Will all the hotels have air conditioning? If not, can I upgrade my hotels? For FEB 4th departure how many people do you have in the group so far? If not enough people will you cancel the trip?

    • Destination Services Costa RicaOperatorWritten January 2026

Most of the hotels included in the itinerary do offer air conditioning. However, please note that hotels in Tortuguero do not have air conditioning. This is standard for the area, and air conditioning is not necessary, as the lodges are designed to stay comfortable with natural ventilation due to the location and climate.

This is a private package or individual package; the trip does not depend on a minimum number of participants and will not be canceled due to group size.

We're planning our visit to Costa Rica with an estimated arrival day of July 21, 2026. We would like to add a couple of days at the end of the tour to stay in San Jose before our flight home departs. Would that be possible? What would be the additional cost and how could we do it?

    • Destination Services Costa RicaOperatorWritten December 2025

Adding an extra night is absolutely possible, and we can organize transfers from your hotel to the airport. The approximate price is $90 USD per person, dependent on the hotel category and room occupancy.

    Asked on November 25th, 2025

I am interested in this tour and I have a question regarding the luggage. On this tour do we leave our luggage at the accommodation or should I have a backpack that we carry from on guided tours? Therefore, can I bring a suitcase or backpack is better?

    Tour Details
    Transport
    • Destination Services Costa RicaOperatorWritten November 2025

You can bring a suitcase. During the guided tours, you will leave your main luggage at the accommodation, and you only need to carry a small daypack with the essentials (water, sunscreen, camera, etc.). There is no need to carry your full luggage during the tours. If you prefer, a backpack is also fine, but it is not required.

    • Destination Services Costa RicaOperatorWritten November 2025

This itinerary doesn't run as one fixed group throughout (it's classified as 'partially guided'). It operates on a shared, seat-in-coach basis with local guides. It is an individual itinerary.

My wife and I are 88 years old. We are healthy but only able to walk or hike about 1 mile. Would this tour be appropriate for us. We are looking for a tour, about 10 days. We would like to visit natural areas and the east coast if possible. We are flexible as to the starting and ending points.

    Age Range
    Tour Details
    • Destination Services Costa RicaOperatorWritten October 2025

This tour covers several regions: it begins with one night in San José, followed by two nights in Tortuguero, where you'll enjoy a low-effort walk with plenty of rest stops. Next, you'll spend two nights in Arenal, including a hike along the 1968 Trail—moderate in difficulty and also with breaks. The journey continues with two nights in Monteverde, featuring a visit to the biological reserve under similar conditions. For the extension options: if you choose Guanacaste, there are no additional hikes, offering a more relaxing experience. If you opt for Manuel Antonio, the itinerary includes a visit to the national park, which involves a slightly longer walk, but the scenery is truly stunning. At any point during the tour, if you prefer not to continue with a specific activity, you're welcome to return to the main entrance and wait for your guide or group.

The tour begins with a warm welcome at the airport and a transfer to your hotel for the first night in San José. We recommend scheduling your departure flight for after 4:00 p.m., to ensure enough time on the last day of the itinerary.
