Itinerary
- Day 1
Nairobi
Your Kenya adventure begins this evening with a welcome meeting at 6 pm in Nairobi. If you're arriving before then, you've got time to check out the National Museum of Kenya, the Karen Blixen Museum, or Bomas of Kenya on your own. It's a good chance to get oriented before meeting the group.

Kenya to Tanzania (Mto wa Mbu)
An early start from Nairobi as you head south toward Mto wa Mbu in the overland truck. You'll cross from Kenya into Tanzania during the day, stopping at an ATM and local market to grab supplies. By evening you'll arrive at this small village that sits away from the main tourist routes, giving you a real feel for the area.

Ngorongoro Crater - Serengeti
Before dawn you'll load into a six-person jeep with camping gear and head into Ngorongoro Crater. You'll spend 3 to 4 hours here looking for black rhinos, lions, leopards, elephants, impalas, zebras, and hippos. After that, the truck takes you out to Serengeti's wide plains where thousands of animals move freely. Your camp sits right within the Serengeti itself.

- Day 4
Serengeti
Start before sunrise for a game drive when wildlife is most active, then head back to camp for brunch around 11 am. The heat during midday makes it perfect for resting or reading. Later in the afternoon you'll head out for another game drive before dinner. There's an optional pre-booked hot air balloon ride available if you book ahead, which includes a five-star bush breakfast after landing.

Serengeti to Mto wa Mbu
Up early for one last game drive through the Serengeti before you leave for Mto wa Mbu in the overland vehicle. Once you arrive and set up camp, a local guide takes you on a walk through farming areas and homes to meet people from the community. After that you'll have dinner in town, experiencing local food and hospitality.

Landmarks Serengeti National Park - Day 6
Mto wa Mbu to Usambara Mountains (Lushoto)
Today's a long drive heading toward the Usambara Mountains. You'll stop briefly in Arusha for supplies, then continue as the landscape changes around you. There's plenty of time to read or chat with other travelers before arriving in Lushoto, a highland town at about 1400 metres. You'll camp on the grounds of one of Africa's oldest hotels.

Landmarks Usambara Mountains 
- Day 7
Usambara Mountains (Lushoto)
Spend the day exploring the Usambara Mountains with a walk up to Irente viewpoint, which offers great views across the region. Bring water and snacks since you'll be out most of the day. You'll visit local communities to see how people live there and learn about their culture. On the way back down, stop at a local cultural project where lunch will be prepared for you.

Landmarks Irente Viewpoint Usambara Mountains - Day 8
Usambara Mountains to Dar es Salaam
You'll leave the mountains and travel south toward the coast, arriving in Kipepeo Beach in Dar es Salaam. Your camp is right by the beach, so once you settle in, take a walk along the shore to stretch your legs and get the salt air.

Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar
This morning you'll drive to Dar es Salaam and catch a ferry over to Zanzibar. Once there, a local guide takes you through Stone Town where you can try local food and learn how people actually live on the island. The official tour ends around 3 pm, but you're free to stay longer and wander through the markets, shops, mosques, palaces, and narrow courtyards at your own pace.
