I had the most incredible time on this tour. My first visit to Japan, and Hannah and Mike were amazing at making sure I got the most out of every place we visited. My first visit to Japan, and Hannah and Mike were amazing at making sure I got the most out of every place we visited. We had Hannah take us from Tokyo to Osaka - she really knew her stuff and made sure we had plenty to do in our free time. Her suggestions were great and her love of Japan was contagious. She was so genuine and caring and gave a great start to the tour. Mike took over from Osaka to Hiroshima and his knowledge of everywhere we visited was better than any guide book I could have read. His love of history and the country meant we got so much insight into the places we visited, the history and the culture in such a short amount of time! He also recommended some great hidden bars and knew the best spots for photos. So much positive energy as a tour guide, amazing! I could not have asked for a better guide team, or a better crew to tour with.
My second one life trip, and I love the focus on culture and getting a real feel for the country, not just seeing tourist hot spots, that they always seem to bring! Highly recommend!!

She was full of recommendations for our free time, always made sure everybody was enjoying their time and couldn’t of been more helpful. She made an effort to get to know every single person on tour, which is hard when there is a large group and she made sure everybody was always included in group activities. Mike was our guide for the final 4 days and he fitted straight in with the group, it was like he had been with us the entire time. Mike is so knowledgable about Japan and told us loads of amazing facts about every single place we visited. Mike also made an effort with organising group meals on our ‘free nights’ and making suggestions for people.
Japan has to be on every single persons bucket list, it truly is the most amazing country but I would highly recommend this tour, especially if you don’t want to have to plan or think about anything, you can literally turn up on day 1 and everything is sorted!’

Tour guides Hannah and Mike were very knowledgeable and provided lots of location based information. They also ensured we were all on the correct transport when travelling down.
Japan is a place full of options for everyone and the down time allows people to do their own thing. Plenty of money is spent on food and entry into places.

Absolutely loved the sushi making and kendo class included and all of the walking tours showing us the culture of Japan.
There was lots of extras to pay for like entry to temples so bring the recommended cash-if not more. Breakfast included was light so would often be topped up with a 7/11 visit.
The accommodation was everything to be expected and was fine for a couple.
The extension tour is worth doing and Mike was very knowledgeable teaching us the history of Japan. Miyajima island was one of my highlights, and would definitely recommended doing the extension for this!

Hannah was really fun, knowledgable down to earth and gave a lot of her time to anyone who needed it on the tour. Mike who took us on for the final four days felt like part of the group immediately. He was extremely knowledgeable about Japan and its history and also so willing to capture some memorable moments for us on camera.
They pack a massive amount into this tour which was what I was hoping for! You do also get a few hours free time here and there to do your own thing in all of the different areas you visit. For the balance of activities was perfect, the people were great and the experience was unforgettable.

This was my first solo trip and I was quite nervous to be in a place I had never been before with people I didn’t know. This tour blew my expectations out of the water! This tour blew my expectations out of the water! From day 1 Hannah was informative, attentive and felt like just another friend on the tour. I never felt stressed to make it somewhere on time or be unsure as to where we had to be. She made sure to be aware of people at all times and made sure we were all having the best time. The first week and a half with Hannah and all the tour mates were amazing! Not a single bad memory. Although we didn’t get as much time with Mike as he was only with us for a few days, he still connected to the group quite quickly and became another friend. He provided us with so many fun little facts and always had extensive knowledge about the places we were and it’s history. I would most certainly recommend this tour to anyone! There were so many places we saw that I would never have though to have gone to if it weren’t for this tour. The tour guides are absolutely incredible, every place we went to had so much to see and offer! 2 weeks felt like a lifetime of fun! ?

The Japan tour was my first tour group experience and also first time staying in hostels.
Accomodation was made up of Hostels, Hotels and Temple Stays (which were great). Whilst shared facilities are not my favourite option I found the accomodation to be good and improved as we progressed throughout the trip. Just remember to duck if you’re tall as a number of the group smacked their heads on the low Japanese ceilings.
Our tour guides Hannah (first 10 days) and Mike (last four days) were incredible and went out of their way to support the group, provide direction, offer advice and answer any questions that we may have. They’ve definitely converted me to the tour option as they made it such a hassle free trip.
Japan is such a magical place and everyday of the trip felt like a highlight. The three K’s of Kendo, Karaoke and Kimonos are all very memorable activities that were so much fun. As a foodie I also enjoyed the Sushi making and food tour parts of the trip,
There are a number of once in a lifetime activities, especially in the temples. The sights such as Mount Fuji and shrines with surrounding sacred parkland are amazing and we were also lucky enough to catch Cherry Blossoms. The 14 day tour ends in Hiroshima and I would suggest ensuring you include this into your trip. The way the Japanese remember this significant and extremely sad historical moment is a must see. Miyajima island on the last day is also a beautiful place.
All in all an amazing tour for me, I met wonderful people, expertly guided to see the amazing sights and gain incredible experiences of Japan.

Starting off the tour with 10 days lead by Hannah was fantastic, everything was well organised and presented to us professionally. I appreciated having IC cards which made travel so easy during our free time. She does great at balancing being professional in her job as well as being good fun. I would gladly pay extra to do extra days in Hakone and Takeyama!
The last 4 days were equally as great. Hiroshima is a must see and getting to see the museum there was equally intriguing as it was eerie. Sarah did an awesome job of remembering must know information about the locations and sites we were at. I would love for her to improve her pool skills though as she was a detriment to our team on the last night in Hiroshima!!
I would gladly tour with One Life again.

Pro-tip: make sure to leave some space in your luggage for souvenirs and knick knacks because there’s lots that you’ll want to bring home with you.
Hannah and Sarah were amazing guides! I really can’t stress how thankful I am to them for sharing their knowledge of Japan, sharing things to do/see and where to eat during our free time, and just overall making sure everything ran smoothly. All of the accommodations were superb, and really I only wish that we had spent more than one night in Takayama, but overall I loved every second of it.
This is a brilliant way to travel Japan, especially if you have limited time. OneTour have managed to pack in all the highlights of each city, and you leave feeling satisfied that you have experienced…This is a brilliant way to travel Japan, especially if you have limited time. It's a busy schedule with a lot of walking so comfortable shoes are needed. Our tour started mid April, and we managed to catch the last of the cherry blossoms which we were delighted with, but a slightly earlier tour might be a better guarantee of seeing them. Its also worth packing a light raincoat as the weather can be mixed. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and are great at providing recommendations for downtime including specialities of the region, but most of the time you're experiencing these within the tour anyway, and the schedule is so tightly packed that you need this time to chill or just generally move at a slower pace - certainly wouldnt advise trying to squeeze in something too time intensive. It may be worth reading up a little on each location and making note of things or places you want to do/try in advance as it's likely you'll need to book these ahead of time (such as the Mario Carts and TeamLab in Tokyo), but if you did no research at all and just enjoyed the experiences provided and/or recommended through the tour you will have just as good a time. Our group ranged from early 20s to mid 30s, and we thoroughly enjoyed everyone's company, a really great bunch lads! Finally, we hadn't heard of OneLife before this trip but we were really impressed with how well this tour was delivered including the guides, activities, accomodations and local suppliers, we would highly recommend them.
Hannah and Sarah were fantastic guides. They were both very helpful, going over and above to help us with tricky requests. We were very impressed with their knowledge of the country and customs, and their ability to navigate the large group through each location, including the public transport, with meticulous time keeping! They were both oganised and professional at all times, its clear OneLife has a very high standard regarding the recruitment and training of guides, and that thorough research has been done on the tour programme and locations as well as procurement of suppliers and activities which we very much appreciated.
The tour is so busy and varied its almost hard to accurately reflect on each location - we loved everything we did and can't name anything we didn't enjoy or wouldn't recommend, it's such a well curated trip! Our highlights were miyajima island, kimono hire, traditional tea ceremony, kendo class, "piss alley", shibuya, the takiyama temple stay - including the room AND the morning meditation, the koyosan temple dinner, sushi making, fushimi-inari and the tour of hiroshima (all of the temples and shrines were fantastic I just can't remember the names!).
The Kendo instructors were fantastic, and the personal story was greatly appreciated. The Takiyama Monk also led a wonderful meditation and insightful reflection afterwards. The Gion tour was good but the guide was very hard to hear and I regretted missing valuable information as a result - if the local guide can't be amplified in any way, it may be useful for the OneTour guide to go over the main points before moving on to the next point.
It's a busy schedule so you certainly don't leave feeling like any time has been wasted which is great. It may be nice to build in some private transfers towards the end of the trip such as group taxis from trains to accomodation, when the group is smaller and its been a particularly busy day of travel. The convenience store meals can get slightly repetitive over the course of the trip but appreciate these keep costs down and give everyone variety of choice - it may be useful to identify one or two food vendors nearby the accomodations+ stations that can provide quick or cheap meals on the go (though again, appreciate guests can figure this out themselves with the options nearby and this doesnt always work out with the schedule).
There was a slight dip in the energy after the 10 day crew left and the group split up up, which is to be expected, we absolutely loved both guides and Hannah did a brilliant job of keeping us going and lifting spirits for the final leg of the tour but for consistency it would be nice to keep the one guide throughout (again, purely for consistency not a reflection on Hannah's guiding).
The koyosan temple only had showers in the onsen itself, and one suggestion for those not fully comfortable with sharing that experience with the group would be to suggest an individual time slot approach, even if this meant going after/later than those happy to onsen together (appreciate complete privacy can't be guaranteed as there may be other guests staying in the temple, but just a suggestion).
We loved activities that kept the group together especially in the evening such as the maid cafe, karaoke and dinner+pool at kembys, activities that encourage group interaction are always fun, one additional suggestion could be spot prizes (such as a key ring or can of beer) at the end of a day/city with a few quiz questions about what had been visited that day or in that city to encourage people to actively engage with the valuable knowledge on offer from the guides, and act as a reminder of all the activities jam packed into the schedule!
I think its worth highlighting on the website just how much the tour takes the burden of planning off the guest in terms of accomodation, public transport, area specific activities and expert guidance, and that laundry facilities are available at or near most accomodations to encourage lighter packing.
Overall I loved our tour and would highly recommend OneTour to others as a fantastic way to travel and experience Japan, and would certainly use the company for future trips!

Guest house in hakone was cool! The temple stay was a highlight as well, the monk experience and onsens in takiyama!
The history of Kyoto and the stay in the hostel there was great 3 nights exploring the history and hanging out was so much fun

The friends I made on the tour also made it a wonderful experience. I booked this as a solo female traveller and feel so lucky that I got to share the experience with such a fun group of people. The top highlight of the trip was Kyoto and wearing kimonos for the day. We felt so beautiful and had so much fun exploring and getting photos. I had two amazing tour guides, Hannah and Mike. They made the trip so comfortable and easy for their guests!

Everything! Our guides were amazing. I loved the temples, the sight seeing, staying at the temples and getting authentic experiences with dressing in Kimono's, Kendo, food tours, and participating in meditation and prayers!

Events such as seeing Mount Fuji and the Hiroshima Museum among many other well curated activities really mean that you are constantly looking forward to the next day when as you are always going to be shown something new that you likely have never seen before, a true sense of adventure and thrill is what stands out to me about this plan, as well as the tour guides who keep each event interesting with context to help enhance each experience with their own insight and/or passion about the journey

Plus other activities that adapted to the local culture like wearing a Kendogi when doing kendo, and singing karaoke. Our guides, Hannah and Mike were wonderful and accommodating. Thank you both for making this trip a memorable one!!!

This 14-day Japan tour was my 3rd trip with One Life after getting a recommendation from Abbey (our tour guide) when I did my 1st tour with them in Bail back in Step 2022.
Like my 1st and 2nd tours with One Life, I already knew this Japan tour would be amazing. And absolutely yes!!! This was one of my favourite tours so far.
Our tour guide (for the 1st ten days), Hannah, was just BRILLIANT, very professional and well organised and did an incredible job.
I met so many great people from all around the world. The tour was packed with activities with enough free time to do stuff yourself or to chill. I got to make and eat Sushi for the first time, travel on the fastest bullet train in the world, stay in temples, and wander around in the gorgeous places in Japan; the list goes on..... I just loved the whole experience!!
I did the 4-day extension (visiting Nara Park, Koya-San, and Hiroshima), which was brilliant. And we were very lucky with the Cherry Blossom too. I immensely enjoyed Miyajima Island on our 2nd last day. Our guide for the 4-day extension was Mike Mazur., a very chill and super-friendly person, who did a great job.
Overall, highly recommend this tour. And please do the 14-day tour (with the 4-day extension in Nara Park, Koya-San, and Hiroshima); it's MORE THAN worth it!!

A minor observation: Maybe some people needed more time to visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and the museum. A few people wished they had another extra hour to visit the museum at a slower pace.

Especially with the company not being ATOL protected. However, I took the risk when booking the tour. I have to say, I'm very glad I did. Not only is the itinerary the best I've seen for a Japan tour, the process was straight-forward and easy to go through both prior and during the tour.
The sheer amount of content that is packed into this tour, will have you covering a wide range of culture and history. I also believe it will cater to everyone's taste, i.e. if anime is more your thing then certain parts will appeal to you more than others, however, you will gain an appreciation for everything else. No two locations had the same feeling, after the tour had ended I was desperate for more. I have no doubts you will feel the same.
The booked accommodations, are all some of the cleanest places I've ever stayed, even when there are shared bathrooms, there is a great amount of respect throughout Japan, you will no doubt notice it in everything you experience. All of the staff at the accommodations all had very impressive English, in case that was something you are worried about, furthermore a lot of them also have umbrellas that can be used for free, in case the weather turns for the worse.
The travelling can be quite long on some days, however it is made effortless by the guides and the variety of passes that are given to you as and when they are needed. The public transport is also phenomenal, trains, busses, trams etc. were never late either. Public toilets are also spotless, and frequent, which is an important thing to know.
I will admit that due to the amount of content packed into this tour, things do happen quickly, somethings open and shut at different times, so if there is stuff you want to do, try and plan this to fit in with your free time. i.e. Osaka castle and going in. I went in during one of the days and ended up meeting the rest of the group later. But this was a personal choice.
I would encourage those to talk to your tour guide early on if there is specific things you wish to do or see. As their knowledge will be invaluable.
After the tour they will help you get to your next destination. But do give them some notice as they can help you.
I would recommend this tour for everyone who has even the slightest bit of interest in Japan.
I think the highlights of the tour for me were places that I wouldn't have traveled to if i wasn't on the tour. Places such as Hakone, or Takayama. These places were great and really gives people a wider insight to Japan, than just the big names of, Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto etc.
I think a lot of people would of liked to spend a bit more time in Nara, I also think whilst the guided tour around Hiroshima was great and really insightful, only having 45 mins before the Hiroshima museum was incredibly disappointing as I and a lot of others couldn't take it in.
I think the individual will get the most out of this tour if they decided to do as much as they can, i.e. going to Okunoin cemetery both during the afternoon and at night was such an experience, I almost feel it should be included as part of the tour.
The staff were really helpful, kind and full of knowledge. A big shout out to Hannah Reim, and Mike Mazurkiewicz, both providing unique experiences to the tour. They are both passionate about the country and looking after the tour group especially with the scale of the group.
I would recommend the tour to anyone with even the slightest interest in Japan. I didn't feel like I missed anything but i was left wanting the tour to never end. Was a great experience and I hope the tour continues to give people a once in a lifetime experience.

Things I couldn’t have done without: a small umbrella and a pair of water resistant shoes for the surprise rain; hand wipes, hand soap, and hand towel (most restrooms don’t provide soap or towels); and lots of layers to accommodate the rapid changes in temperature.
All of our activity instructors were incredibly kind and eager to teach about Japan’s culture and history. Their genuine excitement to help us truly understand the significance of traditions gave invaluable insight that you just can’t get anywhere else. Sushi making class with fish fresh from the market; tea ceremony wearing traditional kimono; kendo class and shogun history taught by a descendant of a samurai… The places we saw were wonderful too, but they can’t compare to the opportunities we had to learn from these masters.

So many unique little trinkets to be found in gatchapon machines, and drinks to get addicted to as you pass vending machines stocking them on every street. And the food was delicious, even without being a fan of sushi or seafood - ramen was my favourite, with the okonomiyaki we ate in Hiroshima at a close second!
The group were all amazing, with a lively group chat and a photo pool on PhotoCircle which now has nearly 2000 photos, with plenty of fun moments to remember the trip by! I get the impression everyone visiting Japan for a variety of unique reasons, and all came away satisfied!
I did the 14 day tour rather than the 10 day, so we had two tour guides throughout the course of the trip. Hannah was a fun tour guide, always looking after us and going out of her way to make sure we all knew the basics for our stay in Japan, and looking out for anyone that needed help - and I don’t think my first trip abroad on my own would have been nearly as much of a success without this support! Then for the last four days, after a 1 day handover, we had Mike, who did a great job of getting to know everyone in the short space of time, and clearly has an interest in the history of the country, sharing some great insights to share into the history of Hiroshima and Miyajima Island!
The only tip I’d give to anyone on future tours is that we went direct between accommodations on paved surfaces when travelling with luggage, so it may actually be easier for you to take a suitcase if you have a lot of clothes, for both traversing the roads and organising your stuff, if you’re alright getting them up one or two staircases on the rare occasion a station doesn’t have an escalator handy! There are ample opportunities to wash clothes, too. Minimise your burden so you can take home more goodies!

Seeing My Fuji from the perspective of the Sulphur Mines we were touring, it was as awe inspiring as it was amazing.
