    4.0 - Good

I had an AMAZING time on this trip! Going off what Kelly said, Asian Fusion is Road to Phnom Phen and Vietnam Uncovered combined so you’ll have the same tour guide however you’ll have travelers coming/going (my original group had around 20 people, and 7 of them did the entire trip; average age was I’d say 24-26). My tour guide was Nicky R. and she was AMAZING — the small group feeling also made it so most of us will become friends for life. Most of the hotels are comfortable however it is SE Asia so don’t go expecting 4-5 star hotels (had one or two bad night). Some of the meals are included, usually a full breakfast buffet and regional set menus for lunch/dinner, otherwise food is ridiculously cheap (around $5 USD or less), aka foodie heaven. Optionals were a bit expensive (personally, still did most of them), however the cost of the trip itself is super worth it considering the 6 internal flights, cruises, and all the planning you’d don’t have to worry about. The most expensive optional was the seaplane over Halong Bay ($80 USD), DO IT! If you want a once-in-a-lifetime adventure and a cultural shock (Europe is amazing and all, but it’s too similar to the rest of the developed world

    3.5 - Good

local guides and our tour guide were absolutely amazing. was strange- this tour is actually road to phnom phen and vietnam uncovered combined, so the group will likely change halfway through. i would say too many temples on road to phnom phen, and too much time in vietnam, for our taste. the rooms were just 'ok' most of the time. one or two nights they were awful, one or 2 nights they were really great. be sure to take a lonley planet book with you. . .maybe you will want to skip out on a scheduled activity because you found something better. . we did a couple of times. . . or maybe you find a better deal on the optional that is being offered. was a younger crowd, mostly under 25 or 26, my husband and i are both over 30, and there was only a few other people in our age group on the tour. the internal flights with this tour save tons of time driving. when driving location to location, we had a decent sized bus. . . usually pretty nice. sometimes to small (no leg room). . . overall the tour was a once in a lifetime experience. wouldnt take it back, would only change small things. . . if you are used to higher end accommodations and "nicer" things, look at other tours. this one is by no means 'roughing' it, but if its what youre used to. . .pick something else. i would say this is a good bang for your buck if you're too lazy to figure out what you want to do and where you want to go for a month straight. not enough time in thailand, so go early if thats one of your main countries to hit up.

Questions & Answers

Here we have collected and answered the most frequently asked questions about this tour.

  • Should I take a suitcase or a backpack on this tour?

Whether you take a suitcase or backpack is up to you. While taking a backpack is probably most convenient when carrying your luggage, a suitcase is more comfortable especially on a 27-day tour like this one.

In general, this is the information given by Topdeck on luggage for Asia tours:

'each person is allowed 1 item of standard size luggage plus a day pack. The maximum weight of your main bag must not exceed 44lbs/20kgs. Size for all bags must not exceed 70cm x 45cm x 25cm. Due to strict weight regulations, passengers whose luggage exceeds 44lbs/20kgs may be asked to offload the excess on the departure morning. In this scenario, Topdeck will not cover any storage costs which are incurred.'
