Sintra

In the afternoon, you can visit the National Palace or spend time wandering the streets trying local treats like travesseiro pastries or sipping ginjinha liquor.

In Cascais, you'll have free time to check out the charming streets, marina, and vibrant atmosphere. Heading back to Sintra, you'll visit Pena Palace perched on the town's highest hill. You can wander through lush gardens, hear tales of kings and queens, and explore the beautifully preserved palace rooms.

Sintra to Lisbon

Later, you'll end in Alfama, Lisbon's oldest neighborhood, where you'll have lunch with a private fado performance bringing the soul of Portugal to life. After that, you can return to the hotel with the group or continue exploring Lisbon on your own and catch a taxi back.

Alternatively, head into Lisbon to wander charming neighborhoods or shop in the cosmopolitan Chiado district. Your trip leader can share ideas based on what interests you.

After lunch, you'll visit one of Lisbon's last traditional azulejo tile factories where artisans make handcrafted tiles using time-honored techniques. You'll paint your own tile to take home as a souvenir.

After Óbidos, you'll continue to Porto, the birthplace of legendary Port wine, with the evening free to explore.

Then you'll visit a top quinta (estate) to learn about Douro wine history and taste their wines. After a 3-course lunch in wine country paired with estate wines, you'll visit another quinta to sample Porto's famous wines paired with chocolate. You'll conclude with a scenic cruise back to Porto.
