    2.0 - Rather poor

The tour guide was helpful if you asked them questions but otherwise could be very abrasive and unpleasant. Right from the very beginning of the tour he would cut people off as they were speaking, talk to them in a rude and unpleasant manner and shout at them for catastrophic dramas that hadn't yet happened. phrases such as "don't get shitty with me" were often used. There was also a general feel that you were being ripped off throughout the tour. The restaurants we were taken to did not reflect south east Asia's reputation for being cheap and were often subpar. The tour could be disorganised at certain times, we once spent an hour sitting on the side of the road at five o clock in the morning because no transport had been arranged to take us from the bus station to our hotel and the tour guide was struggling to organise taxis. It was at moments like this that I began to wonder where my $650 local payment had gone. The organised bike rides did not include a helmet, this worried me because my guide book had advised that road accidents were the leading cause of death for foreigners in SE Asia and strongly advised never travelling on a bike of any sort without a helmet. I was also worried on the first bike ride because my brakes did not work and the tour guide failed to hear this when I loudly told him my brakes didn't work. At this point being treated without the basic respect paying customers deserve was just something we had all acclimatised to. I was quite surprised when on the second bike ride, the tour guides brakes did not work and we were taken on an 40 minute search around the town in the mid day heat to find a bicycle with brakes that did work. I was even more surprised when he finally chose a newer and more expensive mountain bike and paid for it with the funds from our local payment. Safety persisted to be an afterthought when we were herded onto the funky monkey booze cruise after a sleepless night on an overnight sleeper bus. There was little protection from the sun on this cruise and so most of the day was spent in our swimming costumes in the sun. further, we had to leave the boat at each stop and had to pay to get onto the island we had stopped at. This meant we were being forced to make payments we hadn't been told about and so had no money left over for things like water or drinks which had to be paid for on the boat as well. The next day we were left with no accommodation because we were taking a sleeper bus that night, consequently, those who were severely sun burnt from the day before, had no opportunity to shelter themselves from the sun without spending the day sitting in cafes. Experiences like these tainted the trip a great deal. I couldn't decide if it was Tucan or the guide that was ripping us off at every opportunity but ultimately I have decided not to use this particular company a second time.

    5.0 - Excellent

South east asia loop was my first ever group tour by myself, and I had an amazing time. Our guide was great, very informative and easy to get along with. The trip itself was one I'm never going to forget, we traveled through so many beautiful locations, had good accommodations, and ate great food! I felt comfortable and safe every step of the way. I would absolutely recommend this trip to anyone who wants to see and experience south east Asia.

    4.5 - Excellent

Best month of my life, met incredible people that are friends for life and experienced such adventures. Didn't want it to end

The worst day on tour is the last day when everyone goes their separate ways. You have millions of memories though and friends all around the world to visit. If you can handle the emotional trauma of another incredible experience, we would love to see you on another trip with us soon. :-)

I had a great time on this tour. It was brilliant fun and I have made experiences and friends for life. I had a nice tour guide who was full of information but could be irresponsible at times.

Questions & Answers

Here we have collected and answered the most frequently asked questions about this tour.

    • February 1, 2017

Can we add excursions on this tour?

Yes. You can add other excursions like Abu Simbel and Alexandria as optional excursions.

    • August 19, 2016

Does the tour guide and the tour group stay the same for the full 29 days or does this change?

We cannot guarantee whether the guide will stay the same the whole way through. Moreover, as this tour is on a continuous loop, there may be travellers who have already been travelling since an earlier point in the tour, so you may be joining an existing group. Bangkok though is a very popular joining point for the tour, so there are likely a lot of travellers starting at the same time.

Hope this information helps and please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with,
      Kind regards,

Do you usually get many Australians on this tour?

Yes, we do. Most clients booking this tour are from Australia, UK and the USA, however sometimes passengers from other countries book, as well.
