    4.5 - Excellent

Joined a group in process. Made great connections with others joining at same time, but existing group (and one of the guides) was very tight knit. Overall, a great experience and adventure, and I would highly recommend Dragoman tours and plan to travel... Read more

Questions & Answers

Here we have collected and answered the most frequently asked questions about this tour.

  • What is the kitty payment?

Dragoman's Kitty for Patagonia & Amazon between Quito and Rio de Janeiro (from Quito to Rio De Janeiro) is a group fund for this tour. The group fund pays for camping, hotels, food while camping, activities the group does as a whole (based on the itinerary mentioned above and in the brochure).

The Kitty allows the group to be flexible as the hotels and campsites are not pre booked and booked by the crew while travelling which makes the whole itinerary more adabtable than the traditional tours. Sometimes you can stay an extra night at one location due to a special activity happening at the location, based on the groups wishes. All of these costs are paid at cost price and Dragoman makes no money out of it. Therefore, if money is left over in the Kitty after the tour, it will be paid back to the group members.

  • James12th May 2018
I was able to sort through the various trips until I found a couple I wanted to take. After I booked I misjudged the travel time between when one tour ended and when I had to get to the next one (I didn't realize there were no evening flights where I was). TourRadar was great in connecting me with the tour operator and they were in turn great with helping me change the itinerary so I could do both trips without any extra hassle.
