10 Day Egypt Itinerary, incl. Cairo and Luxor
A dynamic 10-day Egyptian tour spans 6 cities. Starting with 2 nights in Cairo, followed by 3 nights on 5-star Nile cruise, 2 nights at Red Sea resort, ending in Cairo.
- Days 1-2
Cairo & Giza
Land in Cairo and take a hotel transfer from the airport. On day 2, get to the Giza Plateau by 8am to avoid crowds and intense heat. "The morning light makes for the best pyramid photos before the day gets too harsh." Visit the Step Pyramid at Sakkara in the afternoon when it's less busy.
- Days 3-4
Aswan & Nile Cruise
Book a quick flight to Aswan instead of taking the bus. "The flight upgrade was worth every penny compared to the 14-hour bumpy bus ride." Take a boat to see Philae Temple, then start your Nile cruise. Consider the Abu Simbel trip even with its 3am start time. "It's a bucket list site that shouldn't be missed."
- Days 5-6
Luxor's East & West Banks
While cruising to Luxor, stop at Kom Ombo Temple. Visit Karnak and Luxor Temples on the East Bank. "Go to Valley of the Kings first thing in the morning before it gets crowded and extremely hot." Plan for at least 2 hours at Valley of the Kings. Most visitors say they need more time here.
- Days 7-8
Red Sea Resort at Hurghada
Take a break at the beach in Hurghada. Book water activities through your hotel for better quality. "The snorkeling was incredible but avoid the crowded party boats - opt for smaller group tours for better reef access."
- Days 9-10
Return to Cairo
Head back to Cairo. Flying saves time over the bus option. Start early at the Egyptian Museum to avoid tour groups. Finish at Khan el-Khalili bazaar. "Come prepared to bargain hard - start at 30% of initial asking prices." Book flights after 3pm to avoid morning traffic jams.
