- Day 1
Cape Town to Matjiesfontein
You'll check in at the Rovos Rail Lounge at 8 am and board the luxury train around 9:30 am from Cape Town. The train heads inland through the Winelands with lunch and afternoon tea served on board as you travel toward Matjiesfontein. If there's time before dinner, you can walk around the historic town center and get a feel for the area.

- Day 2
Karoo Region

Kimberley
The train stops in Kimberley where you'll get off to explore the town's diamond mining heritage. You can visit the Diamond Mining Museum and see the Big Hole, the massive open-cast mining pit that shaped this city's entire history.

Pretoria
You'll disembark and take a bus to Pretoria for a tour of South Africa's capital. Lunch happens at the Rovos Rail station, then you'll tour the station and the luxury trains if weather cooperates. After that, you head back to the train for the evening.

You leave the train with just small luggage for a 2-day stay at a lodge in Madikwe Game Reserve near the Botswana border. After settling in, you'll go on your first game drive in the afternoon to see the wildlife across this landscape.

Madikwe to Botswana and Kalahari

Zimbabwe Journey
The train travels to Zimbabwe while you relax on board, passing through dramatic landscapes. You'll pass Gwaai and Dete, traveling alongside Hwange National Park where animals occasionally appear from the train. Later you'll cross Africa's longest straight train route at 114 km with dinner served as you head to Thompson's Junction.

- Day 9
Victoria Falls
You arrive at Victoria Falls and disembark with small overnight luggage. In the afternoon, you'll take a sunset boat trip on the Zambezi River, then spend the evening at the Victoria Falls Hotel right by the train station.

- Day 10
Victoria Falls to Livingstone
The morning is yours to explore Victoria Falls independently and book optional activities through the train crew if you want. After lunch at the hotel around 3 pm, you continue over the bridge into Zambia, crossing the Kafue Railway Bridge, a 477 meter steel truss bridge with 13 arches. The rest of the day you travel at leisure through Zambia heading northeast and passing through Lusaka.

Kasama
You spend a relaxing day aboard the train traveling the TAZARA railroad line, arriving in Kasama and continuing northward through Zambia at an easy pace.

Chisimba Falls
An excursion in the morning takes you to Chisimba Falls where the Luome River drops about 30 meters into the valley below. Afterward, the train continues heading north.
