- Day 1
Rome
You'll be met at the airport and taken to your hotel, where your guide gives you a quick overview of what's ahead. Once you've settled in, head out to Via Cavour in the evening to find dinner. The area has plenty of options, from Italian to Indian, Chinese, and other international spots, so you can choose based on what sounds good after your travel day.

- Day 2
Rome
Your morning starts with a three-hour guided tour that combines walking through Imperial Rome with a bus ride showing you the Arch of Constantine, Colosseum exterior, Imperial Forums, Circus Maximus, Baths of Caracalla, Basilica of Saint Mary Major, Pyramid of Cestius, and Castel Sant'Angelo. By 11:00 a.m., you'll arrive at Vatican City where you can optionally visit the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel on your own. In the evening, transfer to Trastevere for dinner, and you'll be back at the hotel around 8:30 p.m.

- Day 3
Rome to Florence
Head north from Rome toward Florence, and you'll arrive at Piazzale Michelangelo where the city spreads out below you in all directions. After grabbing lunch, join a guided walking tour that takes you through the historic center, hitting the main spots like Ponte Vecchio with its line of shops, the Duomo with its distinctive dome, and Piazza della Signoria where you can see the copy of Michelangelo's David and the Palazzo Vecchio. Once the tour wraps up, you've got time to wander on your own through the neighborhoods and pick whatever sounds good for dinner from the many options scattered around the area.

- Day 4
Florence to Venice
You'll head north and cross the Apennines toward Venice, with nice mountain views along the way. Once there, a boat takes you across the Giudecca Canal to reach Venice itself. With a local guide, you'll see St. Mark's Square and then visit the Murano Glass Factory to watch how they make glass. After that, you have free time to explore on your own. Your accommodation for the night is in the Mestre district.

- Day 5
Venice to Innsbruck to Zurich
You'll leave Venice and drive to Austria, arriving in Innsbruck where you'll spend time exploring the historic center and having lunch. From there, the route takes you through beautiful Tyrolean landscapes as you cross into Switzerland, eventually reaching Zurich by day's end.

- Day 6
Zurich to Lucerne
This day features mountain and lake scenery as you head through Interlaken. You'll stop in Grindelwald for a coffee break, then take a cable car up the mountain to walk along a winding path to the 'footbridge over the emptiness'. Once there, you'll cross the bridge with glacier views all around. Lunch is included on the mountain before heading back down. Later, you'll drive to Lucerne, one of Switzerland's really nice cities, with the evening free to explore.

- Day 7
Lucerne to Einsiedeln to Vaduz to Feldkirch
After leaving Lucerne, you'll travel along the shores of the Lake of the Four Cantons to reach Einsiedeln, where there's a large baroque abbey that serves as an important pilgrimage center. Then you'll head east to Heididorf to see Heidi's House (admission costs extra). Next, you'll enter Liechtenstein and visit its capital, Vaduz, with its castle overlooking the town. You have free time to walk around and have lunch. Later, you'll go to Feldkirch in Austria, a walled city with a medieval quarter and castle, and you'll have time to explore there too.

- Day 8
Feldkirch to St. Gallen to Constance to Stein am Rhein to Rhine Falls to Zurich
You'll head to St. Gallen, whose historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and visit the abbey library with its baroque hall holding 170,000 volumes and an Egyptian mummy (admission included). From there, you'll travel along Lake Constance to Constance, Germany, to see its medieval old town, cathedral, and market square, with time for lunch and walking around. Later you'll return to Switzerland to visit Stein am Rhein, known for beautifully painted houses. You'll see the Rhine Falls (tickets included), which are Europe's most powerful waterfalls. You'll arrive back in Zurich in the evening.

Zurich
Your guide takes you through Zurich, Switzerland's largest city and its financial and cultural hub. You'll take a scenic nearly two-hour boat cruise on Lake Zurich with brief stops at small villages along the way. You'll get off at Rapperswil, a village with a medieval castle. After that, you'll take the train back to Zurich to experience how reliable and on-time the Swiss trains are.
