International Women’s Day is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It\u2019s also a call to action for equality in how women are paid, treated and their role in society.\u00a0<\/i>To celebrate, we\u2019re featuring notable women all month\u2014inspiring female adventurers, travellers, and activists who have a message to share.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caroline Gleich, 30, is a Salt Lake City, Utah-based professional ski mountaineer and adventurer. She recently skied all 90 lines in Andrew McLean\u2019s cult-classic steep skiing guidebook, the Chuting Gallery, a guide to the steepest, hardest ski lines in Utah\u2019s Wasatch Mountains. When she first announced the project, she was laughed at. Caroline was the first women and the fourth person to ski all 90 lines. And she did it while being aggressively cyberstalked. <\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When she\u2019s not skiing, Caroline trail runs, alpine climbs, scrambles and bikes. A nature lover since birth, the Patagonia athlete advocates for social and environmental justice, and she works on climate change, clean air and cyberharassment issues. She has 144K Instagram followers. Her dad calls her \u201cthe animal.\u201d We talked with Gleich about being an advocate, telling your story even when it makes you vulnerable, and challenging stereotypes.<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

100,000 human-powered vertical feet climbed so far in 2018 (mostly on skis). Inspired by @airandrice. In today\u2019s world, there is a lot of noise, especially on social media. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed by the pressure of it all. At the end of the day, it\u2019s not about the numbers. It\u2019s about the simple act of putting one foot in front of another and climbing up a mountain, whether it\u2019s on snow or dirt or rock or ice. It\u2019s following my heart and pursuing my passion, and trying to protect the experience for future generations. And I\u2019m grateful to share the journey with you.
