- What are the optional excursions?
The tour operator has advised that there are no optional excursions available for this tour, as the itinerary is already packed with great inclusions.
- Can you assist with booking additional accommodation?
Of course, we can! Once you have a confirmed booking on this tour, we can request additional accommodation for you with the tour operator.
- Is there a hotel list available?
The price of this tour does not include accommodation. Instead, the tour operator reserves dorm beds in their Highland hostels for everybody whilst on tour. Accommodation on this tour is made in backpacker hostels, in multi-share dormitories (bunk-beds). All the hostels have a self-catering kitchen so if you don't fancy going out to the local pubs or restaurants for a meal you can cook yourself.
Your accommodation in dorm style rooms is guaranteed and you just pay either with cash or by credit card on arrival. Prices range from £17 and £20 per night.

As a tour booking website, TourRadar cannot organise visas for you on your behalf as the visa requirements are regularly being updated and vary for the nationality of one traveller to the next. It is for this reason that we recommend checking with your local embassy or consulate website for the latest up to date information.
- Are meals included?
The price of the tour doesn’t include food. However MacBackpackers do make supermarket stops every day and each of the hostels has a well-equipped kitchen for you to use. There will also be pubs and restaurants near each hostel if you feel like eating out in the evening.
- When and where does the tour start?
This tour leaves Edinburgh at Castle Rock Hostel (15 Johnston Terrace, Edinburgh, EH1 2PW) at 9 am (between April and October) and 8 am (between November and March).
Meeting point and time is subject to change until final documents are released, and you should always check your email confirmation for exact departure time and location. - Does the price of this trip include admission fees?
Entrance fees are not included in the price of the tour.
- Are the tours in English?
The tour guides are all local Scotsmen so all the tours are in English. However they have been guiding young backpackers from all over the world for many years - many of them non-native speakers. You will always be able to ask whenever you don't understand.
- When and where does the tour end?
Depending on traffic or weather conditions the tour usually returns to Castlerock Hostel in Edinburgh (15 Johnston Terrace, Edinburgh, EH1 2PW) between 4:30 pm and 6:00 pm during the winter season (November to March) and 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm during the summer season (April to October).
