The amazing Etosha National Park, the wild-life and the Sand-Dunes (magnificent geological formations) are Namibia's unique signature. Great experience with Wild Dog Safaris. It was my first camping trip in a group as an adult and the experience was great - both Group/Guide/Cook-wise, facilities-wise (toilets/showers/drinking water available at each camp site), and schedule-wise. Questions... Read more

Milner of Wild Dogs Safari was amazing. His smile, knowledge, adaptability to the needs of all of the travelers and just his attitude about life made this trip one for lifelong memories. This was my first time traveling using a tent but my group of fellow... Read more

Wild Dog Safaris commented on this review
Dear Emanuele, We so value all our reviews, and although the norm for us is very happy clients, we do listen to the points that are raised in such reviews and therefor I will also be honest with my responses. Yes, this trip had to have a change of guide. Milner had a death in his family and so we needed to make an urgent change. Milner is an outgoing and friendly guide that has been doing this job for many years. The back up (freelance) guide that was able to help at such short notice is also a guide we have known for many years but his style of guiding is very different – he is much quieter, also friendly and full of knowledge and experience. I’ve known him for about 20 years and he has never been impolite or unprofessional on any of his trips before. It is often a problem though because you get used to one style of person and then it’s very hard to have a different person for the last couple of nights. I am sorry that you didn’t get on with him, he said he really tried to work with you on the trip. When you join a group, it’s not easy to make changes to the itinerary as it doesn’t always suit everyone. I think that you were keen to change timings and the schedule a bit and he couldn’t do that. The vehicle you had (H7) has less than 30 000 km on the clock and it was brand new 6 months ago. If you could please email me with further details on this because I really don’t understand this comment. (liz@wilddog-safaris.com) This vehicle is very new, new cab and chassis, new seats, new flooring… The piece of string you took a photo of is because the window is so new, the clasp is tough to hook on. I don’t know who put that string on but possibly a client from the previous trip and our workshop didn’t notice it. The small side window has a bit of rubber missing from it due to clients constantly putting their feet on this window. We are going to put something here to allow clients to put their feet there without breaking the rubber and window. Emanuele, the cooler you had was sized for 5 people because you were 5 people on the trip. When there are more people, we have different coolers. There are long distances to cover and the roads are gravel. There will be some dust, its unavoidable, the seats are new but they are safari seats, rather than luxury bus seats. Yes, with the Himba village, its not the first complaint we have had and we are busy to make a change but this is taking a little bit of time. I do agree with you and we are in discussions to make a village change. It is a village for women and orphaned children that we were keen to support as tourism can bring an income to otherwise troubled people but I do understand that its not working well here. We hope to have a change by the end of December 2018. The glamping comment has come up before and we have now taken this out of any information from us. I think that different people interpret this differently, we just meant that your camping has flush toilets, swimming pools and hot showers. We are seriously doing further training with our guides and assistants. This will happen in the next two months, just after Christmas. The menus and food will be gone over extensively. However, yes, we do suggest to our assistant that they cook extra pasta or rice the night before so that you have a change from sandwiches at lunch time. Pasta or rice salad is usually well received by our clients. I said I would be honest with my responses and I will be. With 5 clients on this trip, we didn’t actually break even. Behind the scenes there is a lot going on to keep the trip running well. We always keep a vehicle available for back up just incase there is a problem. We do our utmost to remain competitive with our costs but to also support all our staff and local communities. Having said that, we are looking at our costings for some of our trips and if we possibly can, we will be offering some low season specials for the first half of 2019. We will put these rates on our website in the next few weeks. Our trips are not for everyone, and I think that we have had some wonderful reviews that have maybe increased clients expectations. We will be checking our website to make sure we portray correct details and clients understand what our trips are all about. Liz Kirby, Director.
