I thought the itinerary was really well balanced. The downtime on the beach days was well received. All hotels were of a decent standard, with good pools and breakfasts. Food was a lot cheaper in land and the buffet restaurants had good variety. Food on the coast was a little more expensive and I would question some of them in hikkaduwa (poor service). Big shout out to the local guide for his knowledge and the drivers for keeping the journey safe and smooth. If you want to see sri lanka this is definitely the tour for it. We'll organised, lots to see and do and a lot of great people meet along the way.

I felt like we covered alot of the country in a relatively short space of time and we did alot of activities in the day which I thought was great. The coast however could have included a few more activities such as an included surfing lesson.
The local guide (Rias) was fantastic, as was the bus driver and his assistant.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

There was nothing they wouldn’t do for us and when we hit a few bumps in the road (train delays, road closures, poor weather) they always made sure we didn’t miss out and rearranged a few things.
If you’re planning on doing the Maldives add-on I would absolutely recommend it. It’s the perfect way to relax after an amazing couple of weeks in Sri Lanka. The itinerary has a good balance between planned activities and free time.

Some of the accommodation and restaurant are really impressive. The tour is well organised and the team always made sure that things go smoothly and are on schedule. It is also good to know from the tour that One Life takes initiative to be environmental friendly (plastic free) and to help out locals.
Special thanks to:-
Rich, a responsible and helpful guide, who likes his food and pineapple juice.
Ravi, the local guide, who is very knowledgeable and helpful. He is like a father to everyone in the tour.
Krishantha, the driver, who will pump up the volume when Backstreet Boys is on.
Morgan, the assistant, who always welcome everyone to the bus with a big smile.
Shoutout to the "Squat Team", hope to see you again soon!

Our transport was fantastic, Nishata and morgan drove safe all the time and were the best DJs for our backstreet boys party's on the bus. They also had an umbrella every time we had to leave the bus or came back so we didn't get wet. That was really lovely!
Our one life adventure guide was rich, which I recommend to you! He had the best tips and tricks for us to get our pictures and be safe on the streets, he take care of us and did a really good job!!
So if you thinking about to do a trip with one life adventure in Sri Lanka, do it! You will love this country! =)

Would highly recommend this tour especially they focused on projects to save the environment and helping local people

Our local guide, Ravie, explained a lot about the history of the country. All inclusive activities were interesting, unfortunately, it rained almost every day, but that's something you can not influence much. I recommend this tour to anyone who wants to take a look at Sri Lanka. But if you want to explore the capital Colombo, or other beautiful spots, you should plan a few more days.
Great tour, felt like really experienced the country in a relaxed way. Loads packed in but balanced. Would like to mention Rhias as extra helpful to us as no way to flag that through this.

Loved the arranged activities, transport, accom and the tour guides made me feel safe and provided a good foundation of knowledge across the trip. I particularly liked how we had a cultural tour guide and a activities tour guide which provided a blend of expertise. My recommendation would be more organised social activities and more recommendations for free time/ food.

Having the bus as a base to leave our stuff on and to travel around was really great especially not having to lug around our bags for the likes of the train. I really liked One Life ethos of being plastic free and sourcing tours which treat their staff fairly. Having a local guide Rihas on the tour too was a really great asset and has such a great knowledge of the country. There were times where we had a free evening/ afternoon to do our own thing where meals were pre booked and sometimes felt we couldn’t do own thing so we wanted different food options. Also being a solo traveler it would be nice to have an ice breaker at the beginning of the tour to get to know everyone. I would definitely use One Life again and recommend to others.

Everything was so seamless in the tour and it was great not having to make decisions. Rihas was an absolute delight and really made the trip special. The only thing I would change was the food choices. The first half had a few too many buffets and the second half had too much western food. I get there are limited options and it can be hard for groups but a bit more research should be done here to improve this aspect of the tour. We found great options outselves but it would be nice not to rely on trip advisor. It would also be good if the itinerary was a bit more flexible with the weather and left places earlier or later as needed to make the most of places in the sun. Overall I was very happy with the tour and would definitely reccomend to a friend.

I would have loved a stop to the markets included in the itinerary, we had an option to go by ourselves but were left a bit clueless when we were by ourselves. The guide was great, the itinerary was pretty good, value for money was well spent, experience and getting a real taste of the country was 10/10 thanks to the tour. I would recommend to friends and family most definitely! (Although we did not go on the train ride and would like to know where our money went instead, even an explanation...not a big deal though). Would come again!

Rich was a fabulous tour guide, his communication with the group was always clear and consistent and it felt like he was just another friend on the tour. Manju was always so lovely and very helpful. Between the two of them, I never once felt uncomfortable or unsafe. My only feedback is that it would be nice to have a bit more of a ‘brief’ on each city/location we were going to, and even a really quick run around the block in the bus to understand our surroundings at our new home for the night! Overall, I had a ball and would 100% recommend this tour to friends and family :)

Tour guide and local guide were very knowledgeable and I appreciated the ethical tourism aspects encouraged by the company and it's suppliers. Travelled as a couple so the hotel accommodation suited on this occassion (was worth paying the add on for private rooms in the hostels) and the add on safari in Kaudulla is definitely worth doing. Met some great people, had an awesome time, you won't regret booking this tour!

Through a well planned itinerary you are able to get a good taste and feel of Sri Lankan history and culture and see far more of the country than I would have been able to if I decided to go solo. Everything that the tour operator & guide were able to be in control of went smoothly and was well organised, yet still managed to ensure a relaxing time. I love the feeling of respect to local people, local culture and to tourism and the people on the tour that one life brings to the table. The bus we used to get around was amazing and saved me from melting away due to the heat several times, and I enjoyed every part of the activities included in the tour.
All the accommodation was lovely, well kept and clean.. some places were difficult to get a hot shower but that's just most places in Sri Lanka.
Rich was attentive to each and every one of us and made sure we were at ease, well informed, relaxed and all had a good time. As someone who is part of the LGBTQI+ community, and knowing that it is still technically illegal in Sri Lanka (Although no one has been convicted in over 60 years), I still managed to feel safe and comfortable whilst travelling in Sri Lanka - this wouldn't have been possible without an excellent group of people and the sound trusting advice from our tour guide.
In summary. You need to book this trip. Its amazing.
Bravo OneLife! You're onto a winner.

I think an ice breaker to start with so everyone can get to know each other a little when we all first meet.
I think on the itinerary it should mention we may need more rupee for the tips as well. It was listed we only need $2000 rupee but in reality we needed $4000 rupee for the bus driver, assistant and Manju etc first time tour travelers may not consider this in their budget.
It would have been nice if Manju, bus driver and his assistant joined us for meals to. Just to get to know them and make it more of a family group.
Also maybe a quick city tour when we arrive - I understand that in a 20+ seater bus this isn’t always easy.
Other than the above the tour was great, accommodation was always clean and in a nice location. I thought it would a little more backpacker style so was definitely happy with warm showers and nice beds etc
The group size was good too, not too small or too big.
I always just wanted to commend Rich on the issue with the puppy at the end of the tour and crystal mine. He did all he could do in that situation and remained professional as well as educating the group.
I also liked the discussion around ethical travel. This subject is one I didn’t know too much about so I am really keen to learn more.
Would definitely recommend this trip personally to friends as well as professionally at work.

I’ve travelled on 2 G adventure tours prior to this One Life Adventures trip and I’ve found previous tour guides to be very “military” in their style of leading the group.
What I liked about Rich is his ability to successfully lead the tour group, whilst respecting that everyone is on holiday and it’s ok to be 2 minutes late or want to stay in one evening rather than going out with the tour group (as examples). He also kept the group entertained with music and quizzes and was extremely knowledgable when it came to almost anything. He encouraged us to be respectful of the locals and their culture and is highly educated in ethical tourism, without preaching or pushing any ideals into the individuals in the group. Rich also made a conscious effort to listen to any issues the group had and most importantly, problem solved every time and took action. Likewise the local tour guides were excellent, although I felt we could have used Manju’s knowledge much more than we did.
The itinerary was excellent with a strong variety of things to do also and I feel much more educated about ethical tourism.
In terms of areas for development for One Life Adventures as a tour company, I would recommend the following;
1. The tour was educational and informative but I didn’t have “the time of my life”. I got a lot from the experience but I wouldn’t say I had loads of “fun”. The itinerary was very focussed on learning about the culture and ethical tourism rather than doing fun stuff and going quad biking and water sports and bar crawls and local beach parties and mixing with other western travellers for example.
2. Having a twin share was really difficult because you are instantly allocated your room share without having met anyone first. It felt like those that had arrived early had an unfair advantage.
3. The people on the tour was very mixed and felt extremely “cliquey” which I didn’t appreciate and slightly ruined my experience.
4. The tour was 99% women and I don’t think this was very good for the group dynamic
5. There was such a massive focus on ethical tourism that it felt a bit like a lecture on how to be a good traveller - rather than a free spirited “fun” trip
6. Kandy wasn’t very nice and I’m not sure how much we gained from being there
7. The moonstone visit was not an ethical experience as we witnessed animal cruelty and then were sent to the shop to buy produce
8. It felt very “Instagram” heavy with everything being about getting the perfect picture. I’m not sure how much we enjoyed being at a destination rather than being there for the picture.
9. Timings never seemed to add up. For example rich would say “30 mins to X” and we’d arrive in 5 minutes.
Overall a fantastic experience and I only provide the above as rooms for improvement.
Thank you One Life!

Everything is well worked out for time and being at the right place at the right time to get the best view for everything we did. Our train to Ella was a hour late, we were told how to get the best spot to get our "Instragram selfie".

It was a super easy way to get around a country that isn’t that easy to navigate. I thought it was great how many meals were included and even the ones that weren’t were still pre organised for us (minus a couple of lunches). The accommodation was well above my expectations. Definitely not 5 star resorts but still better than I thought it would be. Our guide Rich, was amazing. He was super professional, easy to get along with and bent over backwards to make our tour perfect. We had a few minor hiccups along the way but he always made sure to try to fix it and make up for it at the next place. I think it’s great what One Life are doing and I’m so glad I decided to go on this journey and had a great team to do it with.

The quality of the transportation and the guides was 10/10! Rihas, our local guide was especially knowledgeable about Sri Lankan history, and Rich, our main guide, did a great job for his first tour (and first time in most of the cities we visited!!) - it would have been helpful to be given more recommendations on what to do during our free time, as well as how to spend any time after the end of the tour (we ended up going cross country to Arugambay on the advice of our initial tour guide, Simen, which was awesome and well worth seeing).
Recommendations: do the optional safari at Minneria for truly amazing elephant sightings. Stuff your face with Chandi’s epic buffet. Take the seasickness tablets before the Whale Watching!!!!! Make Ella your big team night out and takeover the speakers for impromptu karaoke (pack extra headache tablets to do Ella Rock in the AM, even if just to smugly tell the others you did it). Drink cheap mojitos on the beaches at Mirissa and make the most of every minute as it’s over way too quickly!!

Absolutely recomm…Great itinerary! Lots packed in. First half of action packed, second half more gentler pace with free afternoons. Did the optional Elephant safari in Dambulla - that was spectacular! Absolutely recommend doing Ella Rock on the free day in Ella. Well worth the hike up and the walk on the train line. The view is breathtaking. Train from Kandy to Ella is epic and should be on everyone's bucket list. Sunrise hike up Pidurangala was another highlight, although that wasn't part of the tour, but something our guide (Simen) was doing himself. The scheduled Pidranhala hike is amazing as it is. We were lucky enough to see Whales during the whale watching. That was pretty special.
Guides - Simen was awesome - this was my second tour with him. Rich took over halfway and also did a great job. Our local guide, Rias was amazing. Great knowledge of Sri Lanka. Always available to help and assist in anyway. The rest of the team also did a great job.

I liked the fact that there was also a local guide, who told us the story of Sri Lanka, showed us typical things and also helped to organise.
The tour is supposed to be plastic free which I find very cool and should definitely become a standard.
The accomodations are perfect, except one hostel in Kandy, which I would change in this tour.
It would be cool to change some parts of the route in the off season, for example to the east coast!
It was definitely worth it to book this tour, and I consider to do one again with onelifeadventures.
Thank you for an amazing experience!

I’d definitely recommend this tour to anyone who asked but would suggest they do it during peak season as weather can be temperamental in September and a lot of places are super quiet as a result!

Rich, Ravi, Morgan and Krishantha were all so kind and resourceful, they provided the best services to help us get the most of our time in Sri Lanka and getting immersed in the local culture. There's a good variety of local cuisine and western food options throughout the journey. My only slight criticism though I feel many activities on the tour were quite physically challenging. So if you're not very fit and choose not to participate you might miss out on quite a bit. Hot shower and wifi might be hard to come by on some of the accommodations, but that's easily fixed with some body wipes, dry shampoo and a data sim card.
