Namibia Safari Tours
Namibia safari means desert and coast in one unique and wonderful trip. Enjoy Etosha National Park drives, floodlit waterhole watching, Skeleton Coast shipwreck, Walvis Bay dolphin cruise, and Sandwich Harbour dunes. Namibia differs from East Africa, with its desert landscapes, German influence, and fewer animals but stunning scenery. Namibia is definitely one for photographers, with dunes, dead trees, shipwrecks, and massive empty landscapes.

We had an amazing 6-days trip through Sossusvlei, Swakopmund and Etosha National Park. Already on the first day we saw wild animals along the road and various beautiful landscapes. We even liked the gravel roads because of that. Every day was a new and totally different scenery and experience for us. Also Lukas with his knowledge and good view on spotting wildlife makes our tour a precious one. Thank you Geroldine, Lukas and Discovery Safaris & Tours for making this happen!

What our customers ask about Namibia Safari Tours
How many days should I plan for a comprehensive Namibia safari experience?
A 10-14 day trip provides enough time to see Namibia's main safari areas. This timeframe lets travelers spend time at Etosha National Park (2-3 days) see the dunes of Sossusvlei (2 days) explore Swakopmund (2 days) and visit places like Damaraland and the Skeleton Coast. A TourRadar traveler advised: "Our 14-day tour gave us enough time to really appreciate each location without feeling rushed."
What are the best months to visit Namibia for wildlife viewing during a safari?
The dry winter months from May to October offer the best wildlife viewing especially in Etosha National Park. During this time animals gather at waterholes making them easier to spot. While the Namib Desert and Sossusvlei are accessible year-round the coolest temperatures for dune climbing and photography occur from June to August in the early morning. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "The wildlife viewing in Etosha during July was incredible - we saw countless elephants lions and rhinos gathering at the waterholes."
What types of accommodation can I expect on a Namibia safari tour?
Namibia's accommodations range from basic to luxurious with options for every budget. Visitors can stay at places like the Etosha Safari Lodge near the national park Desert Quiver Camp close to Sossusvlei or Hakusembe River Lodge on the Okavango River. Most properties offer essential amenities such as pools dining areas and observation points for wildlife viewing. According to TourRadar travelers reviews: "The mix of accommodation was perfect - from comfortable lodges in Etosha to the authentic tented camps in Damaraland where we could hear wildlife at night."
What are the must-see highlights on a Namibia safari tour?
Key experiences include watching wildlife in Etosha National Park walking the red dunes of Sossusvlei at dawn seeing desert-adapted elephants in Damaraland's rugged terrain and spending time in the coastal town of Swakopmund. The Caprivi Strip's waterways also offer good wildlife spotting opportunities. As noted by a TourRadar traveler: "The combination of desert landscapes at Sossusvlei and abundant wildlife in Etosha made for an unforgettable safari experience."
How much driving is involved on a Namibia safari tour?
Travel times in Namibia can be significant given the country's size. Common routes take 4-5 hours from Windhoek to Sossusvlei (364km) 4 hours from Swakopmund to Etosha (491km) and 3-4 hours between major parks. The drives include stops for wildlife viewing and photos. A TourRadar traveler mentioned: "The drives were long but comfortable in the safari vehicles with plenty of stops for wildlife viewing and photography."
Are Namibia safaris suitable for families with children?
Namibia welcomes families on safari with most tours open to children aged 5-6 and older. Family-friendly options include stays at Okaukuejo Rest Camp in Etosha and Desert Quiver Camp near Sossusvlei. Companies like Safari World Tours create special family itineraries with appropriate vehicles and schedules. A TourRadar traveler shared: "Our kids loved watching elephants at the Okaukuejo waterhole and climbing the dunes at Sossusvlei."
