You'll board the Ghan in Adelaide and settle into your cabin for this legendary train journey. The train departs at 12:10 on Wednesday or 12:15 on Sunday, so you'll have time to get comfortable before heading north. Rural landscapes start passing by your window as you travel toward the Flinders Ranges, which happen to be the world's oldest rock formation. Spend the afternoon watching the scenery change as the train carries you through South Australia.

Marla to Alice Springs

This is a good spot to book optional excursions if you want to explore the surrounding wilderness before the train departs again at 18:00 or 18:15.

Your train journey ends in Darwin, pulling in at 19:50 on Friday or 17:30 on Tuesday, completing your trip north.
