Alvaro was extremely competent and knowledgeable. He managed to keep us all happy no matter how "particular" a guest was. He was always full of life with a ready smile. His attention to detail and clear explanations helped tremendously.
Great group of mixed ages helped too!

Thanks to Alvaro, this trip delivered above expectations. No matter what the challenge or problems we faced, Al had a solution and a comforting word to get things done. Truly an asset for any company.
The planning of the trip and the managing of this big group of 18, was done superbly. Always on time and well informed. Not only was Al informative on all accounts wrt the country's history and culture but he is the Best entertainer Ever!
I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the tour. Good value of money, awesome sightseeing and adventure events and comfortable accommodation, leaving the best(hotel &swimming pool) for last!
Highly recommend this trip, in fact i already did that.

He made the trip fun. Entertaining, exciting and best of all I had the opportunity to learn more about Asia in simple terms and go away enriched and happy. Alvero went out of his way to assist and help all travelers in his group to ensure we all enjoy it to the top level.
I loved the variety of the trip and how well planed out everything was. Not one place we went to was a disappointmentm.. Except well not having a few hotels without pools... But even that Alvero was able to turn around for us.
Would recommend this trip to anyone and all!

And it's not because of his knowledge in what Thailand has to offer and its history, but because of his passion to share what he loves to experience to other travelers. He will always do the best he can to make sure that his tour group was having a good time, would always make sure that we felt comfortable in anything we did or didn't do, and would ALWAYS be a positive energy. There was not one instance where he was in a bad mode. And being a tour guide for 24/7 while not getting sick days or personal days off, he always brings his A game. It has. Wen a pleasure spending time with him and if he is doing another country I am interested in seeing and have the opportunity to travel again, I would do it in a heart beat. Thanks again for making my Thailand moments some strong and positive memories, and I will continue to share the positive energy to others.

I was worried about the hassle of transfers since traveling really stresses me out and he made everything so smooth, so painless and so fun! I don't think I've ever had a better tour guide... he took us to the best restaurants, had the best recommendations and was so knowledgeable about the area and its history (seriously impressive facts!!).
Thank you Alvaro for being so amazing and making our holiday the best one yet!! I'll definitely try to make it back to Asia to tour with you again!

Our tour to the Thailand West Islands was made infinitely better by having Alvaro guide us around. We normally find the actual 'travelling' part of travelling to be the most stressful part by far, but…Our tour to the Thailand West Islands was made infinitely better by having Alvaro guide us around. We normally find the actual 'travelling' part of travelling to be the most stressful part by far, but having it all taken care of by Alvaro completely took the stress out of each transfer.
For example, each time we took a ferry, Alvaro effortlessly took us through the port, using thai phrases to get tickets and count us through. He would then brief us once we got onto the ferry and would brief us that there would be a long wait at the other end and that we should just wait until everyone else left. Great advice and it made each ferry so painless. He also would have a chat with us about his suggestions for the next locations and he had an itinerary that was amazingly flexible depending on our mood.
After debarking the ferry, there were a couple of times that we had hotels away from the suggested Busabout accommodation, and Alvaro would immediately figure out where it was for us, and then if possible, he negotiated with the driver to drop us off afterwards at a small extra costs. This made our journey way less stressful and was really really appreciated.
In terms of activities, he had great advice on the things we should do. For example, kayaking to Monkey Beach in Phi Phi; something we would never have figured out ourselves or would have even thought to have done. Alvaro was an encyclopaedia on the islands, and had suggestions for everything we could want to do, as well as a fountain of local knowledge.
For example, when we said we wanted to go to the tiger cave temple in Krabi, he talked us through the local buses we had to take, which cost us about 200thb, and saved us a ton of money. We had even asked the local tour information service and they insisted that there was no bus and that we would have to take a taxi for 1500thb. His advice and local knowledge was far superior than anything we could have hoped for and his suggestions were perfect each time for our mood.
Finally, Alvaro is just a fantastic person and guide. The whole tour experience was more like travelling with a good friend. We were constantly commenting about how we'd forgotten he was our guide. He was so relaxed, friendly and enthusiastic that we couldn't help but love spending time with him, and his advice was so reliable that we felt we could trust him implicitly. When Alvaro said he knew a great restaurant or bar, we never questioned it, we just followed his advice and every single time was amazing. We found some incredible hidden gems thanks to him and his presence made our trip significantly more memorable.
We're super grateful that we had Alvaro as our tour guide and not only would I be more than happy to do a Busabout tour again, but I'm confident that I would try to time my next tour around when Alvaro is leading it.
Alvaro aside, we were quite worried that the Busabout tour would be another booze cruise with 'organised fun' 24/7 before we arrived, but Busabout was so relaxed and flexible that we felt comfortable jumping in and out of the tour when it suited us, and that really made the tour something we would happily do again. As mentioned, the quality of the guides also made this tour really fantastic and I'd happily recommend it to my friends and family.

We had a fantastic trip by all counts. There were one or two things that may not have gone according to the original plan, but Alvaro adapted and made sure we were taken care of and that all nonetheless had a good time.
I am happy to unreservedly recommend busabout's Vietnam Adventure, especially if you can book Alvaro as your guide. He made our holiday!

The diversity of Vietnam is truly remarkable and this tour definitely covered a great deal of that variety, so you left feeling like you had truly experienced all Vietnam had to offer.
What made this tour truly amazing, though, was the BEST tour guide in the world!! Alvaro was energetic, organised and managed everything thrown his way - whether it was dealing with bus drivers who were late, putting in an order for 24 people in a restaurant where no one spoke English or nagging the bus company to look for lost property - he had it covered! He was always in a good mood and nothing was too much to ask. We've done a few organised tours and nothing compares to the service we received from him! Alvaro was easily the best guide we have ever had.

Al really went above and beyond in every single aspect of the tour, with questions, organisation and just his personality really made my trip. Nothing was too much of a hassle for him! Being vegan while travelling makes me anxious thinking about breakfast lunch and dinner times knowing there is always a chance I may not be able to eat anything, but Al was extremely accommodating at every single meal there was not one moment where he forgot, it really made my trip a breeze! Not only was he extremely knowledgeable about every destination but relatable with an awesome personality he really made my trip so much fun and so memorible! He always had a smile on his face had excitement every day for what was around the corner even though he would have already done it about 10 times over! I really can’t thank Al enough for an amazing trip! One I will never forget!

He was fun, approachable, knowledgable, patient, informative and enthusiastic. He made the tour what it was and his attitude really permeated through everyone.
The accommodation was great. I was pleasantly surprised with this. I was happy with all of the hotels and they were all in great, central locations.
I felt that Alvaro took us to some really cool places for meals and drinks and showed us things that we wouldn't have known about ourselves. I particularly enjoyed the sunset bar in Mai Chau, and the 100 roofs Cafe in Da lat.
The Buses were probably the only drawback. We went through 3 or 4 buses over the course of the trip, where the size and comfort levels varied significantly. We also had a bus breakdown where we were stuck for 3.5 hours waiting and didn't reach Nha Trang until after midnight. This was quite frustrating, however understandably these things happen and it was nice to have a free meal later in the trip to compensate.
I feel like it would be good if dinners were covered by Busabout, as generally we ate out as a group anyway and this was always an additional cost.
Overall, I had an amazing time on the Vietnam Adventure and was so grateful to have Alvaro as a guide. He is incredibly capable, one of a kind, and I would be very happy to follow him around on a tour anywhere else!

From the moment I met …Traveling to Cambodia was not something I thought I'd be doing this year... or ever really. I always pictured myself in North America or Europe or all inclusive beach resorts...
From the moment I met Alvaro and he introduced himself I knew I was in good care and this was going to be one amazing trip. I fell in love with Cambodia with my group and with my tour guide! Everything was so meticulously organized and the knowledge he had allowed him to answer ANY of our questions. We felt so comfortable with him we knew he would only recommend the best places and every time they were not a let down. My partner and I found ourselves in a heartbreaking situation - the ring I had purchased her for her birthday had been left behind in our first hotel. Alvaro, without hesitation, came up with ideas, made calls and arrangements and had organized for the ring to be sent from the hotel all the way across the country to a bus terminal on our last stop. It was there! It was the right one! We are forever grateful to him for this. Nothing was a challenge or too hard for him, no one was too difficult - he took everything in his stride, always remained calm and always knew how to get the party started! If Bus a Bout brought in a new round the world tour and Alvaro was the leader - I would sign up straight away (or I'd have to contract him privately!) I can safely say Alvaro is the best tour guide I've ever had and now friend. Whenever he is in Sydney, we always meet up!

He went above an beyond to ensure we were enjoying ourselves. He had amazing knowledge of the areas we travelled to, the history and culture. He took great care of me when i was sick. We actually miss him on day trips he's not there as he became a friend with each of us! He also cares about all our needs no matter how small or insignificant they may seem! We also had a lot of logistic stuff ups that were out of our control and he handled it so well! 75 have a great vibe to the group!

I could not recommend this tour enough, all the extras were amazing and definitely worth it, the hotels were to an excellent standard and the restaurants we were taken to were great as well. What really made this tour amazing to me was our guide Alvaro. He truly is a one of a kind guide and a massive asset to the busabout team. I have traveled four months throughout Europe with busabout and have experienced many guides, however I can wholeheartedly say that Alvaro was the best of the best. He had so much professionalism in the way he conducted this tour but was extremely fun the whole time. He had so much attention to detail and knowledge about the country. Whenever someone had an issue, problem or request he made it of the upmost importance to have it solved as soon as possible. My partner is a vegan and whenever we went to a restaurant he ensured she was properly looked after every single time. He was extremely patient with the entirety of the people on the tour, and any dramas that came our way. Cool calm and collected, yet fun and truly cared about everyone he was responsible for. I cannot recommend busabout enough, but furthermore, our tour guide Alvaro!

A few hotels didn't have hot running water in the showers though which was frustrating, especially considering how sticky the weather was. Our guide Alvaro was incredible and honestly faultless - the perfect blend of fun and facts, and was always positive and in control of the situation, even when our bus to Nha Trang broke down and we were stranded for several hours! All of his suggestions for places to eat or sightsee were all 100% perfect as well. Couldn't more highly recommend a guide.

Alvaro was a fantastic tour guide. He had amazing energy and kept the spirits of the group very high throughout the tour. He was extremely knowledgable and his knowledge of history of the region was very impressive. He was constantly enthusiastic and made the tour incredibly enjoyable. He also made sure the welfare of the group was a top priority and ensured we got the most out of every experience. I love to go on not only another Busabout tour in south east asia but definitely a tour that Alvaro was leading as he was an excellent tour guide.

During this time I was lucky enough to take part in the November 5th departure of Busabout's 7 day Thai adventure.
I can with complete honesty say that my time on the tour was my favourite part of my trip. My guide Alvero Calderon was a bundle of fun energy and enthusiasm and made every activity we did over the 7 days into an amazing experience. Being that I was travelling alone his excitement and quick wit also really brought the group together. We were also joined by a number of local guides who were supremely knowledgeable and really gave us a taste of the history and culture of the north of Thailand. The accommodations were stunning and the optional activities were clearly well thought out and planned to help make the trip really engaging.
My only regret is not having done the longer option into Loas !
Keep up the amazing work Alvero and Busabout Asia, I'll be back.
