Although when I started I thought that us and the people we were helping would get more for the amount I payed. In some projects we would have extra costs such as airconditioning and the food we received was provided by the people we were helping such as the locals and the schools which made me wonder how much these people were getting from this. Overall I had an amazing time but I thought that for 500USD a week I may have been able to either travel for longer or make a bigger difference elsewhere.

The accommodation at the elephant village was far better than expected, the food was superb, each day held something new to experience, Pahn and Ae kept us fully informed of what was needed and joined in with everything we did. The hotel accommodation was good at all of the trip's locations, especially Karma Hotel in Siem Reap, where nothing was to much trouble. If ever I decide to repeat this type of trip I would want Pahn to be our trip leader, her drive, passion and enthusiasm for the project were second to non, totally recommend both the tour and Pahn to anyone.

Both were excellent. They were professional, efficient but also warm, sociable and filled with personality and humour. Pahns leadership and the border crossing and careful review and advice of procedures and passport stamping also demonstrated her attention to detail. Every transfer by tuk tuk or bus or other transport was efficient and on time. Well organised tour.

We started off in Bangkok which was a fun way to get to know the people and guides of my group. Surin was a whole different story though, I fell in love with the city big time. After a couple of days in Bangkok, we made our way to Surin which was about 7-8 hours away on a train/bus. The work we did in the village was strenuous on some considering the fact that we worked in humidity as well, but it wasn't impossible to get through. Plus, it was definitely worth our time we got with the elephants. It was unreal being so up-close and personal with them. The happiness and joy you see in them as soon as they get in the water is amazing and something I will never forget. We had a lot of free time which was cool too. We had meals prepared for us everyday (which was delicious by the way). The homestay was great and the family we stayed with was so kind and welcoming - everyone in Surin was actually!! The language barrier sucked because as much as I wanted to communicate with all the locals, all we could really say is hi, goodbye, and thank you. I guess study up on your thai before you go, that's something I wish I did! The memories will last forever. I cannot wait to go back. Thank you Heidi, Ae, Doo, TT, Gun, and Noom for an unforgettable experience!!!

From the elephants in Surin to the children in Siem Reap, there was never a dull moment. I love the guides Ae, Navorn and Doo, they helped us to make our time in other countries comfortable and fun. I couldn't of asked for a better group and I had the best time for my first trip out of the country. It was a definite cultural shock leaving California. Although I could go without seeing an a whole in the ground it's nice to know I can tough it out. Thanks for a great trip Bamboo!

I missed her when we went to Cambodia. I think the trip would of been more complete had she made the journey with us to Siem Reap. Ae spoke impeccable English and learned more while we were there. She was easy to understand for us who only know the one language and was a lot of fun to hang out with. I am so happy to have had this experience shared with her. I loved the accomodations, though the beds in the elephant village could of been more comfortable. The accomodations in Siem Reap made it all worthwhile. THANK YOU AE #ohhmybudha I love you

I also really enjoyed a lot of the activities. The Bangkok tour was also cool because I found that city overwhelming and being shown around was awesome, especially with someone who was so informed. At the actual village, I found the work difficult but still enjoyed myself. One complaint I do have is maybe making the activities of the day longer, I felt like I sat around a bit to much to truly be helping the community. Also, on your website it said during the elephant village program you would also be helping with other projects that don't have to do with elephants and I was looking forward to that but unfortunately didn't get to do any of that. My last complaint is minor and an easy fix, I often felt like I didn't know what was going on and the guides seemed a little unorganized. But other than that it was the experience of a lifetime and I'm so glad I did it!!

Ae especially was such a joy to work with and made every day in the village special. She's an amazing person and now friend who inspired me to help others. The program was such an incredible experience and I would definitely recommend to others !

Yes, I knew that I was going to have the trip of a lifetime, but I did not know that I would meet the most genuine and wonderful people that I have met in my lifetime. The friends that I made while residing in the elephant village in Surin, left an imprint on my heart that will impact the rest of my life, never have I known such love from people outside of my family. I think of Ae, Pahn, Heidi, May, Gun, Cha Cha, and everyone else I met every day, which keeps them close to my heart. I hope that everyone gets a chance to have an experience on par with the stupendous time that I had in Thailand. I plan on living there part time, if that gives you a clue to how much my boyfriend and I adored it. I am currently going to university for nursing, and hope to apply to bamboo in the future.

From the moment we met she made me feel at ease, welcome and excited about being in thailand. She is funny, cheeky and extremely kind and I could not recommend her enough as a tour guide. With her personality she is bound to become your friend! Her english, while not perfect, is improving everyday and she really makes an effort to have a conversation with you regardless of the language barrier. I not only had a great tour guide, but I made a friend for life, and I hope that many more people in the future get to meet Ae when they volunteer!

They are wonderful people that work so hard at making every experience perfect!

Even though she's still improving her English, she completely makes up for that with her ability to connect with the volunteers. She is friendly and funny in a way that really makes the volunteers feel as though they are at home when they are there. Most of the people who are volunteering with her are coming from around world so having someone on the team who can make everyone comfortable with being in a place that's completely foreign to them is important.

And all of that is shown in her work. She takes the time to explain not only how to do things, but also the importance and value of the work in general. She takes the time to get to truly know each volunteer and makes the space feel welcoming and accepting. Her work as a guide is incredible. I can't stop bragging about her.

Ae took me to teach english at the local school. this is where i saw her truley flourish and thrive. she had a way with the kids that i have never seen before in a person. it was as if they felt so comfortable around her yet they had a level of respect that most teachers would strive hard to achieve. her natural ability showed great feats of talent and potential. seeing her on the stage was extremely impressive and it was that point where my respect grew even further for this amazing person. Ae is a great asset to the bamboo project. if there is anyone who i see who would be in bamboo for the long haul, it i would definetly pick Ae to be the one. i trust that bamboo keep her by their side, as this girl can easily get snatched up quick.
