Overall, this was an amazing trip where I got to meet some great people and have some fantastic new experiences. Like all group trips, your experience will depend on who else is on the trip as well as what you decide to do during the optional activities. The beauty of G Adventures is that there are numerous optional activities so you can tailor your trip. If you want to have a more relaxing vacation then that is possible and if you want to be extremely active then that is an option. During our trip it rained everyday but that actually made some adventures, like the whitewater rafting and the kayaking, more exciting. This might not have been the case for everyone but that’s what happens when you visit Costa Rica in July. A number of people on the tour were not thrilled with the level of accommodations but I didn’t have a problem with them. During this tour you are going to spend very little time inside you room. You’ll either be out participating in activities, eating, or having a good time with the group. You are normally only in the room to sleep and shower. The rooms will NOT be at the level in your country. You may or may not have air conditioning, hot water, or hair dryers. Those who had problems were usually able to switch rooms. Expect the accommodations to be a step above a hostel. In Sarapiqui the group shared three huts. There were 6 people in my specific one and my “room” had a curtain instead of a door. As a male solo traveler this didn’t bother me. One couple had to sleep in separate twin beds. Our guide, Jorge, was very good. You can tell he loves his country and is very knowledgeable about it. He always had answers whenever anyone had questions. Since it rained so much on our tour, there was always a plan B which kept us active. He was well organized and helpful to those with special dietary needs. One member of the group lost a Go Pro strap and he coordinated with the kayaking company so that it was waiting for her in our last hotel. He was also excellent at spotting wildlife even while travelling in our van. I would highly recommend this tour but dial down your expectations on the accommodations before you arrive.

Thanks for the detailed review here! Costa Rica has so much to offer, and it seems you made the most of it - even with the rain thrown in!

    3.5 - Good

Pamela Gutierrez, our guide is great and we have enjoyed our time with her. Our trip was changed due to a tropical storm, so our itinerary was diverted to Montverde. We were limited to indoor activities like cooking class and salsa class. We were disappointed as it would have been better to compensate us with vouchers that can be used to pay for activities of our choice. We recognise this was not Pamela's decision but it was from g adventure. We raised our concern and we were finally given a nature walk activity that we would have at Tortuguero. We have found out that on day 5, breakfast was not included, and day 8 lunch was not included in the journey. However, the itinerary provided on your website at the time of booking was included. The changed itinerary has costed about an additional £180 for our trip. It is very disappointing that we are not able to go to Tortuguero and we understand this is beyond your control. We hope to go back to Tortuguero in the future with g adventure. Would it be possible to offer some form of compensation or a discount for a trip to Tortuguero?

    4.5 - Excellent

My experience was absolutely incredible. It was the first time I have ever done anything like this, traveling all by myself. It was great meeting new people, developing friendships, and doing some exciting things in a beautiful country. Gabriel was our guide and he did a tremendous job! He is extremely knowledgeable about the country and its culture and was educating us on some interesting facts about the country. But he also was a fun guy that really made the trip enjoyable. His made sure that everyone was comfortable and that all concerns were met, and if they weren't he found a way to fix that. Great time in an awesome place with incredible people. Can't wait to go back!

My Kayaking adventure was a 5 star overall. We had a fabulous guide who knew his country very well and obviously loved it very much. We were given lots of time to do what we wanted to do for the tour and rest time if we so wished. The tour was well planned and organized. The slight downside was the accommodations, the first San Jose hotel was not that nice and in a bad part of town. The hotel in La Fortuna was without A/C or a fan until we begged for them. I would have been happy if we had a window but there were either no windows or they did not open depending on what room you were assigned. The food was plentiful when at buffets, the selection very good. When we were on our own for a meal we were always given lots of options for places to go depending on how much you wanted to spend and what your preferences were. Even our Vegan travelers always found something to eat. The Kayaking part of the trip could have been longer but we got what we signed up for (and a bit more). That is just a wish for G Adventures to change the trip so it's more kayaking....not a slight on the current trip. The people I met on the trip were fabulous, a more wonderful group to travel with I cannot imagine! Thank you G Adventures for the experience.

I haven't travelled yet but from what I've seen so far I'm extremely happy I have chosen to travel with TourRadar. From my very first enquiry I was impressed. I had been researching a number of companies to find the right tour for us but all the others took their time in replying and I had to ask a number of times for information. The team at TourRadar were always prompt with answering me and very forthcoming with information. The website was easy to use and I was very impressed that it had so much information. What information I couldn't find on the website was quickly given to me once I asked. Would I refer TourRadar to my friends.....I already have! Now I can't wait to travel
