  The Danube cycling tour was wonderful. We had a small group of participants which allowed us to get to know each other better. It was a great way to experience parts of Europe that we wouldn’t typically see if taking tour buses etc. Our group leader team, Igor and Andro (from Intrepid) were awesome. They were organized, knowledgeable, patient and helpful in our many requests and needs, going above and beyond. The accommodations, food, and experience exceeded our expectations. The scenery was varied from fields of sunflowers and quaint villages in the more rural parts of the ride to more stately architectural buildings like castles, parliaments, churches, etc. It was very hot during the trip (34C) and was managed well with lots of breaks to hydrate and rest/stretch. Most days were long rides averaging 80 km arriving in the destination late afternoon. The advantage was that the paths/terrain was fairly flat so peddling was easier but needed some stamina to manage the distance. Our favourite days were ones with shorter distances so we could have time in the afternoon and evening to explore the area before preparing for the next day. Overall, it was a very satisfying journey.Show more

  We had an amazing journey on our bike trip. Despite the heat (34C) each day, we managed well, stopping for breaks. Our tour leaders with Intrepid, Igor and Andro, were knowledgeable, organized and tended to our many needs. We were a small group of 4 participants which provided us with a small family atmosphere allowing us to get to know each other more. Our favourite days were the ones where we rode fewer kms so we had more time to explore in our destinations. Really enjoyed riding through the countryside - beautiful fields of sunflowers, views of the Danube and amazing meals at recommended restaurants. The leaders, accommodations, and experience far exceeded our expectations.Show more

  Sasa Tour Guide and Andro the driver were great. They took care of the group with their jovial attitude and ensured that individual's needs were met. They provided easy to follow directions and kept the group together. There were occasions when things would have gone wrong but Sasa and Andro ensured that they are there on every step along the way to make it trouble-free and enjoyable experience. I highly recommend intrepid tours and would consider future tours through Intrepid.Show more

The final stay in Budapest at the Star City Hotel was disappointing...staff were stressed, aloof, and not customer service oriented ( in a positive way) Be nice to choose a true 4 star hotel for the last night of the tripShow more

  Well it definitely wasn'tbecause of the weather as it rained every day we were on the road; however our guides, Jerneja and Duje, and the group dynamics made the trip unforgettable. Jerry's and Duje's leadership was spot on. I have never been on an intrepid trip, where our guides ate all their meals with usto create a true bond with the travelers.Show more

I would caution others not to expect too much regarding accommodation which was occasionally a bit squashed. Also expect to share a room as my single supplement was cancelled quite last minute and on the tour I was told by co-travellers that intrepid has a reputation for this.Show more

  Great people and an enjoyable trip - apart from bike mixup. I asked for a small step thru bike and got one that was totally unrideable. After discussion with leaders they did a great job in finding me a Bike that I COULDride - but I had to pay for its hire. Costly. But it was that, or give up before I started. Guides were enthusiastic and knowledgeable: accommodation patchy... I was disappointed that we had to go so fast through many interesting places- a longer trip at a slower pace would have been culturally more rewarding Your pre trip notes need to be refined and expanded especially re the history and highlights. Also recommend a MINIMUN of 3 x. 3 km rides in preparation for trip and one 5 km ride. It is NOT for the mildly fit!Show more
