Grischa "Sailing the Mergui archipeligo is a travel back in time featuring completely deserted beaches and snorkelling spots, unspoiled mangrove forrest and the unforgetable experience to meet the indigenous Moken people. Best of all is the gorgeous sailing boat with its ever friendly and knowledgeable staff and first class food offerings. This is my second trip with Burma Boating in a little over 2 years ..."

The trip was exactly what I was hoping for and much more. All the travel arrangements worked like clockwork so no stress in getting to the Yacht. The yacht itself was perfect- comfortable and well equipped. The Mergui islands are spectacular and gloriously uninhabited - long may this last. It was a pleasure to cruise or six days and barely see another pleasure boat. But the real stars were the crew. Nolte is a great captain who runs a very efficient ship with great good humour who ensured that our trip was special. Kat Yin is a culinary treasure. My diet starts now! Zolay was a star, well informed, hard working and with a permanent smile on his face. Brilliant. Thank you

I've been living in Asia for many years, done the main tourist spots, and always wanted to travel Burma. I'm so glad I finally did it. Burma Boating was a great way of getting to know the country from it's most beautiful side - natural beaches and islands far away from major tourist hubs. We took a 5 day trip on Raja Laut, an impressive and surprisingly comfortable yacht. I've previously done yacht holidays in Europe, and a major drawback for me are the uncomfortable rooms and facilities on other yachts, but the amenities on Raja Laut are far more comfortable compared to what I've had before and allowed for a relaxed trip. Getting there is a bit of a hassle, but the pre-arrival information we've received from Burma Boating was helpful and their team provided good support with answering our questions. All in all a great experience, well worth the money, and I'm looking forward to more sundowners on one of their boats.

This is a really unique way to travel in Myanmar on a luxurious classic yacht. Our boat had gorgeous teak wood decking and was stunning in full sail. The region is one of the most untouched areas in Asia, with white sands, unexplored jungle and unique wildlife. Visiting the nomadic indigenous population, the Moken was definitely a highlight. When else can you wake up and dive straight into the warm ocean sea? Highly recommend the trip.

We had such a nice sailing over the ocean, past the beaches, down to the small beautiful villages, having a cool drink with excellent food. It was a great trip to experience with such a wonderful team!

This was my third visit to the Mergui Archipelago. I came back reassured in my feelings that this is one of my favorite areas in Myanmar and around the world. It’s beautiful, quiet, and unspoiled. During almost a week on the sea we haven’t seen a single other “tourist” boat, but I was told that a few of them originating from Thailand can be spotted mostly between November and February. Thankfully the area is big enough that there is no need to share an anchoring spot with anybody else. The whole team at Burma Boating did an excellent job and I can recommend the experience to everybody who would like to see something amazing and spectacular while understanding that sailing yachts do have their limitations. Due to a temporary closure of Myanmar Andaman Resort, Burma Boating remains the only way of seeing Mergui Archipelago, which I inspected and can recommend without hesitation. Book Burma Boating Now!

Sailing in Myanmar's Mergui Archipelago with Burma Boating

Questions & Answers

Here we have collected and answered the most frequently asked questions about this tour.

    • What are the inclusions of the tour price?

The price includes full crew, all on-board multi-course meals, non-alcoholic beverage, snorkelling equipment and fishing gear, kayaking and dinghy. It also includes airport transfers from/to Kawthaung or Ranong airport. The rate doesn't include government fees which are paid to the local authorities in Kawthaung. They should be prepaid.

    • I might be interested where do I fly to from Europe?

All our regular 6-day trips in the Mergui Archipelago depart in Kawthaung in Myanmar’s south, just across the border from Thailand. Getting there is easy and you have several travel options.

      Flying to Kawthaung:
If you are arriving from within Myanmar, you can fly directly to Kawthaung Airport, which is connected to various domestic airports and served by several local airlines. The most reliable and convenient one is Myanmar National Airlines. We’d be more than happy to help you organise transportation and meet you at the airport.

      Flying to Ranong:
Another option is to fly to Ranong Airport. There are daily flights from Bangkok's domestic airport by Nok Air. The airport is well served by local taxi drivers but we can also pick you up from Ranong Airport, of course.

Once you are in Ranong, we will take a longtail boat across the Pakchan River to Kawthaung on the Myanmar side, which takes only a few minutes. We will help you with the immigration procedures before boarding the yacht.

      Arriving via Phuket:
Phuket International Airport is a convenient and well-connected place to fly to. From there, it’s a scenic 4-hour car ride to Ranong, the Thai border town. Here, too, we are happy to assist you and help you get organised.
