What people love about Sahara Desert Tours
- Imperial Cities & Sahara Discovery Tour from Marrakech
Overall the trip and the organization were very good. The hotels were good except for the one in Fez (Ramada by Wyndham) which was old, outdated and the breakfast was very bad. Adnam our driver was unbeatable: attentive, helpful and willing to make things easy for us. The guides were good, highlighting those we had in Casablanca (Azdine) and in Fez (Khalid) who were outstanding (5 stars). The opposite with the guide in Marrakech (Abdul) who was terrible: he didn't give any explanations, the visits were quick and he was in a hurry, and in the Medina the opposite, entering several stores chosen by him to buy from us but here he was not in a hurry. The tour that was supposed to be all day was only 3 hours and left us without visiting several places specified in the itinerary. The agency in this sense did not respond to our request, the only but I can put to them.
- Highlights of Morocco Tour from Marrakech
As mentioned in previous reviews this is not a tour with one group, driver and a tour guide. You get different drivers and tour guides in every city you go. Even though, it is well organised as they tell you every time what time you’ll be picked up. The only time you have one driver is from Rabat all around to Marrakech which is about a week. Big shout here to Adnan who was my driver for the week. He was an excellent driver even a tour guide from time to time. He was also a great company and took good care of me as I was the only one on the tour. He is a real gem to your company. Big mention to my tour guide Said in Fes, my driver Mohamed(I think) in Tangier and the rest of the drivers and guides. The desert was a highlight the only thing that could be improved is if there’s an a/c or even a fan in the tents as it was too hot and impossible to sleep. As for the things that didn’t go so well there were few and I’m sure it can be improved. First, all the places that are mentioned in the itinerary should be covered by the tour guides instead of them discouraging the visitors to go there. I mentioned few times that I wanted to go to the Saadian Tombs as per the itinerary and the tour guide discouraged me. We also didn’t covered the Menara gardens on the day. Regarding the gardens I was taken there the next morning for 15 minutes but nothing was done about the Tombs although I was promised that on my return to Marrakech I will have an opportunity to go. Second, the tour in Tangier was poorly organised and we were shoved in a restaurant for a lunch. The lunch was substandard for 200 dirhams per person. It would be better if the tour guide gives options rather then shoving the visitors in an overpriced restaurant. Third, the hotel in Fes is hardly a 4 star hotel as it’s old and dilapidated. My room wasn’t very clean as well. Forth, it should be mentioned in the itinerary that when crossing the Atlas mountings the roads are very winding so people who suffer from car sickness should be prepared. All in all it is good tour that covers a lot of places and you get to learn a lot about the history. The people are very welcoming and friendly and always ready to help you. If you thinking of visiting Morocco and seeing a lot of places that this is the tour to go.
- 5 day trip: Sahara Fun Outdoor Experience
Just returned from a 5 day Sahara adventure tour with my kids (13 and 16) and it was an unbelievable experience!!! I can't recommend Toureg Trails enough! My guide Mohamed was extremely knowledgeable of the culture, history and geography of the region and made the whole experience feel 100% authentic. The hot air balloon, canyon trail, rock climbing, camel ride , quad ride and sand boarding activities were all awesome! Not a single tourist trap experience. All of the hotels were very nice (4 star) with good restaurants and attentive service. The whole tour was organized to the last detail and was flawless. Youssef and Mohamed were extremely accommodating and attentive (details such as-I needed to keep my daughter's medication cool during the trip so they brought a cooler in the van and made sure it had ice or frozen bottles of water daily). Cant say enough about their professionalism and how great of an experience this private tour was!!!!

"Our tour guide Hamza was very attentive to each person's needs and really helped make things easy for our group. Weather in November was great most of the time and we avoided most of the dreaded heat in Morocco, although we had some chilly days in the mountains as rain moved in. Hotels were hit or miss sometimes. Take some Imodium and Pepto bismol with you as traveller's diarrhea is common in the area but pharmacies have most medications you would need available otherwise. Alcohol was surprisingly available, even in mostly rural areas but if that matters to you ask your tour guide as often alcohol is hidden away and there is not a strong drinking culture in Morocco. You will get tired of couscous and tagine eventually so keep that in mind when you have good alternative options (sometimes the alternatives are not good). With that said, it's an amazing cultural experience and I learned so much about the national history as well as meeting some great people and having a blast. I would wholeheartedly recommend it as long as you're open to adventure.
