7-Day Malta Tour Packages
Want a week on the Mediterranean's tiny island nation? Malta packs Valletta's fortifications and baroque architecture, ancient temples older than Stonehenge, Blue Grotto's caves, and Mdina's medieval streets. Ferry to Gozo for more relaxed pace and diving, possibly tiny Comino for Blue Lagoon swimming. The history's layered, with Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, Knights of St. John, and British influences.

7 Day Malta Itinerary, incl. Valletta and Gozo
A meticulously planned week featuring 5 guided tours and 1 free day. Full-day excursions run 8-9 hours, visiting Valletta, Mdina, Gozo, and ancient temples. Airport transfers bookend the trip smoothly.

- Day 1
Arrival in Valletta
Fly into Malta International Airport and take a quick 20-minute transfer to Valletta. If you're staying within the city walls ask to be dropped at Valletta City Gate to navigate the limestone streets more easily. Spend your first afternoon exploring Republic Street, the city's main thoroughfare. If you have lots of luggage consider staying in Floriana instead of Valletta to avoid the stepped streets.

- Day 2
Valletta Deep Dive
Get to St. John's Co-Cathedral by 8:00 AM before the tour groups arrive. "The marble floor patterns are incredible—bring your camera but watch your step on the slick surface" one visitor notes. Check out the Caravaggio masterpieces then head to Upper Barracca Gardens for great harbor views. Go before 11 AM to avoid cruise ship crowds. In the afternoon watch the Malta Experience show to understand the island's rich history.

- Day 3
Mdina and Central Malta
Take a 30-minute bus to Mdina, the old capital. Visit early before 10 AM when it gets busy. Stop by the Christian catacombs in Rabat (bring something warm to wear) then visit Dingli Cliffs for stunning ocean views. Browse Ta' Qali crafts village later in the day when you might get better deals from artisans. Finish at Mosta Dome around 4 PM for the best photo light.

- Day 4
Free Day - Beach or Culture
- Day 5
Gozo Island
Take the 8:15 AM ferry to Gozo from Cirkewwa (45 minutes from Valletta by bus). Start at the Ġgantija Temples when it's quieter. "Bring water and sun protection; there's little shade at the archaeological sites" a recent visitor suggests. While the Azure Window is gone Dwejra Bay is still beautiful. End your day watching sunset from Victoria's Citadel.

- Day 6
South Malta Highlights
- Day 7

7 Day Malta Itinerary, incl. Valletta and Gozo
Malta's treasures unfold across 3 key destinations: historic Valletta, fishing village Marsaxlokk, and island paradise Gozo. The week-long stay includes 6 nights in hotels, Hagar Qim temple visits, Ta Cenc Cliffs hiking, and wine tasting at local vineyards.

- Days 1-2
Valletta
Start your Malta adventure in the UNESCO-listed capital. Visit the Upper Barrakka Gardens before 9 AM to avoid cruise ship crowds and get the best morning photos of the Grand Harbor. When you visit St. John's Co-Cathedral, get an audio guide to understand the intricate baroque art details. Stop by Caffe Cordina, a historic café from 1837, for authentic Maltese pour-over coffee.

- Day 3
Malta's Southern Coast
Head to Marsaxlokk where the Sunday fish market is busiest before 11 AM. You'll get great morning shots of the colorful luzzu boats. Pack a hat and water for the Hagar Qim temples - there's minimal shade at this ancient site from 3600 BC. A recent visitor shared: "The megalithic temples were incredible, but the Mediterranean sun is intense - visit early morning or late afternoon for the best experience."

- Days 4-5
Gozo
Take the 25-minute ferry from Cirkewwa to Mgarr. The upper deck offers the best views. Plan about 3 hours for the Xlendi to Ta Cenc Cliffs coastal walk and wear good hiking shoes - the limestone paths can get slippery. Watch the sunset at the Xwejni Salt Pans when the light creates beautiful patterns in the salt crystals. If you want to try local wines, book tastings ahead since many small producers need reservations.

- Day 6
Gozo's Beaches
The morning hours are perfect for kayaking around hidden coves when the water is calmer. Check out the secluded Wied il-Ghasri inlet. The steep climb down is worth it for the crystal-clear swimming. Bring water shoes for rocky entry points. Take the 5 PM ferry back to Valletta to skip rush hour traffic.

- Day 7
Final Morning

What people love about 7-day Malta tours
- Highlights of Malta & Gozo
It was an interesting, fun and informative experience. The guide was amazing, and I was lucky to fall into a really cool and cohesive group.
- Malta at Freedom,6 Days Tour
Malta is absolutely beautiful! The people, history, food, and culture really made the experience one of a kind. My drivers, Jonathan and Gaetano were always on time and took extra care of me. Jonathan was my tour guide for Gozo and he really made my birthday very special with each amazing stop and history about the island. Emilio was an excellent guide with so much knowledge and history behind each place we visited. Carmen was a wonderful guide for Valletta and her knowledge of the city was amazing. I really enjoyed everything about the tours I chose and the experiences I had with each of my guides. Thank you for making my birthday trip fun and easy!
- Malta Discovery Private Tour
Honestly, the sole negative thing I could say was one day it rained. coordination, lodging, food, transport and guided portions of the trip were flawless. The lodging (19 Rooms) was right on the mark. You feel "Maltese." To the minute(?) transport was where it was to be. Drivers were safe. All guides were helpful and informative. I was impressed with the tour. It hit the right places with the right amount of time. I would caution that a fair amount of walking is involved and not a lot of accommodations for those with limited mobility are made. Overall, very happy!
