Tainan to Kaohsiung
- Day 7
Kaohsiung to Taipei via Lukang
6 Days in Taiwan, incl. Taipei and Sun Moon Lake
A grand tour through 9 Taiwanese cities from Taipei to Kaohsiung unfolds over 5 days. Visitors can admire Sun Moon Lake's temples, Tainan's Fort Zeelandia, and Kenting's Maopitou formations. Package includes 4 nights' accommodation, daily breakfast, and English-speaking guides for approx. $190 per day.

- Day 1
Taipei to Sun Moon Lake
Leave Taipei in the morning for a 3-hour drive to Sun Moon Lake. Pack some entertainment for the bus ride. You'll reach Ita Thao Village around lunchtime where you can learn about Taiwan's indigenous Thao people. Visit Ci'en Pagoda in late afternoon when it's cooler. The climb includes 700 steps but rewards you with great views. Stop at Wenwu Temple before sunset for the best lake photos.

- Day 2
Taichung to Kaohsiung
Travel south to historic Tainan (2 hours). Visit Fort Zeelandia early before the crowds arrive around 10 AM. While exploring Anping Old Street take breaks in air-conditioned shops during hot afternoons. Drive one hour to Fo Guang Shan Monastery. Remember to bring socks since you'll remove shoes inside temple halls. Plan to arrive by 4 PM to see the illuminated Buddha before closing.

- Day 3
Kaohsiung to Taitung
Drive to Kenting National Park (2.5 hours). Start at Maopitou where morning light makes the rock formations look their best. Pack good walking shoes for the rocky trails at Eluanbi Lighthouse. The winding South Link Highway to Taitung might affect sensitive travelers. Consider motion sickness pills. End your day in Zhiben's hot springs after 8 PM when crowds thin out.

- Day 4
East Coast Exploration
The coastal route from Taitung to Hualien shows off Taiwan's most impressive scenery. Visit Xiaoyeliu during low tide to see more rock formations. Wear shoes with good grip at Sanxiantai bridge since sea spray makes steps slippery. Take the 2-hour train from Hualien to Yilan through mountain tunnels. Choose a right-side window seat for the best ocean views.

- Day 5
Yilan to Taipei
- Day 6
Departure
Plan for 1.5 hours to reach Taoyuan Airport from central Taipei. Account for morning traffic on airport routes.
4 Days in Taipei, incl. City Center and Yehliu Coast
This 4-day private tour covers Taipei city and coastal areas, including Yehliu Geological Park's wave-eroded rocks and historic Jiufen Old Street that inspired Spirited Away. Ride up to Taipei 101's 89th-floor observatory in just 37 seconds for city views, then check out ancient treasures at the National Palace Museum before airport drop-off on day 4.

- Day 1
Arrival in Taipei
Arrive at Taoyuan International Airport and take a private transfer to central Taipei. The trip takes 45-60 minutes in normal traffic. Try to book a morning arrival to avoid afternoon rush hour which can stretch the journey to 90 minutes. Stay in the Ximending area which gives you great MTR access and easy walks to night markets.

- Day 2
Classic Taipei Landmarks
Get to Longshan Temple early before tour groups show up. Local worshippers start their prayers around 6:30 AM giving you a quiet look at daily life. Visit Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall next for the guard change ceremony. Arrive 10 minutes early to get a good spot by the main steps. Spend your afternoon at Taipei 101. Book observatory tickets online to skip the long lines which often take an hour. The elevator ride takes just 37 seconds to reach the 89th floor and your ears might pop on the way up. Visit the National Palace Museum after 3 PM when the crowds thin out. End your day with a food tour through Shilin Night Market. The market covers several blocks and the best food stands are often hidden in side streets. Make sure to try the xiaolongbao and oyster omelets.

- Day 3
Northern Coast Exploration
Take a light bag for your coastal day trip. Get to Yehliu Geological Park before 10 AM to beat both tour buses and strong midday sun. Bring shoes with good grip since the coastal rocks can be slippery. Visit Jiufen Old Street after lunch. The alleys get packed by mid-afternoon so head straight to A-Mei Teahouse for great harbor views. Photos of Jiufen's lantern-lit streets look best around 4:30 PM when crowds thin but before dark. Finish your day in Shifen releasing sky lanterns by the railway. As one traveler said: "The best experience was writing wishes on our lantern at sunset. The staff helped us write Chinese characters and timed the release perfectly for photos."

What people love about 7-day Taiwan tours
- Taiwan Treasures: A 5-Day journey across the island
This was a compact tour, 5 full days with 4 nights in luxurious 5-star hotels. We visited an interesting mix of cultural and religious sites as well as scenic locations. Our guide, Alan Chou, was excellent, very knowledgeable, well organised and most informative. Our group (and bus) were larger than we would have preferred (34) but Alan handled this well. The train ride from Hualien to Yilan was an added bonus.
