The trip I booked on line was not the trip I was on. I would not have booked had I known a few things: It’s calving season so the main park I was looking forward to was closed. The itinerary was not followed, as such we were either rushed and missed lunch or dinner. In addition the start of the day got later and later. I blame this on the representative sent by solo who was inexperienced as a guide, a young man who only wanted to drink, watch movies and sports. He and I got into a heated argument because he lied about the start time the day of the houseboat. He wanted to leave by 10a, said drive was only 3 hours, when in fact the drive was more like 4.5-5 hours. He had encouraged me to book a spa at 9am, then when I said I would not book if it meant we left early tried to blame me for the 10am start, and he was accommodating my request. We had a big issue at one of the hotels that said we had to switch rooms the following night. We got to hotel late and apparently gave away our initial room. Why was the hotel not notified we would be late? Unfortunately there was only one other girl on the trip. But thankfully we got along well. The rep from solo then completely removed himself and spent no time outside of the car with us. In fact he never even said goodbye. Turns out he’s the owners son. Happy to report the agency solo used in India spiceland was excellent. Our driver was awesome, and in fact the days that were spent without the solo rep were the best. If I hadn’t been proactive to make this trip what I had anticipated, I would have given the tour an even lower rating.

Hi Carolyn, Thank you for your taking the time to feedback- we really appreciate it! We have reviewed the points raised with both our tour partners and our host. Sometimes small changes are made to itineraries that are out of our control and we always try and keep these to a minimum. I know on this occasion we were advised last minute that the park was closed due to calving and we in turn advised this on the final itinerary sent out by us. The point you mentioned re the hotel rooms – I have checked with the hotel and they apologise as they had overbooked – the standard rooms were not available and they did all possible to resolve the situation and offered suites for one of the nights as a gesture of goodwill- Daily departure times on trips are generally set in accordance with the daily activities but we try to be as flexible as possible. Sorry to hear that you were not happy with host that accompanied the trip. Perhaps there was some confusion with his role as he was not the designated guide. We always use our local guides and driver/guides as they have the local knowledge and offer the best possible local experience.

This trip with Solo Travellers to Kerala was an extraordinary experience. A once in a lifetime chance to witness a place blessed with vegetation as green and luscious as glimmering emeralds, undulating mountain terrain, enchanting waterfalls and lagoons, deep rooted culture and tradition and most importantly the beauty and pride of its wonderful people. The accommodation, hospitality and arrangements from the first to the last was just excellent. The in-country hosts and guides were so hospitable and knowledgeable and they did their utmost to make our stay and experience as comfortable and rewarding as possible. The food and delicacies did not disappoint and each day brought new tastes and smells. The group blended very well and we were able to enjoy many shared experiences and laughs. Nena, additionally, joined us on the trip and what a delightful, kind and generous person/host she is. She did everything possible to make sure that we were taken care of and our needs were met, including providing all the necessary information before the trip and responding to queries in a speedy and professional manner. Any issues and concerns from members of the group , for example if and when feeling a little unwell during the trip, were immediately dealt with and Nena went above and beyond to make sure they were attended to. A fantastic trip, highly recommend this and I absolutely cannot wait to go on my next trip with Solo Travellers.

An amazing holiday in Kerala, Southern India which I can highly recommend. It was full on from the time we touched down which meant we were able to see so much. The intinerary was well thought out and comprehensive. Local guides were very friendly and approachable and of course very knowledgeable. From the tea plantations to the backwaters to the spice market so much to see. The quality of the hotels I can only describe as fantastic checkout The Leaf with its location and infinity pool. Yoga in the open air and an Ayurveda massage finished off the holiday nicely!

The guides were all wonderful and very interesting. The stay on the houseboat in the backwaters was a particular highlight. The shopping was an adventure in itself! The absolutely incredible jewel colours of the clothes made me buy more than a few tops and outfits! For me, the best thing about these tours, apart from the obvious which is being able to visit these wonderful destinations, is getting to know the other people on the tour. Such a great mix of people every time. Every trip I go on with Solo (4 so far) I come away with new friendships.

Was very pleased with the ease that I was able to understand, and navigate your website. Have actually been looking at several other tour companies, some have played phone tag with me. Others have not bothered to return calls. Their websites have been difficult, to work and understand. Am super excited to be working with you. Am now working on finding affordable airfare. Thanks again. Looking forward to a wonderful adventure. Have already been giving several friends your info.
