The accommodation was all for the most part, a lot better than I was expecting. The tour guide was informative and knowledgeable, but he didn't really have the energetic/sociable vibe that you usually get from a tour guide. Overall, if you decide to do this leg of the tour, just Bangkok to Ho chi mihn, I STRONGLY recommend staying 2 days before and 2 days after the tour starts and ends. Because otherwise you will have 0 time in Bangkok or Saigon. Many days they told us, "Oh, it will be a 6 hour journey to our next city", but instead our entire day was lost on a bus 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM.

HI Taylor, thanks for your comments and useful tips. The Wats up Cambodia tour is a whistlestop adventure through some of the most popular sites in South East Asia and because of the poor transport connections, it can sometimes take a while to travel from A to B. We like to think of this as part of the adventure however. We are pleased you enjoyed the tour but if you have any further feedback, don't hesitate to contact us on

I just came back from the What's Up Cambodia Tucan Travel 8 day tour. Let me tell you... Avoid this company if you can. Go to Cambodia, but don't go with Tucan. So I will start with the good. The tour guide, Poleak, was great. He was thoughtful, and fun. The places we saw were wonderful. The local guides were great. The people on my tour were lovely. The hotels were ok. Now for the bad. First of all NOTHING besides the transportation and accommodations is included. You will pay for EVERY SINGLE thing you do. So the whole budget tour thing is a lie. You end up paying more than you would for a nicer company. You spend $20-$40 a day extra. The tour is organized horribly. You travel during the day every other day. You're supposed to get 2 full days in each country but you get 1 at most because you spend a full day on the buss. The tour guide said he tried to get Tucan to let him book overnight busses and they refused. The tour guide was zero control of transportation between locations. Tucan books everything. You spend full 4 out of 8 days on these buses. And they don't even get coach buses. You are on horrible public buses. Ours mostly had NO AC, when you're traveling in 120 degree heat with no option to open windows, they broke down 2-4 times. Just Bad. We all got heat stroke from one of these buses and were sick for days. AVOID TUCAN!!!!

We are really sorry that your tour didn't meet your expectations Daiva. Our Wat's Up Cambodia tour is a budget trip with very little included in the trip price. This gives you the flexibility to pick and choose what you want to do and see on a day to day basis. The tour also covers great distances and as travel is on the local transport as advertised, on roads of varying quality, it is sometimes only possible to travel during the day, whether that is because of timetabling or because safety is our priority.

This was amazing tour! We got to spend a day in Angor Wat, had loads of fun on Pub Street of Siem Reap, munched on tarantulas in Phnom Penh and I absolutely fell in love with Ho Chi Minh City! All places we got to see were busy & bustling with life. Gang on a tour was great - I really made some great friends! It was hard to say good bye to them though as most of them were going on to do Vietnam after this tour and I had to go back. Can't wait to go back and see whole of Vietnam!

This tour was amazing. Within a week you visit three countries, three capital cities and get the opportunity so see some unimaginable things. As a budget tour I found my group to be young and like minded people who I have stayed in touch with afterwards. It was also extremely reasonable. When we arrived at each city we had an orientation walk from our guide Brian. Whilst travelling by bus to the boarders or next city we had a little history lesson to fill us in on what we were about to see. Brian was alway eager for us to ask questions and had enthusiasm for every place we visited. All optional excursions were run by local guides. In the Ho Chi Mingh tunnel we had a war veteran, in the Cambodian killing fields our guide has lost her uncle to the genocide and at Angkor Wat our guide was proud to show us a badge he had trained and worked hard for. Their expertise cannot be rivalled and having local guides made the experience much more memorable and at times emotional for them and us! We travelled by public bus most of the time but they were surprisingly organised with set numbers, the occasional air con and one had a DVD playing!! Brian was fantastic at organising the group in everything from being ready to catch the bus to organising dinner a group at his favourite restaurants. The hotels were all perfectly located. Everything was walking distance except in phenom phen where we were advised to use 'tuk tuks' - so much fun!! All in all I couldn't fault this tour. In a short space of time it is amazing how much you see, I made some amazing friends, met some fascinating people and had the trip of a life time! One thing I may suggest is that if you have time, stay on the tour to Hanoi. It was hard leaving the group when everyone still had the majority of Vietnam to travel. But if you only have a week off work- Cambodia or Wat is brilliant!!
