The 3 day Orkney Explorer tour doesn't start up again until Monday 16th March. We also have the 1 day Robert Burns Country, Culzean Castle & Ayrshire Coast tour from Glasgow which passed fairly close to Kilmarnock.

We are trying to decide between this tour "3-Day Orkney Explorer from Inverness" and "Isle of Skye & Highlands from Edinburgh". We are generally training it around from place to place but would like to know which of these tours would show us more of what we can't do from train stops. Can you assist?

As you can imagine, none of these islands are accessible by train. You could visit them using public transport (There is a bus that goes to Skye from the mainland) and other options as well. Likewise, you can get to Orkney via ferry or plane. What we offer is not transport only, we offer the service of experienced driver-guides that can take you to many places that you might not even have heard of. They will tell you stories, play music, answer any questions you might have etc. We also include accommodation and some attractions on our tour packages, so you can sit back and relax whilst we take care of all the planning.

We had some unexpected challenges on our tour, the ferry had technical issues and we had to take a later one that couldn't accommodate our bus. We were met by another bus and driver since our tour guide wasn't legally allowed to drive a different bus. Through it all our tour guide Amy was very professional and quickly changed routes, showing us interesting landmarks and places to visit so that we could get the best of our trip. She did a terrific job and made our trip very enjoyable. We stayed at the Helgis B&B that had been arranged for us. It was a lovely place with a very friendly host and delicious breakfast. I would recommend it highly!Show more

There was a lot crammed in but it was all amazing and wonderful to see, from the prehistoric sites to lovely views, and time to shop. My accommodation was really good - very comfortable in Grainbank Mews - a lovely place run by a young family, who made me feel very welcome, and made excellent porridge! Every day was packed with sights of incredible natural beauty and ancient mystery like Skara Brae, Ring of Brodgar, and the Stenness Standing Stones. Our guide, Amy D, fit all of our activities efficiently into each day, sometimes expertly rearranging due to weather or transportation delays. Her extensive knowledge of local and national history was impressive. The hotel had comfortable rooms and a bar and restaurant that offered a great breakfast.
