Loved it. Exactly what I expected which is to not expect anything and to take and love Cuba for what it is. Our local tour guide Lucy was really excellent. She could answer all our questions and gave us great insight on the people, culture, country. She went above and beyond to help everyone on their sometimes unusual and demanding requests even at 2am in the morning (thank you for your patience and good humour!) she’s also great fun and a friend who I hope can visit one day. The group was diverse and good fun. The tour provided a good balance of culture, history, nature and relaxing beach time. The add’ons made it easy for us to customize what we wanted to do. The home stays were comfortable and added to the authentic experience. Travellers should know that Cuba is beautiful and unique, but does not have the luxury comforts of home. Some tour members were frustrated by things beyond our control (shops and money exchanges not being open when they say they are, internet not working where it should, electricity outages, petrol shortages for the bus, no snacks at stopovers, lack of food diversity, etc.) travelers should understand this and be come with an open mind when visiting this beautiful country. Overall I recommend this tour - great value, flexible, great guidance for Lucy. Thank you!

I once again had a fantastic trip with G and completely fell in love with Cuba! This country with its warm-hearted people is truly inspiring - so different than anything else I had seen before. I was impressed by the beauty of the island, but also by its warm-hearted people with their incredible creativity and will - Cuba can be really challenging sometimes, but they never seem to give up. The itinerary was great, especially for the short amount of time we had and the activities were very well-balanced. I loved Trinidad and Viñales, but also Havana with its charming old town and the beautiful Playas del Este (we added for extra nights in Havana after the trip, as you don't have much time to discover the city on the tour). Our tour guide Carlos Ramón was fantastic - a very nice, knowledgeable, caring and involved guy. He really did everything for us to have an amazing stay, told us a lot about the Cuban culture and history as well as about his own life in Cuba. I felt like being part of a small family - and this was primarily due to him and his commitment for the group. Carlos Ramón always spent also the evenings with us and organized awesome localities for us to have dinner together (not easy to organize for the whole group and especially around New Year's Eve) and showed us the best bars and discos in the different places. I would highly recommend this trip to everybody as it gives you a great insight into this beautiful island and its culture in a short amount of time. Just be aware of the fact that you are going to Cuba - an extremely beautiful but totally different country where a lot doesn't work (or at least not in the same way you are used to from your home countries). If you're not afraid of long waiting times (no matter whether you are going tp the restaurant, want to change money or grab your lugagge at the airport), shops with nearly nothing to buy (sometimes not even bottled water) and very basic accommodations (the homestays were the best way to experience the real Cuba!!), you will have an amazing experience!

I have mixed feelings about this tour. There were aspects of it that were great, such as being in Havana and Trinidad (beautiful cities) and having the opportunity to see Cuban culture. Cuba is a beautiful country with a beautiful culture! My concerns relate mostly to the accommodation and with the tour guide, Di. Firstly, with respect to two places I stayed. Somewhere on the trip I believe I was bit by bed bugs, as I had huge welts in clusters of three, that were insanely itchy. I suspect it was at the homestay in Vinales. That being said, my host family was amazing. Secondly, the accommodation where I spent my last night was terrible. My room was dusty and as someone who has allergies I could not breathe or sleep the whole night. The room also had a terrible musty smell. Now to the tour guide Di. While she was fun, she was very rigid in enforcing where we would eat dinner. I believe she had side deals with the restaurants. The food was overpriced. I also am not a fan of Cuban food so being your own spices if you go. I would have thought if we were paying extra the food would be a bit better. What really upset me the most was I was trying to figure out transport back to veradero from Havana. The tour guide contacted her son who quoted 120cuc.. when I said that is too expensive she seemed to dismiss any other ways of getting transport and she said the piece was high because it was 2.5 hours away. That did not end up being true. Di also said it was because I was leaving at 6am which raises the rate. That is bullshit. I tried to explain that the trip cost more money than I thought and spending 120cuc (which would be more money in Canadian dollars) is difficult for me. She couldn't care less and I could see she was leaving it open so that I would desperately book with her friend! I have booked trips in the past with G Adventures and the CEO's always helped with transport. I ended up networking and I found a taxi to veradero for 80 CUC. Also, Di would always talk to the bus driver and go off with him leaving the group on their own many times. The last thing is that Di was not so open to suggestions because she was rigid and just wanted to stick to her plan. Lastly, I forgot to mention my transfer did not show up to the airport

Thanks for letting us know. It seems like we got some things right, and have some other things to get better at. I am sorry if there were elements that detracted from your travels with us. Bed bugs are no ones idea of fun,and we will work to ensure other travellers are not impacted in the same way - thanks for letting us know.

    1.0 - Bad

One of the worst tours I've ever been on. Just rice and beans. Not enough food. People hassling you to buy things. Tour guides were bad. Definitely do not book through STA travel.

Our Jorge Luis was a knowledgeable, easy going and calm guide. He made our experience of Cuba much better. The highlights for me was going to a nightclub in a cave (beware there is no ventilation and people do smoke) and going horse riding

I was able to sort through the various trips until I found a couple I wanted to take. After I booked I misjudged the travel time between when one tour ended and when I had to get to the next one (I didn't realize there were no evening flights where I was). TourRadar was great in connecting me with the tour operator and they were in turn great with helping me change the itinerary so I could do both trips without any extra hassle.
