If you are interested in avoiding the touristy of …My wife an I had the good fortune to join four others for a tour of the Ascoli Piceno area of Italy in September 2018 led by Giovanni and Chantelle. If you are interested in avoiding the touristy of parts Italy, if your are interested in gaining a better insight into the culture and the cuisine of this part of Italy, if you want to visit one of the more picturesque parts of Italy and you want to experience the intimacy of a small group; this may be the tour for you. The accommodation was excellent as was the food experience. It was a well paced tour, a typical day would start shortly after nine, a drive through the rugged country side in the region, a visit a hill-top village, historical site, vineyard, etc. and then on to a wonderful lunch. This would be followed a visit to another site, returning to the hotel in late afternoon. One cannot enough good things about the tour leaders, they are very knowledgeable about the region and most accommodating to the needs of the tour participants. We would likely recommend this tour.

Giovanni and Chantelle have put together a package that is second to none. Their intimate local knowledge enables them to take you to amazing places that are not crowded and generally not on most tourists agendas. They have partnered with some exceptional people that own the restaurants and wineries that you visit enabling you to have personable experiences and hear their interesting stories first hand. The accommodation in Ascoli Piceno was superb. The hotel staff were lovely and happy to help with anything you might need. Its location was also exceptional, allowing you to easily stroll into the main city piazza and soak up the atmosphere of the locals living life the Italian way. The food we experienced with Giovanni and Chantelle was absolutely brilliant, in lovely small boutique wineries prepared and served by the owners to first class restaurants with magnificent views and ambiance. The small group enabled the flexibility to accommodate individual preferences. Giovanni and Chantelle have a genuinely warm and friendly style that ensures you feel very comfortable in their company. A perfect tour, well done Giovanni and Chantelle, couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Their intimate knowledge of Ascoli Piceno and the area enables them to take you to places that are yet to be discovered by the crowds, enabling you to have a very relaxed and privileged tour. The accommodation in Ascoli Piceno was amazing and its location enabled you to take a short stroll into town of an evening and soak up the atmosphere of the Piazza's, restaurants and locals living their lives. The staff at the hotel were extremely happy to help you with anything at all, we think a reflection of the relationship developed by Giovanni and Chantelle. The scenery experienced and the places Giovanni took us each day were truly fantastic. Giovanni and Chantelle have partnered with some very exceptional and interesting people who own the wineries and restaurants and have fascinating stories in their own right. The cooking class was a highlight, again provided by an exceptional lady. Giovanni and Chantelle have a very warm and relaxed style that coupled with their exceptional itinerary detail ensures your visit with them is unforgettable. We couldn't recommend their tour highly enough. Perfect, and well Done Giovanni and Chantelle.

We were in a group of 4 people, two of us were not needing gluten free meals and we had a chance to taste everything. Even the cooking classes were separate so we could try different dishes! I had given up on the idea of a culinary tour of Italy after being diagnosed as being a celiac over 10 years ago but I am glad I found this options possible with these guys.

During the tour we even had a chance to make gluten free Gnocchi and other traditional dishes that I would have never thought I could eat ( and let alone cook!).
A marvellous experience overall, especially the feeling of not having to worry for an entire week about gluten contamination.

The tour exceeded our expectations in every way! Our hotel was in a 18th century palace and steps away from the center of town. Certainly the highlight of the week was the wine taste done in the viney…The tour exceeded our expectations in every way! Our hotel was in a 18th century palace and steps away from the center of town. Certainly the highlight of the week was the wine taste done in the vineyard and our cooking class which was also in a historic building with 3 people helping us all the way, what fun.

,with only our group of 6 and our guide. We walked through the vineyards and learned how wine is produced. Being able to see the whole process and tasting the delicious final product at the end was something we will never forget and it gave us a whole new level of knowledge.
We are planning to return for a longer journey next year!

All our visits were to local wine makers and small producers, what at treat. On the…Decided to finally go to Italy after almost 20 years. Giovanni and Chantelle took great care of us the entire week.
All our visits were to local wine makers and small producers, what at treat. On the last day they even came with us shopping in town and dedicated a whole afternoon to us, helping us get small gifts for our friends and family.
We could have not asked for a better vacation, Marche was stunning in the fall and the great care that went into organizing each day for our small group, was what made this visit one of a kind!

Taste of Italy
We spent our honeymoon in Ascoli Piceno on one of the trips offered by The Italian on Tour. Words cannot express how surreal the whole experience was. Chantelle and Giovanni were the most amazing guid…We spent our honeymoon in Ascoli Piceno on one of the trips offered by The Italian on Tour. Words cannot express how surreal the whole experience was. Chantelle and Giovanni were the most amazing guides, and we can't wait to go back! The wine and olive oil tasting they took us to at a local winery was superb, and we ended up taking a few bottles of each back home to Canada. We got to visit quite a few historical sites, including a fortress, Roman aqueduct, and a beautiful theater from the 1800s. The city center of Ascoli Piceno where we stayed was like something out of a movie, with the way the Piazza lights up at night. We are so grateful for everything we experienced on our trip!

The hotel was perfect. Clean, friendly staff, great food and my room was very comfortable with lots of space for luggage. My ride leader, Giovanni was exceptional. He and Chantelle are a fantastic team, very knowledgeable about history, food and culture—spot on with service and value.
If you want to see beautiful scenery, mingle with locals in a quaint Italian city, have an amazing culinary experience and tour through the Italian countryside on your bike, the Italian on Tour is for you! I was blown away by the whole experience and was in awe the entire time! I will definitely go back in the future!
As a side note: I highly recommend setting up a rental bike for your tour. To share my experience, I decided to bring my own bike with me from Canada, which in the end I regret as Air Canada lost it and we had to scramble to try and find a rental bike. I was so thankful that Giovanni took some of his personal time to help me sort out a rental, it really showed how much they care about their clients as they really went above and beyond the scope of the tour.

Italy Undiscovered
We found wonderful weather in September and had a chance to observe the pressing of the grapes first hand. Our room was very large and the breakfast to die for! Thank you!
