27 Day Arctic Expedition Itinerary, incl. Iceland and Greenland
A grand 27-day voyage connects 11 destinations across Iceland, Greenland, Canada, and USA. The route showcases Reykjavik's culture, Greenland's Ilulissat Icefjord, L'Anse aux Meadows Viking settlement, and historic Lunenburg. Daily Zodiac excursions and customized shore activities enrich each port visit.
- Days 1-3
Iceland Exploration
Board the Scenic Eclipse in Reykjavik before 2 PM on day one. You'll have time to get comfortable in your suite and look around the ship before departure. The next stop is Grundarfjörður where the stunning Kirkjufell mountain makes for perfect photos. On day three you'll see the impressive Dynjandi Waterfall in the Westfjords. The 100-meter falls create lots of spray so waterproof gear is essential.
- Days 4-7
Eastern Greenland
A sea day takes you to Greenland where you'll explore the Fridtjof Nansen peninsula and see the massive Greenland Ice Sheet meeting the ocean. The next few days take you through Skjoldungen Fjord and Prince Christian Sound. These passages only open in summer when the ice melts enough for ships to pass between the glaciers and granite cliffs.
- Days 8-12
Southern Greenland
Visit Narsaq where Viking Erik the Red settled over 1000 years ago and see Nuuk's colorful buildings in Greenland's capital. You'll hear glaciers calving in Evighed Fjord and visit Ilulissat, which means "iceberg" in Inuit. The World Heritage Icefjord here is spectacular. The Sermeq Kujalleq Glacier releases 46 cubic kilometers of ice every year.
- Days 13-18
Western Greenland
- Days 19-23
Atlantic Canada
- Days 24-27
Maritime Provinces & New England
26 Days Northwest Passage, incl. Reykjavik and Seattle
A remarkable 26-day expedition links 12 destinations from Iceland's Reykjavik to USA's Seattle. The route features Greenland's UNESCO-listed Ilulissat Icefjord, Canadian Arctic's Lancaster Sound, and Alaska's Nome. Includes 24 nights aboard MS Fridtjof Nansen and luxury hotel stays in Reykjavik and Seattle.
- Days 1-2
Iceland to Greenland
- Days 3-5
West Greenland Exploration
Take three days to discover West Greenland. Walk the UNESCO icefjord trails in Ilulissat during early morning for the best photos. Visit the historic district in Sisimiut and browse traditional crafts. The qiviut items made from muskox wool are incredibly warm. A scarf will cost about $200 but it's worth the investment.
- Days 6-7
Baffin Bay Crossing
- Days 8-11
Eastern Canadian Arctic
- Days 12-20
Western Northwest Passage
- Days 21-24
Beaufort Sea & Bering Strait
- Days 25-26
Nome to Seattle
- Days 1-2
Ottawa
Start in Canada's capital. Get to Parliament Hill and the Rideau Canal early in your visit. The Fairmont Château Laurier makes a perfect base - you can walk to see the Changing of the Guard ceremony in the morning. One visitor shared: "The progressive dining experience through Ottawa's restaurants gave us an amazing taste of Canadian cuisine - don't miss the beaver tails!"
- Days 3-4
Quebec City
Stop at Parc Oméga to see Canadian wildlife on your way to Quebec City. Walk the cobblestone streets of Old Quebec early before the cruise crowds show up. Stay at the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. Take the Lower Town bike tour to see the area like a local - bikes work better than walking in Petit Champlain's narrow streets.
- Days 5-6
Montreal
- Days 7-9
Toronto & Niagara Falls
- Days 10-14
US East Coast Cities
- Days 15-27
Scenic Eclipse Cruise
