Itinerary - Very good. We squeezed a lot in. Really feel I have had a comprehensive tour. Would say it is moderate to fast paced. Guide - Our Guide was Saladino. An exceptional guide who is passionate about his country. Saladino’s english is Excellent with a capital E. We had another tour guide on one day (the guides occasionally swap groups on a certain day) as a group we collectively spoke about not understanding this guide. We really appreciated Saladino when he continued with us. Saladino was the only guide who had a digital tour guide system which he had purchased himself. It meant I could wander off to take photos and still hear him in the earpiece. Saladino went above and beyond to ensure we all felt listened to and helped if we had a problem. The flights back to Cairo used to be at 11pm at night after check out from the boat early on the morning. Saladino got the flights moved to lunchtime which is definitely much better for us tourists. That is definitely a guide who cares about the tourist experience!! Organisation - Mohammed was the Chief organiser and the 1st person we met at the welcome meeting. He went through the itinerary with us and checked the optional tours in order for us to book if we hadn’t signed up. There were no timings like we would expect in Europe and there were lots of early mornings, so it was probably a good job we didn’t know the times. I think the early starts were due to it being Ramadan. Unfortunately I had an unexpected incident within an hour of setting foot in Cairo. One of the employees (Ali) who met me at the airport (when I asked how much to tip the driver) suggested that I tip him also, seeing that I had $3 in $1 bills and a $10 bill in my purse, he told me to give him a $10 and the driver $3. As I trusted him I complied with the request although for a 10 minute journey I did question this in my head. Later at the welcome meeting when we discussed the tipping culture in Egypt I mentioned this incident to Mohammed. He was immediately not happy hearing my story. Ali should not have taken advantage of me, my transfer was included and complementary. So to cut a long story short Ali was sacked and the company refunded my $13. Mohammed and Sadek definitely have integrity. As a solo traveler I felt safe. Our group of 23 was lovely and comprised of 7 nationalities. Thank you for a great experience Beyond the Nile Tours. The itinerary was very well planned, starting with the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum, then flying to Luxor for the Nile cruise, visiting incredible temples such as Karnak, Luxor, Edfu, Kom Ombo and ending in Aswan with Abu Simbel and the Nubian Village. The Nile cruise was a wonderful way to travel between sites and relax after busy days of exploration. Seeing so many temples, tombs, and monuments from ancient Egypt in such a short time was truly unforgettable.
