FAQs

    • Will there be any free time on program?

      Most Definitely! In your down time you will be free to travel in the local area and can expect weekends off. In this time you could take part in some of the optional side trips; Cape Town Cultural and Activity Weekend, Stellenbosch Wine Tour, Cape Town Wildlife Safari. Please note that you would not be able to do all of these within a 2 week duration. Before and after your program you could visit the Garden Route or travel up to Kruger National Park – the possibilities are endless!

    • Are there any specific times when schools are closed and do the programs still run?

      In December & January schools are closed. We always operate alternative activities such as holiday summer camps or doing maintenance task to ensure the upkeep of the centers which we work in.

    • What are some tips for volunteers travelling out to the field?

      During the winter months Cape Town weather can get cold especially in the evenings accommodation in South Africa generally don't include central heating.
      It is important to aware that we not only work in a children’s home but in educares for disadvantaged children within the community.
      Bring more spending money of you would like to do a lot of extra trips and activities during your stay

    • What are the various durations of this program that are available?

      This program runs for anything from 2 to 12 week durations, depending on the time of year and specific starting date. Please inquire for information regarding this

    • Payment information
      • For any tour departing before 4 June 2020 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after 4 June 2020, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with GVI. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
      • Some departure dates and prices may vary and GVI will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
      • The following cards are accepted for GVI tours: Visa, Maestro, Mastercard, American Express or PayPal. TourRadar does NOT charge you an extra fee for using any of these payment methods.
