Instead, we\u2019ll give you plenty of good reasons to travel <em>outside<\/em> of the country\u2019s capital city. as the city\u2019s weathered streetscapes and vintage cars fade from view, you\u2019ll find yourself surrounded by imposing mogotes (limestone karsts), lush greenery, and ox-powered ploughs ambling through tobacco fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Casa particulares<em>,<\/em> or homestays, are the main type of accommodation here, giving you the chance to stay with a local family and indulge in delicious home-cooked meals every night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aside from visiting a tobacco farm \u2014&nbsp;which is an absolute must in this area \u2014 hiking, cycling, and horse-back riding, there isn\u2019t an abundance of things to do in Vi\u00f1ales  (at least in comparison to popular hotspots like Havana) \u2014&nbsp;and that\u2019s the beauty of this region;
