  • Days 1-3

    Iceland Exploration

    Board the Scenic Eclipse in Reykjavik before 2 PM on day one. You'll have time to get comfortable in your suite and look around the ship before departure. The next stop is Grundarfjörður where the stunning Kirkjufell mountain makes for perfect photos. On day three you'll see the impressive Dynjandi Waterfall in the Westfjords. The 100-meter falls create lots of spray so waterproof gear is essential.

    
  • Days 4-7

    Eastern Greenland

    A sea day takes you to Greenland where you'll explore the Fridtjof Nansen peninsula and see the massive Greenland Ice Sheet meeting the ocean. The next few days take you through Skjoldungen Fjord and Prince Christian Sound. These passages only open in summer when the ice melts enough for ships to pass between the glaciers and granite cliffs.

    
  • Days 8-12

    Southern Greenland

    Visit Narsaq where Viking Erik the Red settled over 1000 years ago and see Nuuk's colorful buildings in Greenland's capital. You'll hear glaciers calving in Evighed Fjord and visit Ilulissat, which means "iceberg" in Inuit. The World Heritage Icefjord here is spectacular. The Sermeq Kujalleq Glacier releases 46 cubic kilometers of ice every year.

    
  • Days 13-18

    Western Greenland

    Your journey continues to Kangerlussuaq and its ice cap before spending time around Ilulissat's Disko Bay watching enormous icebergs. You'll see the active Eqip Sermia Glacier and visit Sisimiut just north of the Arctic Circle. Look for local crafts made from qiviut (muskox wool) here.

    Atlantic Canada

    Cross the Davis Strait to Newfoundland and L'Anse aux Meadows, the only confirmed Viking site in North America. You'll explore Gros Morne National Park and the historic Fortress of Louisbourg. The maritime climate can change quickly so pack layers.

    Maritime Provinces & New England

  • Days 1-2

    Iceland to Greenland

    Plan to arrive in Reykjavik a day early to get used to the northern latitude. Visit Hallgrímskirkja church in the morning to avoid crowds. On Day 2, fly to Nuuk, Greenland's capital. Pack clothing layers since Nuuk's temperatures typically range from 40-60°F in summer.

    West Greenland Exploration

    Take three days to discover West Greenland. Walk the UNESCO icefjord trails in Ilulissat during early morning for the best photos. Visit the historic district in Sisimiut and browse traditional crafts. The qiviut items made from muskox wool are incredibly warm. A scarf will cost about $200 but it's worth the investment.

    Baffin Bay Crossing

    Use sea days to join citizen science programs while crossing Baffin Bay. Listen for wildlife announcements from deck officers. You might spot whales, seabirds or polar bears on ice floes. Bring good binoculars rated at least 7x50.

    Eastern Canadian Arctic

    Enter the Northwest Passage through Lancaster Sound. Your stops will change based on ice and weather. Learn about Inuit culture at Pond Inlet. When you visit Beechey Island to see Franklin Expedition sites, wear strong hiking boots for the rough ground.

    Western Northwest Passage

    Pass through the challenging Bellot Strait into the western Northwest Passage. Stop at remote towns like Cambridge Bay and Gjoa Haven where you can buy local art. Look for Arctic wildlife near Coronation Gulf. Pack warm accessories since summer temperatures usually stay below 50°F.

    Beaufort Sea & Bering Strait

    Cross these waters and the International Date Line. Bring motion sickness medicine as seas can be rough. You'll have plenty of lectures about Arctic exploration during sea days.

    Nome to Seattle

  • Days 1-2

    Ottawa

    Start in Canada's capital. Get to Parliament Hill and the Rideau Canal early in your visit.     Montreal

    Toronto & Niagara Falls
