About me:Hey all, my name is Jared and I'm an Australian with Irish, Dutch and Italian roots, who fell in love with travel when my parents dragged my 10 year old, ungrateful backside around the globe. Once I was old enough I set off on an adventure to see as much as I could around the world and I feel I've given it a fair shake so far. Since leaving high school I've lived/worked/studied in places like Berlin, San Francisco, Valencia, Seoul, Banff, Exeter and travelled to around 50 countries worldwide, but my heart belongs in Europe. Since 2017, I've been guiding for Topdeck Travel throughout the continent and trying to become as much of a local as I can. People often ask me, do you not get sick of visiting these cities? Well the answer is an emphatic NO! Even if I've visited a place many times, I will never grow tired of the look of wonder when people see famous sights for the first time or the pure astonishment when I tell people an interesting fact that they had no idea about. My main goal as a guide is to help people discover a similar passion as I have for a certain city or country and to help them to understand why that place it is the way it is. Oh and I love making a whole bunch of new friends along the way!

He was very welcoming, inclusive and friendly. Our entire tour was seamless and Jared had exceptional knowledge about all the places we visited, including history dating back thousands of years, which I found very interesting and relatable. The guide we had, Jared, was super friendly and was an expert around all the locations we visited. He intimately knew all the places we visited, the history, the locations, where the best places to eat/drink/get money/get photos were at. He made us feel comfortable on the tour and was friendly and hospitable the whole time.
The bus trips were great, stopping every 2 hours or so for decent breaks and places that had good food, the driver making the trip very comfortable on motorways and in tight city streets.
All of the hotel accomodation booked by topdeck was great, a few places had central heating and lacked AC which meant for a few warm nights but other than that they all had good breakfast, English speaking concierge and clean rooms.
Itinerary was great, plenty of included activities like river cruises in Amsterdam and walking tours of all the cities. Would highly recommend for solo travellers and groups.

Travel with Jared and you will not regret it, his long-standing expertise of Europe really shows through his passion for his work. He’s also a great laugh and deserves massive credit due to the hard work his passengers / guests don't always see such as admin and logistics.

Jared had a wealth of knowledge regarding each city/country we visited. I particularly enjoyed how he went through the history of each city/monument and was impressed with his level of knowledge throughout the whole trip! He always had awesome suggestions of things to do and places to eat.

Topdeck has great excursion options and Jared has top notch recommends for anything and everything else (but mainly food and bars).
Transportation is average because it’s a bus. Can’t exactly make that any more fancy than it is.
Accommodation is average because there were so many along the way. Some amazing and others not. So it averages out.
Meals are average for me on a vegan diet. There was always plenty of food to be had, but keeping it plant based meant there wasn’t a larger variety for me. Especially not in Italy.

Our driver: Simon was super lovely and really approachable and relaxed. Very professional and got us all around with no issues.
The buss was kept to the highest standard of cleaning with Simon looking after it, however very out dated. For the money we all paid, that was a let down. To see other buses that must better condition with comfort.

What really made the whole trip though was Jared, he was incredibly enthusiastic and had more knowledge in his pinky finger than I could ever imagine was possible. He was an absolute legend of a human being, I nagged him with loads of questions daily and he answered every single one with kindness and clarity. His Australian slang was the most hilarious thing and sometimes made him hard to understand but we had a laugh and he always cleared up any confusion right away. Anyone who gets this genius guiding their tour is one lucky human being.

The tour was awesome, Topdeck's pretty much a good time guarantee and they always make sure they have some serious LEGENDS as guides!
So why was Jared just the absolute BEST? SO MANY reasons! He nails that fine line between being Professional and essentially being awarded "Best on tour". He knows his stuff, history is on point and so interesting when he tells it (I am not really a huge history buff you know) but Jared intrigued me with his wit and commentary on our walking AND driving tours. After spending 7 weeks with people you tend to have your ups and downs but Jared managed to maintain an awesome family vibe the entire time! Extendo familia for life! Our group was pretty much the only ones up there and we were able to enjoy the beauty of the sunset in peace.

I had such an amazing time on the tour! It was one of the best months of my life. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Jared made everyone feel welcome and included and made an already awesome trip eve…I had such an amazing time on the tour! It was one of the best months of my life. I'm planning on doing another trip in the fall because of how great everything was.

Jared achieved the fine, but important …This was my first big European Odyssey and I had the best time and made some beautiful friendships, and I’m so happy that I got to have Jared as my trip leader. Jared achieved the fine, but important balance of being both a respected trip leader who we could turn to for advice and help; and also a friend having a blast on the adventure with us. I think I can speak for everyone on the tour in that it was one of the most amazing experiences that I’ll remember forever.

Jared was an absolutely amazing tour guide, and I highly recommend going on one of his tours! He was the perfect balance of fun, informative, friendly, organized, and chill (not to mention the great travel song choices). His enthusiasm for the different cities and their histories was contagious and created a fun, informative experience that allowed for not only unforgettable memories, but deep appreciation and respect for the destinations and their cultures. With a wealth of knowledge about each location, Jared made great suggestions for the use of free time, food stops, and lined up amazing optional activities based on our interests that allowed us to come together and experience the trip as a group rather than just individuals. As a solo traveller, I was nervous coming a week into a trip, but Jared made sure the group reached out to new comers along the way, instigating what would be an amazing group of new friends while becoming a friend himself. I'll never forget the memories I made during my tour and look forward to staying in touch with my crew and hopefully taking another of Jared's tours in the future! I can't recommend enough going on a tour with Jared!

The tour was so organised and allowed me to see the iconic parts of Europe in 24 days. There were so many optional activities to choose from (I particularly loved the skiing in Austria) and there were…The tour was so organised and allowed me to see the iconic parts of Europe in 24 days. There were so many optional activities to choose from (I particularly loved the skiing in Austria) and there were a fantastic amount of included activities (I loved the walking tours of the cities as we got a feel of the city and some of the history about it, before then being able to explore it on our own). With Jared and our bus driver Deyan, we all felt safe and in good hands as they took us on a wonderful journey through Europe! Jared was a fantastic tour leader - he was so enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and relatable. If we wanted to do something or go somewhere that wasn’t the iconic tourist thing to do in a destination, Jared could always give us a good recommendation. Overall, the trip was an amazing experience, one that I would love to do again, and I wouldn’t hesitate to have Jared as a tour leader again!

As a beginner solo traveller it gave me the opportunity to learn about new places and discover places I’d like to return to in the future and discover more of. You also get to meet and travel with people from all over the world (mostly Australians and New Zealanders) and become a little family with the whole tour group. Made amazing experiences. Also the tips about each place on safety and cultural norms helped the experience and made for less stress on my behalf and the parents.
