Large Minority (http://www.largeminority.travel) is an idea, and (in my opinion) the people behind that idea are inspiring, the company is inspiring, and the trips will give you memories that will last forever. My experience. I went to Sri Lanka, on the 'Lanka Challenge' in 2016. We were part of a group of approximately 40 people, from all walks of life. We spent about a week driving tuk-tuks in a large loop from the east top west coasts, and along the way made some great friends and passed some genuinely unique experiences. For example, how many times does anyone beg a family to let them into their home in order to share the experience of cooking traditional curry, challenge a serving soldier in a still heightended state of alert...to a press-up competition, or just try and convince more than 20 people that, yes, we should stop everything and have a sing-song! Amazing. I cannot recommend the company or the experiences they offer highly enough.

    5.0 - Excellent

The Lanka Challenge is the best way to test your fortitude, see a country ‘off the beaten track’ and interact with locals, which results in an unforgettable experience. It was great fun, and such a unique way to see the country. Wonderful friendships were forged, an insight into Sri Lanka and Cambodia was achieved, and memories made for a lifetime.

If driving rickshaws around Sri Lanka with 12-15 other teams, meeting the locals, camping under the stars, relaxing on beautiful beaches, eating amazing food and generally having the most amazing trip isn't for you then definitely don't go! We had an awesome experience and would highly recommend to anyone.

Questions & Answers

Here we have collected and answered the most frequently asked questions about this tour.

    • So, why is Sri Lanka so amazing?

Short answer: come and find out for yourself. Long answer: it’s sort of like India, without the madness and crowds. It’s still mad, and there are still crowds, but not quite on the same scale. It’s also got a great cultural legacy from trade and immigration: Indian, Tamil, English, Portuguese, Dutch. Pretty much every seafaring culture has touched the island at some point, which means the food is seriously good.

    • What are the roads like in Sri Lanka?

Sri Lanka has a good road network linking all the major cities, towns and interesting places. But don’t go expecting pristine tarmac everywhere you ride. Some of the rural roads in particular can get pretty wild and bumpy.

    • Do I need to get vaccinated?

This is completely up to you, but generally it’s a good idea to be up-to-date with standard vaccinations like Tetanus, Hap A and Polio. Other jabs to consider are Tuberculosis, Meningitis and Typhoid. Anti-malaria meds might also be a good idea. If in doubt, check with your GP.
