Yair "Cuba is a very interesting destination. Best is the music, dancing, architecture and art. People are mostly poor but extremely warm and friendly; communicating in Spanish makes a world of difference. The stay at B&B (Casas particulares) is a great way to meet locals and usually see how the better-off (owners) live (when they live there). Breakfasts there are great but be prepared for unexpected pr..."

What an amazing trip. Every single part of this trip was just fantastic. Yaniel, our guide was the best. He was funny, intelligent, attentive, knowledgable and worked his socks off to make sure we all had a great time. We had a small group of 7, mostly... Read more

My boyfriend and I just got back from 2 weeks in Cuba and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We combined the 10 day Vivacious Cuba Tour with 5 days in a resort in Varadero and thought it was great to see both sides of Cuba. Our guide Orlen was very helpful... Read more

The 10 day tour of Cuba was wonderful! I highly recommend it. Our tour guide Orlen explained many things about the sites we were visiting, the culture and history; plus he was great with the 14 different personalities on the trip. The tour ranged from... Read more

I’m a Brit but I picked this tour, even though it seemed to be pitched at Americans, because I wanted a ‘local’ experience and I certainly got that. The tour was well organised. Really insightful information and tips sent before the tour. The tour guide,... Read more

The tour guide was fine but needs a little work. He showed favoritism to some of his clients and neglected others. He didn't talk too much in the bus about the history of Cuba and we left with not knowing a lot. He needs work on his customer service skills

This tour is a bait and switch. The marketing and descriptions are beautiful on the website, but the tour guide and itinerary in general do not deliver. We went on the 10-day tour around Cuba. It was quite obvious that the tour guide prioritizes the selfish... Read more

Locally Sourced Cuba Tours commented on this review
Dear Vivian, Thank you for submitting your feedback. As a manager of our operation in Cuba I really appreciate these detailed comments, as feedback (including negative feedback) is in fact a great help to us to improve our services, and it is the number one way we monitor the quality of our services and is critical in helping our guides to continually improve. I am disappointed that your experience wasn't what you had hoped for. I appreciate that the guide is probably the most important aspect to the success of a tour, so I will be personally addressing the feedback you have provided with your local guide. I would like to strongly reinforce that our guides do not take any commissions on the activities, restaurants and transportation they recommend and help book for our clients. The tour you joined had a number of activities included and there was also a degree of free time to select from some optional activities or explore independently. The activities you mention in your feedback were optional activities and not compulsory for you to join. We would certainly never force our clients to do anything. As we state many times in the tour literature we provide (itinerary, website and pre-departure message): "For your tour all transportation is included between destinations and for any activities/ excursions included in your itinerary that require transportation to and from the venue. Any extra transportation requirements can be organised through your Cuban guide and paid for locally in Cuba." Our tour guides are eager to show as much of Cuba as possible to our clients in the short amount of time you have available to you. Sometimes this means that they will be happy to include activities, even if the weather is a little inclement. Trinidad is the only destination where you get to experience a beautiful Cuban beach on our 10 Day Group Tour, so many of our clients want to visit Playa Ancon... rain, hail or shine. With regards to your accommodation and transportation (which you have rated poorly, but not mentioned), you stayed in the same Casa's/B&B's and used the same transportation that we use for all of the group tours we run, both of which are consistently rated highly by the travellers we host on a weekly basis. If these were not of the standard you were expecting, I believe that we have not managed your expectations as to what to expect when experiencing the real Cuba, its culture and its wonderful people. Thank you again for your feedback. We wish you all the best for 2019 and beyond. Sincerely, Romey

Questions & Answers

Here we have collected and answered the most frequently asked questions about this tour.

  • What are the fitness requirements for this tour?

While there are some optional activities and excursions that could be considered to be physically strenuous, the vast majority of your 10 days in Cuba will not be physically demanding.

Having said that, you will need to have an average level of fitness and mobility. There will be a lot of exploration on foot, and so you should be able to walk without the assistance of another person.

Please also remember that you will be required to carry your own luggage in many instances, as well as being able to enter and exit the tour bus. Some attractions also require you to climb stairs.

  • Can US citizens travel to Cuba Legally?

Locally Sourced Cuba Tours are not experts in U.S. law and the rules around U.S. travel to Cuba appear to have been left purposefully vague. This is their current understanding of the situation regarding travel to Cuba from the U.S.

If you are travelling to Cuba from the U.S, you need to fall under one of the approved categories of travel (regardless of nationality), and independent people-to-people travel is no longer an option. This means that you need to either travel with a licensed US tour operator (Locally Sourced Cuba Tours are not a US based organization) or travel under one of the other approved categories that allows for independent travel to Cuba.

The most popular approved category for independent travel is – ‘Support the Cuban People’. Locally Sourced Cuba Tours design tours to fit this category by fulfilling the following criteria:

    - Tours that patronize privately owned small businesses in Cuba
    - Itineraries designed to expose you to the local Cuban people and steer funds toward its citizens.
    - Opportunities to eat at a Paladares (privately run restaurants)
-Tours that stay at Casa Particulares (privately run accommodation)
    - Clients who have the opportunity to partake in a full schedule of activities focused on people-to-people interaction and cultural exchange.

You can learn more here –

    http://locallysourcedcuba.com/us-travel-to-cuba/

If clients are to travel to Cuba independently under the approved ‘Support the Cuban People’ category, they would be able to obtain their Cuba Visitor Visa through their airline. The airline would also include the required health insurance as part of their air ticket.

Alternatively, they can pre-purchase your Visa here:
