Questions & Answers

Here we have collected and answered the most frequently asked questions about this tour.

    • Can I include the safari game drive through Etosha in this tour?

On days 10 and 11 you will drive through the Etosha National Park while in the tourism truck. An optional safari can also be arranged and paid for locally. This is subject to availability on the exact day and we can't take payment for this option upfront.

    • What does "on a shoestring" mean?

Encounters Travel runs two levels of their African 'overland' tours. Their shoestring tours are camping based, so you will be sleeping in a tent most of the way, with a few nights here and there in hotels or guesthouses. Their other 'Small group' tours follow the same routes and use the same vehicles, but stay in hotels, lodges and guesthouses the whole way.

    • How much wildlife will we see on this tour?

Whilst you will have plenty of opportunities to view wildlife on this tour, the itinerary is very mixed and this is not solely a wildlife or safari tour. Your best opportunities whilst on this tour to see wildlife will be in Etosha National Park, Okavango Delta and in Chobe National Park.

Naturally we can't guarantee what game you'll see as this really just depends on the time of year you are travelling and what animals happen to be in the places you are visiting at that time.

Overall we believe this is a great, varied tour where you'll see and do a lot, whilst still having plenty of opportunities for wildlife viewing.

Booking was really easy! The options were displayed clearly and I was able to filter. I especially liked that they recommended a travel insurer because I've never had to get travel insurance. No hassle experience and now I'm ready for my tour!
