The tour is well-organized, covering the best of Turkey’s Aegean coast, including ancient ruins and the stunning Pamukkale, although some of the accommodations could use improvement. Our CEO, Huseyin, is knowledgeable, attentive, and caring. His knowledge of history, Turkey, and the world is top-notch. He’s also well-read—when I mentioned Orhan Pamuk’s novel My Name Is Red, he was familiar with it and even recommended more Turkish literature. Overall, it’s a fantastic tour with the perfect blend of history and nature.

    Asked on August 31st, 2024

I and 3 others who have signed up for the Istanbul, Cappadocia and Turquoise Coast tour in late March 2025 plan to arrive early to explore Istanbul on our own. We would like as much detail as possible about the Istanbul portion of the Geluxe trip so that we can avoid duplication. I realize that itinerary details may change but we need to make reservations for a couple of our activities this fall. We are also working around days when some sights are closed. Does your itinerary include a visit into the Basilica Cistern or just a walk by it? Is a stop at the Egyptian/Spice Bazaar planned? What time will day 1 begin? When is free time expected to begin on the afternoon of day 2? If possible, we would like to catch the tram to the Kabataş pier for a 2pm Bosphorus cruise when the temperature will be more pleasant than the later sunset cruise. Any additional information that goes beyond what is on the website or in the downloaded brochure would be appreciated.

On day 2, you have the 3-4 hour walking tour of Istanbul: Head out on a walking tour of Istanbul, visiting the Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, and the Basilica Cistern. Enjoy street food döner sandwiches and wraps for lunch then explore the Grand Bazaar and Spice Bazaar before taking the rest of the afternoon and evening at leisure. Based on this information your free time should start anywhere from 12 pm onwards, but we can always reach out to the local office once we have a confirmed booking. This is not a guaranteed time, but rather an estimated guess. The best bet would be to book your Bosphorus cruise before the tour, so you are guaranteed the time you wish to go. You can always fill day 2 with the Basilica Cistern and the Grand Bazaar if you feel like you haven't spent enough time there while on the orientation walk. Your tour usually starts with the welcome dinner on day 1, between 5 pm and 7 pm whereafter you will head out on your evening orientation walk.
