Coastal Walks in England

Starting at the cliffs of St Bees Head on the Irish Sea, this 190-mile walk finishes at Robin Hood's Bay on the North Sea. Cross Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, and North York Moors national parks over 14 walking days, passing through Borrowdale, Patterdale, and along the Eden Valley near Kirkby Stephen with luggage transfers between stops (ages 16+, moderate fitness).

Trek 27km along Jurassic cliffs from High Hawsker watching for dolphins as you head down into Robin Hood's Bay with great coastal views. The Nine Standards on the Fell mark where Cumbria meets Yorkshire at the watershed between the Irish and North seas, and after walking through Falling Foss forest you'll complete your 190-mile journey from St. Bees Head.

Starting at St. Bees Head on the Irish Sea, you'll pick up a stone from the beach to carry across northern England. Follow the clifftop path to Sandwith, then climb Dent Fell for views over the Cumbrian coast before heading down through Cleator to Ennerdale Bridge and into the Lake District towards Borrowdale Valley.

This 9-day self-guided walk covers 190 miles on Wainwright's Coast to Coast route from Kirkby Stephen to Robin Hood's Bay, crossing Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors national parks. You'll see limestone landscapes around Swaledale, drop into Reeth's market town, and check out Richmond's medieval castle before finishing at the coastal village of Robin Hood's Bay.

Walk the St Bees Head cliffs along the Irish Sea before climbing over Dent Fell to reach the 780m Kidsty Pike summit above Haweswater reservoir. You'll cross Honister Slate Mine, England's last working slate quarry, then tackle the steep ascent to Greenup Edge with great views across the Lake District's fells.
