This was such an amazing trip which takes you to some unique places to get a real feel for Cambodian life. Our tour guide, Tong, was fantastic; so friendly and helpful. One suggestion would be for a free day in Phnom Penh for people on the Khmer pass so that they can explore the city more.

I travelled with Stray on the Khmer pass in 2013. It was a very eye opening experience and the way that Coco (our local guide) showed us around was truly unique. He had a great sense of humour and showed us so much more than we could have found on our own. The bus was comfy and air conditioned, and we could do what we wanted when we arrived at our overnight stops.

The hop on- hop off tour was perfect for me as i had plenty of time to explore if i wanted but was so easy to hop on again if i wanted but also gave enough structure so i didn't waste any of my time in Asia. - Nick

work for STA Travel and sell Stray as a product to my customers. This was the first time I had personally used the service. I can honestly say that all the things I had been saying to customers (through receiving training) was very accurate. The service is fantastic and was really brought to life with the guide. I was short on time and although we fit a lot in, in a short time, it was perfectly laid out. This only gives me more confidence that the reps who train agents are also doing a stellar job. Will do Laos next :)

I travelled on the KHMER pass. After a long flight I arrived from New Zealand at the airport of Bangkok. I had the arrival package so it was smooth sailing after such a long flight if you know how chaotic Bangkok is. After a short stop at the hotel I went out to find some food in the busy streets of Khao San Road. View hours later, still chilling with my new friend I decided to try a fried scorpion and that was just the beginning of a great night. The coach that I took from Bangkok to Siem Reap the next morning was surprisingly comfortable and along the road there was a display of film worthy impressions. For instance a load of eggs that’s three times as large as the moped which it is driven around. The Local people are very friendly with good intentions to let you experience the most beautiful places like the beautiful temples or the local food in the villages. We ended up one night at a wedding where we were welcomed with open arms and learned some new Cambodian dance moves. At Kampot I had really cool cooking class where I made my own dish with a local chef, he taught me some new skills so I could impress my friends back home. Our guide Tong Tong with Stray travel was one of the reasons that this trip is unforgettable. He thought us strange eating habits; fried frogs and insects as a late night snack, but also basic words and habits to avoid confusion with the locals. Overall the best experience I ever had in South-East Asia, I would definitely recommend this trip to people that want to go off the beaten track and want to meet other backpackers from different backgrounds and cultures.

Questions & Answers

Here we have collected and answered the most frequently asked questions about this tour.

  • Does the tour include a guide all throughout?

The last day of the tour is 'unguided', the rest of your pass will be with a tour guide. If you were to do the pass on 'minimum time' without hopping off your Tour Leader would very likely remain the same.

  • Is this tour strictly for under 35s?

No, that is not the case. There have been customers travelling with us of all ages up to 90.

It is too bad there is no 6 or 8 star rating available. 5 isn't really good enough for TourRadar. This enterprise surpasses even the most stringent, high-bar criteria for excellence of customer service. These people are consistently, constantly, on top of your tour itinerary, where you are are in the process, your current status and your situation, they answer the phone on the 2nd or 3rd ring, I'M NOT KIDDING, nd when they pick up they already know who you are, what your tour and status is, and they instantly produce precise answers and solutions to your questions or problems in a matter of seconds. I don't know who the competition is for this outfit but my advice to them is, give up. Go find another line of business. You will never catch up with the platinum customer service these people provide.
