What kind of traveller is Iceland suited for?<\/b><\/h2>\n

Naturally, Iceland speaks to travellers searching for alternative landscapes. From black-sand beaches, lavender fields and glaciers galore, there is plenty to keep outdoor-enthusiasts entertained. That being said, Iceland is not limited to the adventurous type.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Reykjav\u00edk; the small, yet vibrant capital has carved a unique identity as a Nordic getaway, making it an attractive short-break destination. Just think cozy caf\u00e9s, dynamic street art, futuristic cathedrals plus a collection of modern museums.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, a word of caution must be shared. This far-flung, Nordic destination is not necessarily built for the budget-conscious traveller. Of course, you can travel on a budget, but don\u2019t say we didn\u2019t warn you.<\/span><\/p>\n

When should I visit Iceland? <\/b><\/h2>\n

  1. While Iceland may not be considered a typically warm destination, don\u2019t let the name deter you \u2013 just be sure to pack the relevant clothes according to the season. This small, but mighty country is well-equipped to cater for visitors year-round. It just depends on what activities spark your interest.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Something to keep in mind is the \u201cmidnight sun\u201d phenomenon and to consider how this will impact the activities you want to participate in. In summer, Iceland is subject to continuous daylight. In winter, the opposite occurs with just four to five hours of daylight.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    How much time do I need in Iceland? <\/b><\/h2>\n

    If your journey involves a long-haul flight, it would be a shame to spend less than five days exploring the capital and the remote areas of Iceland. However, if you\u2019re fortunate enough to live within reach of a short-haul flight, three to five days will provide a small but satisfying taste of Iceland.\u00a0Given the small size of the country, most travellers will find anywhere between 3-25 days sufficient time to spend exploring Iceland.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Technically, you could hire a car and drive the entire 1,332 kilometres of Route 1, aka \u201cThe Ring Road\u201d in one day, but where is the fun in that?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
