality of the food and beverages served. Our stateroom was clean and comfortable. A big disappointment for us however was that this cruise was advertised as an English-speaking cruise and as it turned out my wife and I were the only non-French speaking passengers on board which was a huge disappointment to us. As a result, we did not attend any of the optional excursions or the departure evening gala because we felt very uncomfortable with the language barrier. This was an unfortunate result because we had been looking forward to those excursions and the gala. We were assigned an English-speaking interpreter (Lilla). She was absolutely wonderful and did her best to make sure we knew what was going on. I would suggest that if you advertise the cruise as an English-speaking cruise then the very least that the cruise line could have done was to contact us to explain that we would be the only English-speaking passengers and offer us the opportunity to cancel our cruise with a full refund of course.
- New year in Holland and the romantic Rhine (port-to-port cruise)
The New Year in Holland and the Romantic Rhine (port to port) was a lovely cruise. My husband and I were very happy with the staff, the cruise itself and the places we visited. It was relaxing and informative. The food was wonderful and varied and well presented. We did not have to do anything, the staff greeted us on arrival and took our bags to the cabin, and took our bags to the taxi on departure. We had a great time.
