Koh Samui Volunteer Projects
I had the best time with these guys doing projects in Thailand and Cambodia. I made some really good friends and had an awesome time with the staff and volunteers on these projects.
Although when I s…I had the best time with these guys doing projects in Thailand and Cambodia. I made some really good friends and had an awesome time with the staff and volunteers on these projects.
Although when I started I thought that us and the people we were helping would get more for the amount I payed. In some projects we would have extra costs such as airconditioning and the food we received was provided by the people we were helping such as the locals and the schools which made me wonder how much these people were getting from this.
Overall I had an amazing time but I thought that for 500USD a week I may have been able to either travel for longer or make a bigger difference elsewhere.

We just returned from an incredible experience! We were on the 2 Country tour with Bamboo. There is not one thing I would change from this tour. Doo was or guide from Bankgok to Surin to the elepha…We just returned from an incredible experience! We were on the 2 Country tour with Bamboo. There is not one thing I would change from this tour. Doo was or guide from Bankgok to Surin to the elephant village Ba Ta Clang (?) to Siem Reap and Alma school. Our experience of being immersed with the people of the area was so gratifying. Everyone was so welcoming and are just incredible people in general! Our accommodations were top notch both in hotels and in the village! The accommodations in the village exceeded my expectations by far. Athough everything was very simple the house was so well kept and comfortable and our host so welcoming. In Siem Reap we stayed at Karma Hotel which was beautiful, staff were very friendly the pool was amazing and the whole environment was peaceful and serene. Our tour guide Doo was knowledgeable and helpful throughout our time with Bamboo. He went above and beyond to help us find a plug for out phone (which was almost impossible to find). helped us to find an extension, took me to a pharmacy just as prevention after getting a bug bite I was a little worried about and on and on. Doo's love and commitment to the elephants and the people in the village was evident and contagious! He worked hard along side us through paving a road at the school, cutting cane, planting cane etc. At Alma school he was there for us if needed, took pictures of all of us which he shared with the group. We all fell in love with Doo and feel like he is family! The only down part of the trip was having to come home to reality and leave all the beautiful people we met behind. A future trip with Bamboo will definitely be in our plans for the future!

We felt …Just back from an amazing experience with Bamboo. Doo was with us as our guide from Bangkok to Surin to the Elephant village, Ba Ta Clang (I think the name is) to Siem Reap and Alma School. We felt totally in good hands with Doo. He was helpful at answering any questions we had and went out of his way to help us out when we lost our phone plug, needed an extension, got bit by a bug etc. Doo's commitment and love of the elephants and the people in the village was evident and contagious! We all fell in love with him and our whole experience!

What can I say, such an amazing experience from first arriving in Bangkok, spending a few fun filled days there, meeting our guide Doo aka Scooby do and getting to meet my fellow volunteers, headed to…What can I say, such an amazing experience from first arriving in Bangkok, spending a few fun filled days there, meeting our guide Doo aka Scooby do and getting to meet my fellow volunteers, headed to Surin in a nice air conditioned bus, a nice hotel, Doo took us to the markets, next morning we left in little trucks, because we had so many people our group was broken into 2 groups, all our bags and 14 of us on this little truck, I loved it, about 2 hrs later met our host family, it was the first time they had hosted anyone, accomodation was good, food delicious, we cut cane, we planted cane, twice walked to the river with our 14 elephants and swam with them, what can I say, we helped build part of a road at a school, that was hard work, we went kakaking, the elephant village was truely a wonderful experience, after 4 nights headed back to Surin, stayed the night and next morning headed to Cambodia, part in a truck again, then a bus to Sien Reap, then another amazing experience, my group and I helped build a house for a poor family, just a small basic house, but a palace for them, we spent time at the school also, the staff at our hotel were wonderful, could not help us enough, our guide Doo was always there for us, helping organise dinners out, a few of us had birthdays and Doo organised our cakes, Doo also was great at the school, I cannot recommend this tour group enough, wish I could go back tomorrow, well done Doo, Van, and Bamboo, I truly could just go on and on

This was my first trip to Asia and also my first experience of being a volunteer! I thoroughly enjoyed my adventure and it was my privilege to give a little help and support to the people & Elephant…This was my first trip to Asia and also my first experience of being a volunteer! I thoroughly enjoyed my adventure and it was my privilege to give a little help and support to the people & Elephants of Surin in Thailand and the people & Children of 'Elma School' of Cambodia. I was at first a little apprehensive about going on this trip especially as it was so far away from my home in 'Ruthin, North Wales' I had never before travelled so far away alone!! But when I arrived and met our tour guide Doo Aka Chira! All my concerns were put at rest! Speaking to Doo on the group bonding night made me feel at ease and he took great care of us all during our time in Thailand & Cambodia! Thank you so much Doo, you are a Star

My time with Bamboo was everything I expected AND more!! We started off in Bangkok which was a fun way to get to know the people and guides of my group. Surin was a whole different story though, I fel…My time with Bamboo was everything I expected AND more!! We started off in Bangkok which was a fun way to get to know the people and guides of my group. Surin was a whole different story though, I fell in love with the city big time. After a couple of days in Bangkok, we made our way to Surin which was about 7-8 hours away on a train/bus. The work we did in the village was strenuous on some considering the fact that we worked in humidity as well, but it wasn't impossible to get through. Plus, it was definitely worth our time we got with the elephants. It was unreal being so up-close and personal with them. The happiness and joy you see in them as soon as they get in the water is amazing and something I will never forget. We had a lot of free time which was cool too. We had meals prepared for us everyday (which was delicious by the way). The homestay was great and the family we stayed with was so kind and welcoming - everyone in Surin was actually!! The language barrier sucked because as much as I wanted to communicate with all the locals, all we could really say is hi, goodbye, and thank you. I guess study up on your thai before you go, that's something I wish I did! The memories will last forever. I cannot wait to go back. Thank you Heidi, Ae, Doo, TT, Gun, and Noom for an unforgettable experience!!!

I had the most amazing time on my 2countries trip. From the elephants in Surin to the children in Siem Reap, there was never a dull moment. I love the guides Ae, Navorn and Doo, they helped us to make…I had the most amazing time on my 2countries trip. From the elephants in Surin to the children in Siem Reap, there was never a dull moment. I love the guides Ae, Navorn and Doo, they helped us to make our time in other countries comfortable and fun.
I couldn't of asked for a better group and I had the best time for my first trip out of the country. It was a definite cultural shock leaving California. Although I could go without seeing an a whole in the ground it's nice to know I can tough it out. Thanks for a great trip Bamboo!

He was extremely friendly, made everything feel really comfortable and I knew this was gonna be a great trip from then on. He made the time in Bangkok and Surin a lot of fun and definitely unforgettable! Thanks for being an awesome tour guide Doo!!

An extra big thank you to Kayla for organizing the tour to tonle sap. It was a little glimpse of the rest of Cambodia.

He was great wealth of knowledge, making sure we were all well taken care of. He was able to organize an number of extra curricular activities that we all enjoyed. The massages in Surin were fabulous. Over the 2 weeks he became not a guide but a friend to the point that we made him on honorary Canadian.

I had such an amazing time working for Bamboo! The highlight of my time spent in Surin was not only interacting with the elephants, but the staff and people I met! Ae especially was such a joy to work…I had such an amazing time working for Bamboo! The highlight of my time spent in Surin was not only interacting with the elephants, but the staff and people I met! Ae especially was such a joy to work with and made every day in the village special. She's an amazing person and now friend who inspired me to help others. The program was such an incredible experience and I would definitely recommend to others !

AE was the best possible guide I could have had! She was so nice, funny, down to earth and knowledgable. Right off the bat I felt as though she was a great friend of mine and I honestly cannot wait to…AE was the best possible guide I could have had!
