About me:I’ve worked my whole life back in England doing a pretty hardcore stressful job so I’ve taken the leap and become a tour guide for Trutravels. I’ve travelled the world from Peru and Bolivia to America, most of Europe, parts of Asia and the whole of Australia. We'd never been on a tour like this, so weren't sure what to expect. From the moment we we collected at the airport, we were pleasantly surprised. Our tour guide, Greg was knowledgeable, informative and helpful.
We had the misfortune to be on Lombok, on our way to the Gili Islands when the earthquake hit. At very short notice, Greg made sure we had a safe place to stay overnight and our accommodation and itinerary were altered to suit for the rest of our tour. This bonded our group closer, and we have even discussed a reunion!

It has definitely been a life changing experience for me. After our fantastic first tour days on Bali, we were moving on to Gili. We got caught up in the initial and subsequent earthquakes travelling through Lombok to the Gili Islands. We had only disembarked the slow boat 20 minutes before. Greg has been amazing. He kept everyone calm on the minibus (12 of us) and took control of the situation like a pro. We ended up sleeping overnight at the bus driver’s house. Huge thanks to Gede Metra and his lovely family for taking us all in, giving us food and somewhere to sleep. They were so kind. Greg, with no notice at all, rescheduled the 3 days we should have spent on Gili. We ended up staying on Lombok and had an awesome time. Hats off to Greg. The events definitely brought our group close together and it has been an unforgettable trip in ways we couldn’t have foreseen.

The bit I wasn’t so keen on was the fact we went out for, big lunch and tea as it was quite expensive. But everywhere we went was really nice. Snorkelling with the turtles was definitely my favourite activity. It was very well organised and the recommendation by Greg to go early meant that we had the sea to ourselves. The fact that Greg took photos for everyone deserves a special mention as it meant we could all enjoy the activities without worrying about taking photos

My experience has been truest one of a kind. Everything has been so very organised and has made the trip very enjoyable and seamless. All the itinerary has been externally amazing. Understandable do can see it all in 10 days. It’s feels like I’ve made the most of my time here and enjoyed it. Definitely an easier way to travel than having to sort it all yourself. My favourite activity was he volcano walk which was very rewarding and a great experience. The surfing was also very fun and I would like to do it again.
Greg did very well to put up with the group who were constantly trying to talk over him when explaining stuff. He had very good patience as they were so annoying, constantly complaining even though they were saying they were having a good time. Overall a great experience and would come again.

All in all the tour was good. We got to see so much in just one day and our group leader Grev was fab, helping everyone with anything.

My favourite activity and memory was the volcano hike and getting to see turtles during the snorkelling. I think the group leader should stay in the same hotel as the group and that way they can control the group if needs be. Some of the accommodation could have been a bit better for the first two hotels.

Really good experience apart from the weather being bad until Gili. We still had a fun time and would do this tour again. My favourite activity was surfing and I also really enjoyed snorkelling too. There were so many favourite memories and activities to chose from but it would probably be the Tanah Lot Temples and learning about the culture and being blessed in the temple. It was an amazing experience and I would recommend to anyone!

I’d say the surfing lesson or the cooking class were my favourite activities, both encouraged me to challenge myself and to learn something new. It was also great to be in the middle of a Balinese family, it’s something I don’t think I’d have known about if it wasn’t for the Trutravels.

I didn’t like canggu much, and it would have been nice to have an introduction round to learn where everyone was from and their names. Other than that everything was really good, well arranged transport, meeting points, timetables I loved the night market food.

My favourite activity of the trip was hiking up the volcano - mount Batur with some of the group. It was a difficult hike but the views at the top were unreal.
It was a shame about the condition the bikes were in whilst on Gili but other than that the tour was great and the itinerary was well put together.

I can honestly say this has been the best holiday I have ever been on. The itinerary was fantastic and I enjoyed all the activities especially the surfing and snorkelling. I loved learning to surf, it was great fun and I’d love to do it again. I also loved the snorkelling. Swimming along side turtles is a memory I will treasure. I also had some hilarious memories from our great nights out on Gili T.
Overall I think the trip offers fantastic opportunities at great value for money. Also our tour guide Greg made the holiday for me as he was full of information and made sure each activity flowed smoothly. He was always looking after the guests ensuring everyone was happy.

My favourite activity was the snorkelling as it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to swim with turtles and see the so up close.
My favourite memories are also going out with Greg and the group as we had constant laughs.
Due to the bikes not working properly in the hotel in Gili we were unable to completed the bike ride on the last day and also bike around at night and a bad way to end the trip.
Greg always had the answers to anything we asked and kept us entertained and chose good restaurants for us all to eat.

Great trip and keep doing what you’re doing. Greg was a great guide. He always made sure everyone was happy and safe at all times. Gave us lots of information on all the activities and made sure we all had lots of fun. He was always on time and always happy and in a great mood.

My favourite activities included snorkelling with the turtles and being able to get so close was just awesome.
I also loved surfing and the volcano climb.
The only thing that can be improved were the bikes in Nirvana which were awful to the point we couldn’t use the majority of them.

My favorite activity was the local Balinese cooking class. I also liked learning about Balinese culture and the company ethics regarding sustainable/ethical travel and the treatment of animals etc.
As far as other feedback/thoughts suit the trip, onward travel support was also great. Our tour leader also did well to try and include everyone, being such a large group.

The whole tour was so nice and relaxed, I had friends over from the UK and got to see them lots despite being on the tour. They were even invited to dinner etc with us.

My favourite activity was the snorkelling with turtles and being able to sunbathe and relax on the roof. It was nice to be out at sea and visit other islands. If anything the staff should be given an underwater camera to use to take some photos.

If you can’t ride a bike then Gili T is a lot of walking as there are no stabilisers or bikes with seats on the back.

There are so many favourite activities and memories but surfing for the first time was brilliant, and cooking Balinese food.
Greg was an absoulyute asset, adapting activities to suit our mixed group.
If anything the accommodation was almost too nice, felt like I was on a vacation rather than slumming it backpacker style.

The tour leader is very knowledgeable about the areas and added activities that we could do on our own. He is also very knowledgeable about local customers and beliefs and was able to guide us on the ways of Bali.
Snorkelling at Gili was one of my highlights as was hiking up batur to see the sunrise. Also have to mention the cooking class in Ubud.
The only thing I would add to the tour would be more snorkelling around he north of the island as the turtles graze up there.

He doesn’t stop when he’s off the clock. This has been my favourite tour and there was a varied itenerary to meet everyone’s preferences even for the party girls that insisted on being out everyday. My favourite part was not getting a hangover, but on a serious note, my best memory was climbing the volcano (the view/not the climb itself). My favourite activity was our booze cruise to gilli T. Our guides Rig and Greg where awesome, they had lots of knowledge about Bali. They also planed dinner, nights out etc for each evening which the whole group enjoyed. Couldn't have had better tour guides. Amazing people.

Accommodation was always clean and the staff were friendly. My favorite hotel we stayed at was the one in Ubud.. the rooms were simple but stylish and the breakfast was delicious, plus the staff were so friendly. My only complaint would be that the final hotel on the Gilli Islands was a bit underwhelming, and the food was pretty bad. Highlights would be the Balinese cooking class, and haggling in the markets. Our tour leaders Rig and Gregg were so helpful, and gave us loads of tips on restaurants and haggling ect. To be honest we would have been completely lost without them!

There was just a good mixture of activities and then chill time which meant for me I had time to do my own thing and chill out. I am using trutravels again for my upcoming Philippines trip and couldn’t be more happy with my decision.
