  • Days 1-2

    Zermatt & Gornergrat

    Plan a full day for the Gornergrat cogwheel train experience. The observation platform is at 10,135 feet so pack a windproof jacket and warm clothes. It's usually 10-15°F cooler up there than in Zermatt. Your best chance for clear Matterhorn views is in the morning before clouds move in.

    Montreux & Geneva

    Take the train to Montreux on Lake Geneva. You can visit Chillon Castle by boat from April to October or by train in winter. Spend the next day in Geneva just an hour away by train. A recent visitor shared: "The water taxi across Lake Geneva offers stunning views of the Jet d'Eau fountain especially in late afternoon light when the Alps glow pink."

    Interlaken & Jungfraujoch

    Take the scenic Golden Pass train through the Bernese Alps to reach Interlaken. The trip takes 3 hours. For Jungfraujoch start early to beat the crowds. At 11,332 feet take it slow and drink lots of water to prevent altitude sickness.

    Bern
