From beginner day hikes that will allow you to experience the country\u2019s history and natural beauty from a new perspective, to longer trekking adventures that will push you and encourage you to explore more of the world, there\u2019s a hiking trip for every kind of traveller, in every destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Japan, especially, is home to countless hiking trails of all difficulty levels. While these trails are wonderful to hike and incredibly rewarding to complete, certain parts of Japan experience heavy snowfall in the winter, and thus some trails close in the late autumn and winter. If you were to set out intent on visiting all 88 temples along the trail, it would take well-prepared and fit travellers about 6 weeks. This trail is the most popular with local hikers from western Japan, and travellers will find traditional lodges in serene villages along the way.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Kohechi: <\/strong>arguably the most difficult of the four routes, Kohechi is \u201cthe mountainous trail,\u201d challenging hikers to 70 kilometres of steep inclines and isolated trails. While this route is beautiful, only experienced and well-prepared hikers should attempt to hike Kohechi.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Ohechi: <\/strong>luckily for travellers looking to find that picture-perfect moment on their hiking adventure, Ohechi\u2019s coastal route provides stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. Ohechi has long been a favourite of writers and artists, and the historic trails have been well-preserved.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Iseji: <\/strong>a popular choice for pilgrims in the 1600s, Iseji\u2019s eastern route gives travellers the chance to see more of Japan &#8211; throughout this trail, the scenery changes dramatically and there\u2019s never a dull moment!
