Travel Safety & Hygiene Measures

Discover everything you need to know about the latest health and wellness protocols tour operators are implementing, and travel with confidence on your next tour.

New Safety and Hygiene Measures on Tour

Many of the destinations and operators you see on TourRadar are now working closely with the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) to introduce a specific set of guidelines and measures to keep travellers safe, healthy, and happy on their trips. Stringent hygiene protocols are in place at every part of your journey — from the moment you arrive at your accommodation to the transport you travel on and the attractions you visit — so you can have complete peace of mind on your next adventure.

Safe Holiday Destinations

The following destinations are a few that have adopted health and hygiene protocols as outlined by the World Travel & Tourism Council. Given their new protocols, these destinations have been awarded the WTTC’s Safe Travels Stamp, which means you're safe to explore as you please.

Tour Operators with Hygiene Measures in Place

Below you’ll find a list of some of the operators on-site that have implemented strict hygiene measures and published their safety protocols online.

Several tour operators are currently adhering to a specific set of protocols: WTTC’s Safe Travel stamp, the world’s first-ever global safety and hygiene stamp for travel and tourism, designed specifically to address COVID-19 and similar outbreaks. This stamp is designed to help travellers easily recognize destinations and tourism companies around the world that have implemented health and hygiene protocols that are in alignment with WTTC’s Safe Travels protocols.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How are tour operators increasing the hygiene and safety of their trips?

Following recommendations from global health authorities and guidelines set out by the World Travel & Tourism Council, operators have implemented a number of stringent protocols to ensure the health and safety of travellers on tour. These measures include: pre-trip health screenings, enhanced cleaning at accommodation, meals, and on transport, hygiene equipment, frequent sanitization, on-trip distancing, and smaller group sizes, to name a few.
  • Will tour operators require screening or COVID-19 testing before travel?

Protocols will vary depending on the company you’re travelling with; however, you will likely be expected to complete a self-screening health form before joining your trip. If a traveller is displaying COVID-19 symptoms or has tested positive for the virus, they will not be permitted to join the trip until deemed fit for travel by a medical professional.
  • Will insurance cover me if I get COVID-19 when travelling?

A select number of insurance companies — such as World Nomads — are now covering some claims related to COVID-19, so you may be covered for emergency medical expenses and trip interruption. Be sure to read your insurance policy carefully, and confirm with your specific provider before travelling.
  • Will I have to wear a mask when travelling? Will you provide masks?

Masks may be required depending on local recommendations in the destination you’re visiting and per the guidelines set out by the company you’re travelling with. It’s recommended that travellers bring their own masks.
