Really great fun! Both our guides were awesome and so helpful. The activities in Laos were beautiful (Luang Prabang waterfalls) and fun (tubing). But some days were a little boring in the middle of places with nothing to do. Cambodia was phenomenal and by far my favorite.

We loved the experience. Traveled with my girlfriend, and we hopped off twice, in Sihanoukville and Kampot. Kampot is our favourite, small, not so busy town, but enough to do for 4-5 days. We visited a lot of different places during our time on the Mekong pass, and we loved it! Only thing that is a tiny bit negative is that you have to stay for four days if you hop off one place (or you could take local transport to the next destination and split the hop off in two, but thats not included). You travel to many remote places, especially in Laos, and thats quite nice. To take full advantage of the Mekong pass i would recommend hopping off maybe three or four times, wich means you got to have around 35+ days to spend. Its worth it!

Thanks for your great review and advice to other travellers - you're right, hopping off is the best way to make sure you get to relax a bit more. We're hoping to get more buses on the circuit in the future so people can hop back on the bus sooner. Thanks for letting us show you around Asia! :)

I really enjoyed traveling with stray Asia a lot.i like the concept of having a group but also ur freedom to hopp off whenever u like.it combines most of my favorite aspects about traveling such as having the safety to get around, having a tourguide,u don't have to plan urself, having a group of people but u are not obliged to do everything together.especially when u travel alone it's really nice to have such a reliable option.you see all the beautiful spots and have a lot of stuff included like visiting temples, going by boats or bamboo trains and staying with locals at a homestay to just name a few. I would definetly travel like this again and would recommend it.just keep in mind to have a couple of extra days to be able to hopp off cause it might get exhausting after a while and you have to stay in a place for some days since the bus is just leaving twice a week.other then that it was the perfect way of traveling for me!!!

Thanks for your review. We're glad you enjoyed travelling with us. It's good advice to use the 'hop-off' function - travelling can get exhausting and that's why our passes are flexible. Thanks for saying you'd recommend us!

The balance between traveling and spare time was good. Tourleaders are enthousiastic and i didn't had to stress out about my next step on this trip. The only thing i missed was a half or full day tour in the south of Laos that for example included a tracking, motorbike or quad. Sometimes accomodation was not the cheapest but you can find something yourself if you want. It is very flexible!

This was my first trip with a guide on Stray Asia. It was amazing, I made some really good friends along our journey. This was all mad very easy by our local guides who showed us the most amazing hidden areas in Laos and Cambodia. We did all the normal stuff that every other tourist does, plus we did a tonne more which would have been pretty difficult to do with out a local guide and Stray.

All of our tour leaders were very enthusiastic and knowledgable. This trip is a really good idea if you are travelling solo as it is a great way to meet new people as you travel around together. Do make sure to book each bus as soon as possible so you don't miss out on a spot you really want to spend time at though! Annabelle

Stray Asia is a great way to see the different countries whilst meeting new people. It strikes a good balance between being an organised tour and giving you free reign to go off and do whatever you want to do. The leaders and guides are friendly and helpful. Having done the Mekong Pass without hopping off, I would highly recommend having time to do so, as it breaks up the travelling and gives you more flexibility. Thanks for a great trip Stray! -Joanna

I don't usually write reviews but after having an amazing time on my mekong tour I feel I should praise everyone involved. After travelling with Stray in New Zealand I understood the concept and had expectations which I am pleased to say were exceeded. I feel Stray took me to places I would not have known about if I was to travel it alone and the home stays were an amazing experience and probably the highlight of my trip! I was blessed with a really fun group of people on my tour, many I will stay in contact with after I return home, but for me the tour leaders really made the experience. I feel incredibly lucky to have had Kit Kat all the way from the start of my tour in Bangkok and then Coco throughout Cambodia. I felt very comfortable with them and with their vast knowledge of the area and language skills it really takes the stress out of everything. Not only were they very professional at their jobs they still spent time with us socialising with group dinners and nights out and I now see them as friends and not just tour leaders! Thank you to everyone involved but especially Kit and Coco for making my Asian adventure so fun. I hope to come back one day!
