About me:I'm a language, history and culture geek from Brisbane Australia who is travelling the world and making it bleed orange as a Busabout Tour Guide. 2019 has seen me guide over 19 countries and 55 cities throughout Europe, help 150 festival goers navigate Tomorrowland, the world largest music festival, guided tours off the beaten track in Eastern Europe, and even navigated the stunning Turkish Coastline for 12 weeks as the Sail Turkey guide, where I really got to make the trip my own and nurture it into what I believe is Busabout's best tour. While it doesn't really feel like work to me, I feel honoured that my fellow colleagues at Busabout have awarded me Crew Member of the Year, Bleeding Orange (Company Award), and Social Media Gun for the year of 2019. I'm currently looking forward to working the next 18 months across Busabout Vietnam and Cambodia. I started my career as an events team leader and MC for Nova 106.9 in Brisbane Australia, before moving to sales and marketing. Since graduating a bachelor of Mass Communications majoring in Advertising and Entertainment, I now love turning my great passions into a career - these are; good people, good drinks, good food, good music, travel, culture and history! I can't wait to see what 2020 holds.

Besides that he is the biggest Foodie I have ever met and always had awesome recommendations for food. Due to games on the bus, the longer rides just flew by. This tour wouldn't have been what it was if it were not for Cal's passion for adventure and his bags of knowledge. Cal knows how to untie a group of people and bring the best out in them. I made friends for life on this tour. This was the first tour I have been on where the whole group felt like a family. Cal's skill as a guide made this possible.
'Story time with Cal' was a great portion of this trip, he would share the history of the place we were in. He did this an entertaining and non-biased way. His passion for history made this particularity enjoyable, other guides I've had make this portion of these tours seem like a chore, with Cal it was anything but. It was a highlight. It's quite clear he has put in a lot time, effort and research to ensure that every passenger get's the best out his tours.
Cal has a commitment and passion for this job and boy does it show. He rallies the group and get's everyone involved. Yet at the same time you can easily forget you're spending time with a tour guide and not just a good mate. I wouldn't hesitate to book onto a tour Cal was leading, no matter the destination as with Cal he makes the journey matter. Cal would be an asset to any employer with his unique ability to mix professionalism with fun, passion and an amazing ability to read group dynamics ensuring the group is getting the right experience.
Another thing Cal should be proud of is is his passion for the environment. He encouraged everyone to bring a reusable water bottle. Also, introduced us to 'take3forthesea' to make sure we don't leave a mark and help to keep sea clean if other's do.
The only negative, that we only had 7 days with him because at the end week it was like leaving a good mate I'd known my whole life. I honestly believe that this tour would not have been anywhere near this good if it were not led by Cal.
This was by far my most memorable trip of 4 years living in Europe thanks to Cal. Hands down the best tour guide I've had and one hell of a bloke to be around.

His thirst for adventure and history knows no bounds and he's happy to share this wisdom with the group, enriching his tours beyond the planned itinerary. We were very fortunate to have a brilliant group of people where everyone got on well and he fit into that group perfectly. He is great fun, genuine and kind. I have no doubt this tour would have been less enjoyable without him as our guide. I wish him the best for his next challenge in Vietnam and hope to see him for a beer or 2 back in London one day in the future!

Cal was an absolute legend and the best tour guide I've ever experienced. His enthusiasm, passion, invested interest in ensuring we had a good time, kind nature and ability to include and relate to 20 different personalities really set the tour apart from others I'd been on. He was continuously looking for ways to improve the tour, sought feedback and acted on it, gave us awesome recommendations to enhance our experience, and also encouraged us to keep the world beautiful by adopting the initiative 'take3fortheSea'. He read the group dynamics well, and knew when to let us just chill, or when the mood needs a bit of a boost and encouragement - great balance! From his initial welcome email to the final night out, he had energy by the bucket loads and made the trip so memorable.
I continued travelling in Turkey for the week after the trip, and it was from 'story time with Cal' that these experiences were more enriched, as he also helped educate us on all things Turkey in a fun, yet interesting way.
This guy is going great and wonderful places and I'm sure will have a positive impact on any tour you take with him. I look forward to following his adventures along the way!

I have never met someone to be so knowledgeable and educated in their field of work and to show that off to us with the passion that he does. You can tell that this guy loves his job more then life itself.
On my Turkey sail I watched Cal work the group of 20 making the effort to get to know everyone one by one within the first hour or so!
Even though he was our guide, he made us know and feel that he was also 'our pal, Cal' and that we could talk to him about anything at anytime.
I was sitting with Cal when he was going that extra step studying muslim religion, and it truly did change the perspectives of others on the boat which was beautiful.
And I never thought I would be so interested in history and religion until 'Story times with Cal'. Cal is so well spoken it's hard not to listen and learn. It was one of my highlights having him tell us something new every day.
Cal is also good at handling a situation. There was a scary one that happened on our sail that had the entire boat stressed out, and the way he handled that just proves how he is the superhero of guides.
His passion for his job doesnt stop there but continues with 'take 3 for the sea'. I love seeing how much of a difference this guy is making and the impact he is having on all us that travel with him.
Having Cal as your guide sets the bar high for all the other guides, which can leave you disappointed when they dont even come close to the level Cal delivers. Thanks to Cal, my travel experiences that involved him are the best ones I've had and I've been traveling Europe since the beginning of May.
Cal is no longer 'Cal the guide' but a friend for life!

The food on tour was out of this world, I haven't eaten that well on any tour I have ever done, I take my hat off to the chef to cook that kind of food in such a small kitchen!

The meals were delicious and plentiful and gave you a taste of Turkish cuisine.

It was hard to believe it was his first season, he was full of so much information and had answers and help for us with ever…Callum was hands down the best tour guide we’ve had in our two months here. It was hard to believe it was his first season, he was full of so much information and had answers and help for us with every question we had. Not only that but he made the bus ride fun with history told in such an interesting way combined with the corniest jokes. I genuinely had so much fun which I didn’t expect on an 11 hour trip. I wish that he’d done my Greek island tour so I could have gotten 2 weeks rather than 2 days with him. Cal did amazing!

The tour was great, the places we visited were excellent, and Callum was very knowledgeable and helpful. There were some issues - the lack of wifi on the bus, which was for some reason given to people…The tour was great, the places we visited were excellent, and Callum was very knowledgeable and helpful. There were some issues - the lack of wifi on the bus, which was for some reason given to people from the hop on hop off network who pay less than we did. Also in accomodation, the paid upgrade was not worth the cost as everyone was given similar rooms, and in one case, they got better rooms, despite us paying to be upgraded, which was quite disappointing. We also expected some form of arranged transport, and were quite shocked initially that we were to catch public transport to and from the cities. Overall, I would recommend Busabout again, and recommend Callum as he did a great job, but we would do hop on and hop off to save money and get better accomodation.

Although it was a bit disappointing that the extras such as the main places and sights to see weren't included in the trip. It felt like the coach and accommodation is what we paid for. I think the tour and recommendations should stick to only authentic Italian as that's what we want. The same information about the places were repeated numerous times as well which made it a bit tedious. More organisation would have helped the trip too.

We had Cal on our travel leg from Salzburg to Bratislava and he was great. A born entertainer! He made the journey feel like a road trip with friends.

He also always takes the group out to show us where all the sights are, the best food, how much to pay for things and best places to drink. Couldn't give him any type of criticism at all.

Cal has just a great passion for each town/city which really shows in the way he talks about them. Once arrived in Florence he took us all for a lovely walking tour to the best spots before ending the evening with some much loved karaoke.

The tents were cold and wet, the breakfast was average*, but I still managed to have the best time of my life and would not only do it again, but recommend it to anybody!
